Clarity card is still on the Halifax website, its the Reward Clarity that seems to have disappearedDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0

I can't find any mention of this either. Not in the weekly tip emails or on the main site. Care to post a quote/link?
I was referring to this section which I assume was referring to the Clarity card:-
Stop Press! Rumour top overseas spending card ends Sun
The cheapest way to spend overseas prob. closing its doors to newbies - apply now
We've JUST been tipped off the cheapest card for spending abroad is being pulled from comparison sites and poss for all new customers Sunday. No official confirmation so it's not 100%, but if you want it, consider acting quickly. Holstering the right plastic's the cheapest way to spend abroad, saving you up to 10%, though of course you'll be credit-scored and should ALWAYS repay in full each month to minimise interest.
· Top worldwide card MAY end Sun. Most credit and debit cards add a hidden 3% 'load' on foreign spending, ie, spend £100 worth of euros/dollars and you pay £103. Halifax's* Clarity is load-free worldwide giving 'perfect' exchange rates everywhere, plus it doesn't charge ATM or spending fees. Interest is charged on cash withdrawals (not spending) even if repaid in full (12.9% representative APR) about £1/mth per £100 withdrawn - these conditions should continue for existing customers as it's been heavily promoted, but it's never 100% guaranteed."A nation of plenty so concerned with gain" - Isley Brothers - Harvest for the World0 -
How strange. That section was not included in the weekly tip I received, nor is it on the version archived on the main site. I guess it wasn't pulled on Sunday (6th March), since I've applied for one since then and have just signed the paperwork for it.Grade_A_Reject wrote: »I was referring to this section which I assume was referring to the Clarity card:-

I called to re-apply on Monday this week and was told that the rewards card was discontinued two weeks ago but they had other cards they could offer.
Erm......no thanks."A nation of plenty so concerned with gain" - Isley Brothers - Harvest for the World0 -
Hmm, two weeks ago from Monday would have been the 7th March. Glider3560 successfully applied for the card on the 16th March and Martin has kept it in the Cashback Credit Cards Guide, despite apparently having suspicions it would be axed.Grade_A_Reject wrote: »I called to re-apply on Monday this week and was told that the rewards card was discontinued two weeks ago but they had other cards they could offer.

If it has been pulled, it must have happened no more than a few days before you phoned, but I think it's more likely they decided to keep it going and just confused some of their staff.
Whatever the case, what you were told cannot be correct.0 -

Damn, if that is the case that this card has been pulled then that has annoyed me a little. Having cancelled an old Halifax cashback card in order to apply for a Clarity card I was told by them to wait 30 days. Those 30 days are gone now and I was planning to apply for this card very soon.
I guess I will have to open up another cashback card somewhere now. On the bright side, I have the Nationwide Credit card which is not too bad from experience.:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:D:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:jMe and the gang!!!0 -
Did a little checking and apparently, it is still available, you just have to apply in branch now...
http://www.halifax.co.uk/creditcards/clarity.asp#Clarity_Rewards_Credit_CardWhere can I apply for the Clarity Rewards Credit Card?
Eligible customers can apply for the Clarity Rewards Card by visiting one of our branches.0 -
My application for a Halifax Clarity has also been refused. I've got a good credit score and not much debt compared to income (over 30k).
I have had a mortgage for a year now and apart from that have 1k overdraft (unused) and 3k credit card (of which 1.5k is currently used and being paid off).
I'm really frustrated as I have deliberately put things on my cc and paid off in instalments rather than in one go so that I'm seen as a better candidate but to no avail!
I'm going to write to them with a copy of my report and see what they come back with, probably nothing...0 -
Paying in instalments rather than in full is to your creditors advantage but doesn't necessarily improve your credit rating/worthiness.pralinehalo wrote: »I'm really frustrated as I have deliberately put things on my cc and paid off in instalments rather than in one go so that I'm seen as a better candidate but to no avail!
As long as you pay your balances in full by the statement due date, your credit report will light up green.0 -
I also applied for a Clarity card, principally for the cheap European ATM withdrawals.
Salary over £45k, mortgage paid, no debt, no credit card balance (but over £1k/month spent), at current address over 11 years, no record of any kind, Halifax account (albeit with little money - used for electron card, now about as much use as a chocolate fireguard).
Application refused - the first in 20 years - and no explanation.
100% certain it's because they don't thnk they'll make any money out of me (although, of course, they would get their cut from the vendor)
Can't be bothered to speak to them, just called up and closed my account.
