We had dinner with some friends last night and she had done a leg of lamb roasted over sliced potatoes with cauli/broc cheese - very nice but very off plan!!
She is a very old friend and we did SW together years ago. She is just over 6ft and is about 23 stone, had a gastric bypass 20+ years ago, and is not a great role model!!
We always chat about weight and stuff, and last night was the same (ironic chatting about losing weight after a meal like that but hey ho!)
She started on about the gastric band, and how she thought it could be my only way to get where i want to.
I have looked at it in the past, but the thought of unnecessary surgery always make me recoil, but we looked last night online, and she nearly convinced me......
On the way home DH and I chatted about why I try so hard and lose so little, and we agreed that we will work together, and stick to the plan without question,
so ta-dah!.....
:j:jToday is the first day of my 'prove my friend (the Hogarth) wrong' diet.....:j:j
Sometimes I think I work better when I have a point to prove so this could be the spur I need:T:T
Please don't think badly of my friend - she is a person who speaks her mind and I like that about her!
So your friend is 23 stone after her gastric bypass and thinks its the be all and end of for losing weight? And you nearly got convinved by this? Helloooo?!She must be very into the morbidly obese category
if you don't change your eating habits, all gastric surgery will do is get you a temporary gain, and then your body will adapt, and stretch/grow that portion of stomach or intestine that is left, and you end up having gone through painful and life threatening surgery and months of discomfort just to get back to where you were. Do you really want that? Have I convinced you yet?!
You go for proving the point, and hopefully she will see it working for you and maybe think about joining you. Could you invite her round in say 2 months time for a secretly slimming world slap up meal, and when the inevitable subject comes up say "oh yeah, this is what I eat now, and I've lost 1/2 a stone since I last saw you"?
Proving someone else wrong is a good motivator for me, so I hope it is for you too!Not the same situation but I fell out with a vindictive ex best friend when I finally had enough, and all sorts of things motivate me to do things better than she ever did
Pagan festival sounded interestingTakeItEasy, it might be worth using Helios, which is an online supplier of homeopathic remedies, if you place your order today or tomorrow it could be with you by Wednesday or Thursday, and might be handy to keep around in case of another bout. If you don't do internet shopping you can ring them up instead

Morning all! I've been for a lovely walk this morning. It was just over five miles and took me exactly an hour and 15mins. I was really please with that!! Legs are a bit wibbly now though!!! We're at MIL's for tea tonight and if I have the energy I might walk there too, it's about 5 miles there too!
So, I think today had best be EE:
Brekkie - banana, grapes, strawberries, grapefruit, yogurt.
Lunch - salad, WM pitta, dressing (1), I'll also have some Tuna or something. Jelly with strawbs for pud!
Tea - ??? Hope its not too naughty as I want to get to target this week ready for my wedding!0 -

I am on the same page as you - she completely admitts she is beyond redemption, and has so much scarring from previous surgery that she can't go down the path again.
I probably put it badly - she had me nearly convinced, but on the way home we shook our heads and came back to the real (SW) world!
It's hard to describe her without doing her a dis- service.... she is a great friend and probably says the things that no-one else would vocalise!
She may be the kick up the @r$e I need without realising how much she has helped in a different way than she meant!!
xNO EXCUSES - THIS YEAR IT'S PERSONAL..........0 -

Yup, consultant at group has asked me if Im interested....but until I get my magic ears its not an option as I cant hear sod all :rotfl:Oh and then theres the slight problem of not being able to drive myself anywhere with the oscillopsia vision (carrying my gear in to set up would be a laugh on the crutches too)
-but Ive got it on my 'wish list' when the old brain starts behaving like a normal one
You can get the Oaty bars at Asda & Sainsburyconfused57 wrote: »when I read your post I had a sudden urge to cry - it never leaves you if you're as close as I was to my Mum and obviously as close as you are to yours.
A lovely Post confused, It made me feel very tearful too. I still miss my Dad terribly...we lost him to leukaemia 9 years ago, now I'm going through the same with my mum & terminal breast cancer.
Rachel. Im so sorry about your mum :(just try look after yourself hun, your mum needs to know that you will be ok x x
I don't agree with your friend, but each to his own. You just have to look at what people like MrsM on here (and loads in the magazines) have achieved and it proves it can be done with SW. I'm not pretending it's easy but if you're determined to prove a point.....:)
Totally agree with you :T:T
I had a friend that I worked with that had gastric surgery years ago(stapling) but she used to liquidise stuff like mars bars and is still a large woman.....whats the point in that!!!!?
I always do best with things if Ive got a point to prove ( my stubborn streak inherited from my lovely dad :A) so you just go for it ForB and we' will support you all the way with it
TakeItEazy I really do hope you get some AntiB's soonI can't believe the walk in centre didnt give you anything  you must be in agony hun

Morning All
I'd like to join in with you but first I have a question. I've done SW before so I know what to do and I'm undecided whether to go to a class or give it a go at doing it alone. Any thoughts?
Julie
Hello and welcome - In my opinion (for what it's worth) I would definitely go to a class. The support at image therapy is great and you feel that the whole class is with you, I can't see the sense in just going, getting weighed and then leaving otherwise you might just as well be doing it online.
You'll get LOADS of support on here and don't be afraid to ask as many questions you like - someone will come back with an answer. There's also lots of recipes on the first page of this thread.
It's your choice but that's my two penny worth. Whatever you choose, stick with us on here, you'll be fine. xx0 -
DIZZY - I have a image in my head of you lugging all your stuff into class - I didn't really think my suggestion out did I. I truly hope that some time in the future you are fit and well enough (magic ears and all) to tick that particular wish off your list. x0

I would make good entertainment value juggling the boxes at least eh :rotfl:
Well If my wish list doesn't get fully completed.....I'll settle for being a target member & annoying the heck out of consultant at my group instead getting in the way with my crutchesx

Thank you for all your kind comments, and yes, I do need to take care of myself now, for everyones sake.
Mum came over yesterday and we had a lovely lunch SW style. She is pleased that I am cooking healthy meals, as she cannot eat fat as it upsets her stomach too much. Well, she ate so well, she even asked for an extra 'roast' potato. Also, she drove over instead of my brother driving her, a great improvement as she has not driven for months. She is obviously very determined to do as she wants while she still can. Good on her
DizzyK, sorry to her about your mum too, I hope she isn't in too much pain x
TakeItEazy I hope you are feeling a bit better today and have managed to see someone, it sounds awful x
Maman I hope you get to enjoy your champagne
No booze yesterday, and totally back on plan. Today will be:
B: Banana, mullerlight, chicken slices
L: Ham, cheese (HEA) & tomato on WM Pitta (HEB), salad, satsumaMinced beef hotpot, pasta, salad, melon
Snacks: Maybe a bag of velvet crunch (4),skinny cow lolly (3.5)
Drinks: Water, sprite zero.
The mexican bake sounds lush, may have a go at making that today and take it to work for my lunch tomorrow along with some hm watercress soup.LBM Dec 10. Total unsecured debt £41176  Nov 12 Debt Free Thanks Mum x RIP x

That Mexican bake sounds nice, vegan if I use my soya cheese (how I wish there was a low fat soya cheese)
I need to get back to the plan now - hardly been to class since mid March which is not good enough - I'm either going or I'm not - so am going back this Weds to sort membership out and have decided I can't keep going to different classes to suit me as it's messing both me and the computers and poor staff on the pay desk about!
I'm working 9am to 9pm this Weds but club is near to work so boss has said I can pop out for weigh in at 4pm, won't have time to stay for the meeting which I'd like to but getting on those scales will get me back on track!
Could also do with getting rid of all the Easter choc that is lurking here.
Also going back to my excercise plan this week.
I must look at noodles as I tend to use udon ones from the Chinese shop but those have oil in or straight to wok - only dried ones I've seen have egg in and I'm vegan so need egg free ones. Must be syn free no egg ones out there?Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.
