Hmm, I've had the same alert but the account number doesn't relate to anything I've got, or had.
My Citi Card has been replaced with an Opus Card, but neither of these numbers end with the last 4 shown in the alert.
Is everyone convinced this is OK, or are there still some sceptics amongst you?
Thank you,
Pete0 -
Has anyone heard back from Citi / Opus yet?0

Just had this reply from Equifax:Thank you for getting in touch.
This alert is in relation to an old Citi Card now known as Opus Card.
On 21st November 2010 some Citi Card accounts along with any outstanding balances were transferred to Opus Card. This is what's causing the alerts. You can contact Opus Customer Services on 020 7871 0464. You can see more information on this account if you order a new report.
You’ll find more information about your credit report at: www.equifax.co.uk/help. If you have a question, you should find the answer in our FAQ section. If not, you can send us an online query, and attach your documents to it - no need to worry about them getting lost or delayed in the post.
I hope you find this useful. If there’s anything else we can do for you, please let us know.
Kind regards

This is just typical of the totally out of control trading in our personal data that is occuring right now in the UK.
So Citibank get fed up with Shell and dump their Citicard accountholders and eventually are to be found resetting up their stall with BP.
They also pass on our data (as someone says including DoB, and goodness knows what else) to a company most of us have never heard of until we stumbled on this thread called Opus.
Then Opus pass on irrelevant data on our closed accounts to Equifax in bulk (who accept it and publish it )
Heads need to roll.
There are a lot of us in this thread and you will notice from my username that I have already been the victim of ID fraud when personal data was used to trigger replacement cards that were intercepted because I was not expecting them.
I do not believe in coincidences. I reckon have good reason to suspect that it is the totally careless trading of personal data like this that probably made my data vulnerable in the first place. Have any of the rest of you suffered id fraud since your Citicards were closed? It cost £8,000.
The whole question of who pays for Credit Card fraud in the UK should be tipped on its head. We need new law that makes it illegal for banks to pass on the cost of fraud to the customer base and to unsuspecting retailers. At the moment all that does is create more turnover for the banks who do not actually care if it is legit expenditure or 'other' turnover because it inflates their books and actually costs them nothing except lip-service. If they truly had to stand the fraud losses on their balance sheets because they were unable to levy them as increased interest or charges or retailer chargebacks then perhaps the banks might be more careful with our data.0 -
So it's been over a week now and I haven't heard anything from Opus / Citicard0
