Just been in my fathers surgery to collect prescription for him and they were really nice, friendly, had time to chat to people.

I managed to get hold of the assistant Practice Manager and told her over the phone I wish to resign and she did her nut, did not take well to my reasons, she said I suppose you treat all employers the same. When I mentioned how she critises in front of others which I thought was out of order she said it's because you need to do the job properly and how she has bent over backwards to train me and now I am letting her down. Then said I did something wrong on the last day I worked there.

Reckons I owe her money that she has paid me leave (well that means I got less than I thought), so need to work Monday as I have not given enough notice, funny how she does not answer her phone when I tried to get hold of her, then she had the cheek to say how I should have made an appointment with her this week (when I am the one she placed on leave), yes lovely atmostphere, I am so looking forward to Monday!

Hope she doesn't make your day too difficult for you but I dare say she will try.

If she does, just be polite and 'nice', smile and don't let her see she is getting to you - Good luck

Out of interest, how many times are you needing to go to the toilet over a four hour period?

Although I'm glad that you're happy with your decision, I do have a lot of sympathy with the practice and agree that you've treated them badly.

I've had jobs that I absolutely loathed. Waited until I got another job though before handing on my notice.

Would you have given up so quickly had benefits not been an option? I would expect you to be sanctioned.

She sounds like a proper sour plum. I hope you don't hold back on your last day, be polite but make sure every knows exactly why your leaving you might be surprised how many people feel the same but are to scared to break out.

I would also put in a complaint in writing out lining your experience working for her, don't forget she will now most likely have a permanent say as she may be contacted by future employers.

By writing a letter you can prove there were difficulties and that her opinion is biased against you if necessary.

    Good luck!

What one person can cope with, another can't - this doesn't make anyone a lesser person than the other.

I gave up work on grounds of ill health after a 2 year struggle with anxiety and depression.

Another person might have been able to cope and work their way through it!

The fact that the OP was only in post for a month before leaving will be sufficient for a lot of prospective employers to avoid her. Best to leave this one off the CV altogether.

You're back to equating unhappiness in a job to anxiety and depression.

I don't agree with this. From what you've said here, OP, I would say that practice doesn't deserve you. The practice manager is a real bully. I think you should write to the lead doctor in the practice, saying how she trteated you. In my opinion she isn't fit to be working in a line management position.

Life's way too short to be putting up with horrible bosses. I'm glad you quit.
