This concerns me as I used to have a Shell Citi card which I settled in Jan 2010, I only have access to Experian CreditExpert at present and this card is still showing as settled.

Has anyone seen evidence of it re-activating on Experian or is just showing up on Equifax so far?

I don't really want to pay to see my Equifax report (already done the free trial months ago).

    Thanks

    Use this link:

Log in using the button at the top of that page, and you can see your report for just £2 immediately.

Yep, I've got one of these alerts too - glad I found this as I was a little worried...but I'm an ex-Citi card member so I'll put it down to that.

Called up Equifax and confirmed that BHAP0013 is indeed Opus.

The rep mentioned that the credit agreement/record will be on file for 6years after an account is closed.

So even if I did not have an active account with Opus, this will show as a new agreement in the alert but is in fact just a name change (from Citi to Opus).

If I was concerned, the rep asked me to order a new credit report to check that the agreement was not active etc..

Alerts is certainly a feeder for the Credit reports and for Equifax to increase their revenues!

If you use a prepaid card with just £1 on it to get the free membership, it will last ~ 40 days after which it will auto cacel when unable to renew the membership on that card.

Once this happens you can get another free membership using the same card and £1 - which never actually gets debited, just pre-authed.

And get £5 cashback each time from Quidco.

    Or so they say

Yes, I got this same info on my Equifax file. I previously had an AACiti card which was cancelled after AA moved their Mileage scheme to AmEx. I rang OPUS and they had all my info including DOB and password from Citi. They said they would look into why they wanted to set up a new Credit Card Agreement on a closed account. I am happy that this appears to be incompetance rather than something underhand!

Could those affected please clarify a few things:

    1. What is the start date of the account showing as on Equifax? Recent or years ago?
    2. What is the limit showing as? Your old limit or £0?
    3. What is the account history status showing as? Blank, "U"s, or "0"s?

Knowing the answers to these questions will clarify whether the entries are tantamount to defamation.

I have no problem with OPUS reporting the account as my card is still in use

    to answer your questions

"Start Date" is over 10 years ago - so probably the actual start date

"Date Updated" is 15/02/2011 (bear in mind alert date was 3/3/2011)

"Credit Limit" has remained the same since the account was opened - so no issue for me , it is correctly reported

"Status code" is green / up to date (Equifax seem to use "grey" for its "U" unclassified and I do not have any of those - my account is still active though)

Citi Cards used to report to Equifax (they appear on my achived reports) , so they disappeared for a while and have now returned as OPUS backdated

I also had an alert for a current account "New Information BFAI0077 Current Account" - that turned out to be Metro Bank

thanks to mse again . . saved me a load of research.

I too have a closed citicard, I also had a tiny overpayment that was credited last month, and was told that the account was now closed.

I am also furious as I am trying to keep my credit agency action to a minimum.

Will be very interested to know if they will automatically put this right with equifax, or will I have to phone and complain . . .really haven't the stomach for that at the moment.

I got the BHAP0013 as well. I have a dormant Citi card but it was NOT transferred to Opus, so I don't think Citi can blame Opus, the error seems to have been by Citi.

I would like to thank this board and it's members for explaining this to me. And for google taking me straight here.

BHAP0013 means nothing so seeing an alert got me worried.

If it had the word "Opus" in it then it would have made so much more sense
