You don't get less scammers with recorded. Recorded is not guaranteed and does not even online track in a lot of cases. I would like to see where you get your belief from, other than personal knowledge.

I've never had an INR for a Recorded item. And I bet as a percentage there are more INRs for standard than Recorded, but if you can show me otherwise...

I am at a loss with the highlighed part as you seem to contradict what you are saying, unless I have completely misunderstood.

I think you have misunderstood. My initial point was that Recorded isn't worth the paper it is written on (regarding seller protection). However I still think it puts off scammers. I know of one seller who puts fake "scan" barcodes on their packages, and it has reduced their INR levels. I don't think we should assume that all potential dodgy buyers are fully aware of what Recorded actually means.

My highlighting your comment regarding you only sending items over £100 via courier was to assist you. You will not get any more compensation from RM even with recorded, a point I am not arguing you have said, but showing you don't have the correct understanding of RD and it's 'added security' as you put it.

There is a gap in my structure I know, but compensation is only for the cost of the product plus postage, not what I sold it at, so it's a smaller gap than you'd think.

However, scamming on Ebay is not something I think is rife in my marketplace. Most of these 'movements' for change are from people who do not take time to understand the rules. There are those who do fall foul of scammers, but that is possible in any walk of life, not just Ebay.

Now that I totally dsagree with, I understand the rules well enough thanks.

As for squabbling...is it really? I thought it was a discussion about seller protection, although it does seem to have turned into a debate about whether or not I understand Recorded delivery...

I don't think my three losses in 1440 items is too shabby at all and as sending that lot recorded would have cost me £1065 I also think I am more than happy that I saved a great deal of money by trusting buyers to be honest.

However as I said earlier i am extremely happy for all my competitors to use recorded and would never disuade anyone from helping me boost my profits by allowing me to undercut them so easily.

I doubt that very much...I don't sell in a "dodgy" niche (i.e. electronics, phones, video games, fashion, perfume, etc) and I get much more INRs than that...I would say at least 1 in 100 on Ebay don't arrive, possibly more - and that is first class postage.

Well actually, yes you do! I don't send all items recorded, very few in fact, but sellers that regularly send recorded get less INR's. Its obvious that if a package arrives with a potential scammer with a recorded sticker on it, they are very unlikely to try saying it never arrived.

However if an item arrives standard post a scammer can easily turn around and say it never arrived and the seller cannot prove otherwise. That type of buyer is also the type that will ignore the letter from RM asking them to confirm they didn't receive your item therefore you also get no compensation.

I don't know why you and soolin continue to argue that there are no scammers and this sort of practice does not happen?! Just because it hasn't happened to you two does not mean the situation is not there! It does happen, it happens a lot and to a lot of people!

What the facebook group is asking obviously has no impact on either of you either way so I can only summise that you are arguing for the sake of it.

Personally I don't experience much scamming at all and my INR rate is very low but I know of many sellers who have had and do have problems. I'm in it because I support fellow sellers - perhaps you could both do the same and show a little team spirit rather than continuing with your "I'm alright Jack, sod everyone else" approach (and this time I'm not joking!).

So what about the items that say 'processing through the network' which never update. That is perfect fodder for a scammer isn't it?

I said this where exactly? No scammers? I said "there are those who do fall foul of scammers, but that is possible in any walk of life, not just Ebay".

I think you mean I should just agree with you?

As for sod everyone else.......perhaps look back through the replies that both Soolin and I (and others but you only pick on us) have given to those who find themselves in situations that they are unclear of.
