Recommendations for a luxury car

Big engined 7 series would certainly fit the bill. Staggeringly refined and plenty of toys but nimble and even "sporty" when pushed
At only 50 miles a week or so you certainly do not want a diesel IMO but a big V8 before they finally become extinct
Can't think of a better way to finish your driving career probably fittingly towards the end of the large V8 luxury big car era as well
 Good luck0

Pay a bit more and get a 3.0 V6 Diesel Jag XF: twin turbo, luxury, looks good, is a jag, fairly economical, powerful, is a jag.0

A 3.0D Diesel XF is coming in at around £25K. Its predecessor, the 2.7 is an excellent car too though, and its closer to budget - coming in from around £19K for ones with sensible miles.0

Yes but why would OP want a diesel - he only does 200 miles a month
I love my twin turbo diesel but if I only did 2k- 3k mile pa I would have a big petrol engined car again in a jiffy! I miss my old 4.4 V8 despite how good the newer car is0

The diesel would be perfect for relaxed driving with oodles of torque.
I was actually thinking petrol, but specifically for the XF, there are very few petrols around, and any that are seem to be further out of budget.
But yes, a big petrol engined Jag would fit the bill perfectly.0

We have a Mercedes C Class 200K - auto, leather seats, etc. It's a nice car to drive but it's not very big inside, and if you ever plan on going out if there's a bit of ice or snow, then forget it.
I have a c-class merc and even living in Scotland It didn't get stuck once. Rear drive is more tricky but sdecent tyres, some weight in the back and an understanding of how to deal with the conditions should see you alright!
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0

Can't remember off hand, they only stay on the web for about a day before they are sold, normally to a Private Hire Deriver as they can be sold ready to work, I think they may be either Classic or Executive spec, a lot of executive private hire re the E220cdi in executive spec, but in the general market this model seems rare.
They have leather, climate, auto gearbox and the most economical engine, for justover £10k, ready to go to work then they are a bargain, in London they get two MOT's a year and an annual inspection by TFL. Addision Lee are well known for servicing their vehicles above and beyond the minimum needed by the warranty.0

My post was actually directed at poster above you - my mistake for not quoting
In many cases I agree with your first bit - just not in this circumstance. Modern diesels are fantastic pieces of engineering and inside many upper end oil burners they are pretty much silent on cruising and with, as you say masses of torque.
The OP is looking for his final change of car potentially and anyone who has driven a large engined petrol luxury car and doesn't have to worry about petrol cost (in general) is going to choose that over the equivalent diesel version surely?
A V8 (and a lesser degree a V6 or straight 6) can waft along in near silence or if feelinga bit "frisky" can make your hairs on your neck stand up when you floor it
OP fiond a 750 or 760 BMW and try it and see what I mean. Even a 540 / 545 / 550 in SE trim will fit the bill aswell and they are amazing value for money as few people want to afford the petrol bills going forward0

Thanks, and to everyone else again for all for suggestions. The reason for my average driving of 50 miles a week is that I have an OAP bus pass with a good bus route to my nearest city of Cambridge. Nevertheless, I would happily give up the bus pass if I could turn back the years! So, it is a purely selfish desire for a luxurious car. I have done my stint with family cars! I am looking for that luxury car that is a fraction of its original price and no longer desirable because of running costs. I liked the idea of a Lexus but now see this BMW.

Get a diesel S Type Jaaaaaag, you know you want to.
From mid £7000 mark at CarGiant, a 57 plate for around £9000 to £12000 depending on spec and mileage, you know you want tom they can do the Nurburgring in under 10 minutes even with Clarkson at the wheel, they also have the Jaaaaaaaaaaag waft factor.
No German car can touch the Jaaaaaag for waft factor.0
