Having ordered a free report it appears the account number corresponds to my Opus CC account who took over from Citi card a few months back

    Thats the mystery solved then

The Citi card disappeared for a few months and has now reappeared on Equifax

In that case I suspect that my "new" current account is Nat West because that was only reporting to Experian

I also don't recognise the last 4 digits? Does anyone else have 1272 the same as me?

have you got an OPUS / Citi card ?

The last 4 digits do not match my OPUS card , but I am satisfied it is that card

    Thanks Dr_Cuckoo3
Just found this on the CITI web page after reading the threads, not sure if it is of use to anyone: -
Important message about your Citi Card
The transfer of some Citi Cards to Opus Card
On 21st November 2010 some Citi Card accounts along with any outstanding balances will be transferred to Opus Card. If you have been advised that you will receive a new Opus Card and PIN, please ensure that you activate your new Opus Card as you will not be able to use it until you do. This can be done by calling Opus Customer Services on 020 7871 0464.
From 21st November, you will no longer be able to use your Citi Card so you should destroy it to help prevent fraud. Please ensure you destroy your Citi Card by cutting through the magnetic strip and chip. Please also destroy any promotional or convenience cheques that were issued for that account, for example by shredding.
You can no longer access your Citi Card account online. To view and manage your account online you will need to visit the Opus Card website at (search google for opuscard) and register to access your Opus account online.
To discuss your account or any past activity on your account, you should now contact Opus Card customer services from 21st November on 020 7871 0464

I just clicked to view my report and on there it does indeed state it is an OPUS account. If only it stated that on the credit alert it would of saved me a lot of worrying!

However, i am still left a little bemused. I was informed by Citi many months ago that my credit card was being transferred to OPUS, i didn't care much as the balance was clear and i hadn't used it in over a year. As soon as it transferred to OPUS i received a letter stating they were cancelling my account due to inactivity. Again, i didn't care as it was a dormant card and i was considering cancelling it anyway. So, i have never actually received an OPUS card or anything from them ever since. And as my account was cancelled with them i'm not sure why it's popped up as a new agreement today.

    thanks your share
  • Thanks to everyone. You have allayed my concerns!
  • I have had the same appear overnight. On checking my previous Equifax reports it does appear to relate to a Citibank credit card account as the start/end dates are exactly the same but the account number is completely different.

Mine was actually removed from my credit file as it was settled so I have contacted Experian to query why it has re-appeared bearing in mind it has been settled.

Has anyone else settled their account and had the same happen? it's a bit cheeky really!

Yes, Lindsaymini, I had one about ten (!) years ago, it was closed after a year. I've disputed this with Equifax as there's no way it should still be active!

OK, I've joined the club too!
I did have a CITI card a couple of years ago, but that was cancelled.

I'm pretty hacked off about this. I'm lokking at getting a new mortgage soon and dont want additional credit card agreements adding to my credit score.

Equifax isn't open until 9am, when I'll give them a call. Has anyone had confirmation yet that it is CITIcard, or is that just guesswork for now.

Same has happened to me this morning . Have an email from Equifax and no id3ea who the credit aggreement is until I found thise thread.
Stupid Citi card that I cleared about 4 years ago and cancelled as far as I was aware.

Then when Opus took over I started getting statements saying I had no money to spend and the card was in- active but that I was a penny in credit. Ive written to them once and Ive rang them twice to cancel the whole thing - and they said the first time that they couldnt because the account was in credit !! I told them to keep the penny ! The they said they would look into it and try and get it closed . But I just keep getting statements from them .

I was so furious with them because I had moved house and it was just luck that my mail re-direction was still ongoing that I even got this statement other wise they would be still going to my old address and putting me at risk of identity theft. I am so annoyed about this. grrrrr !
