Does any one know wat DIN level means???
Is it worth getting replacement cover on these things?
I'd guess the DIN level is the noise level - the figure will most likely be quoted as 'db' if so.
From what I've seen on here, if they pack in, it's usually early on so the standard 1yr guarantee should suffice.
I got one of the ½ price challenge models from Argos [£19.99 from £39.99] yesterday. On it's 1st day it chomped though 3 binloads of documents & a dozen CD/DVDs, I'm happy to report it's still going strong.Energy prices are rising fast so if you like my comment, thank me quickly so you can shut down your computer sooner..! DIN Security Levels
Paper shredders fall into five levels of security level 1 (lowest) to level 5 (highest) as defined in DIN32757. For normal home use then a lower level of security is acceptable. In an office environment where information such as personnel and wage documents are being disposed, then a higher level (cross cut shredder model) would be suitable.View are full range of paper shredders

I am looking for a decent cross cut shredder for the home, nothing fancy, just one that will take 5-10 A4 sheets of paper at a time and can shred staples. I'd like one with a min 10 litre bin although if someone can recommend one with less, then I'd make do without that sort of capacity.
Any help would be appreciated.0 -
Paper shredding is becoming something that is no longer just for the office. Individuals are seeing the benefits of shredding their confidential documents. As the concern over identity theft grows more and more people are turning to paper shredding to protect them against thieves. Destroying important documents or documents containing personal information guarantees the information will not fall into the wrong hands. As paper shredding is becoming popular it is becoming important for people to understand how to correctly and safely use a home or office paper shredder.

I am looking for a decent cross cut shredder for the home...
I just got one from tesco (not value brand) that was reduced to £14.95- so same cost as the low quality one. it does 5 sheets and has a credit card shredding mode. only had it one day though, but it was £10 cheaper than the cheapest in argos.0 -

It just said £10 on the shelf, there was no mention of any sort of special offer or it being a reduced price - but I find it hard to believe that £10 is the normal price.
FWIW I've only put a couple of sheets through it so far, but it seems fine.Stompa0 -

Thanks Stompa ...
I'll try my nearest branch and hopefully pick up the same bargain ...
