Bump! I'm really wanting one after seeing a program on identity fraud.

    I got a Rexel HS.60 lubricant-free strip-cut shredder in Wilkinsons yesterday for £8.

Used it a fair bit getting through a fair backlog of old documents. Only jammed once when I absent-mindedly offered it too big a mouthful but the reverse button spat it back out ok.

Doesn't do staples, credit cards, etc. Just paper and thin cardboard.

The Users Manual in the box advises the purchaser to keep their receipt safe as it carries a 2 year warranty from date of purchase with this machine.

Eight quid for a branded shredder I think is pretty good value!

    HTH,
    Frank.

If you only want a STRIP CUT shredder, ASDA have reduced theirs to just £5.
Well at least the have at the Spondon store - probably 100 on a pallet at 5pm today.
This model was £9.99 and I think has been has been at least £12.99 and maybe £14.99 in the past

    Can anyone help?
  • Not an expert on shredders, but picked up a cross cut, 5 sheet shredder for £9 from Morissons a while back. Still think they have them in stock.

I don't have a Morissons near me, as I live in Northern Ireland. I was looking at ones in the new Argos book and reading reviews about them online but I still don't know which one I should get.

@Jo4 <> I'm sure if you read back through this thread you'll find lots of suggestions, offers and preferences.

One of them will certainly be LIDL's or ALDI's offerings.

I know that LIDL currently have a X-cut for £14-99
I'm not sure that they are top notch shredders but the 3 year guarantee gives peace of mind that if you do break it you can replace it or get your money back

Personally I've got an excellent ASDA X-cut one that I got at half price through a pricing error.

My Lidl does not have the offer you are referring to. Lidl offers Northern Ireland residents different offers to the rest of the UK. I will look in Asda when I am in it again.

I bought a Fellowes Micro Shredder, not cheap at £150 but it is very quiet and cuts up an A4 sheet into nearly 4,000 pieces! It also copes with paper clips, staples, credit cards and CDs/DVDs.

With the amount of mail people get these days, the very cheap shredders are just not worth it.
