Another question from a newbie ... does anyone know if Berocca tablets in solution have Syns? I can't see them on the online list.
    Thank you!

Hmm I don't know, do they have a calorie content on the packaging? And do you take them every day?

Edited to add: the website says they have no sugar in them, so I can't imagine them being syns. Looking at the vitamin ingredients though, do you really need to take it? They're all vitamins you should get if you eat a healthy balanced and reasonably varied diet anyway ;)

    Hi All,

Could someone please pm me the recipe for the Mexican Bake? Someone in class last week mentioned it but I can't find my magazine anywhere and it's not on the slimming world site!

    Thanks in advance

    Anna x

    This one? http://slimmingworldmalvern.co.uk/wp/index.php/2011/03/mexican-bake/

There's this weird looking thing (but it must be an old recipe, tins of macaroni cheese are syns now)

    http://forum1.aimoo.com/SWWF2/category/Mexican-Bake-1-1159980.html

you can just about read it around the annoying pop-up!

Hope that helps. I can't find a recipe for a mexican bake from slimming world itself, think you'll have to ask in class next week for the recipe - and then share it on here please! :D

    Hi Anna -

    Recipe for MEXICAN BAKE is:

7 oz/198g potatoes, peeled and cut into bite-sized cubes
    1 tomato, roughly chopped
1 small red onion, roughly chopped
    2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 small red pepper, deseeded and finely chopped
    7 fl oz/198 ml passata
    1 tsp ground cumin
    1/2 tsp dried oregano
A handful of fresh coriander, chopped, keeping some to garnish (I just used dried and put in two teaspoons)
    Salt and freshly ground pepper
    1.1/2 oz/42g reduced-fat cheddar cheese, grated

    Set oven to 180 degrees C/350 degrees F/Gas 4.
Boil the potatoes for 5 - 6 minutes then drain and set aside.

Meanwhile put the tomato, onion, garlic, pepper and passata in a pan with the cumin, oregano and most of the coriander.
Bring to the boil, season to taste and then reduce the heat to low and cook for 5 - 6 minutes.
Remove from the heat, stir in the potatoes and transfer to an ovenproof dish.

Sprinkle over the cheese and cook in the oven for 15 - 20 minutes or until golden and bubbling.

Garnish with the rest of the coriander and finish with a twist of black pepper.

Syns per serving Green and EE FREE (add 5.1/2 syns if not using the reduced fat cheese as a healthy extra

This recipe is to serve one (big portion) but just increase as you need to.

    It's really lovely. x

    Hello,
I have been reading for the past few days but not posting. Hugs to rachel and takeiteazy.
Have had a really busy, lovely, family weekend. We are off to Framlingham Castle today as they have a Knights Tournament on. My four year old DS is obsessed with knights, he has been as excited about this as about his birthday.
For the picnic, I am taking HB eggs, a wholemeal pitta for me, and a box of sort-of-Greek salad (lots of cucumber, tomato, oregano, bit of onion). I will take some ff vanilla yogurt and fruit for pud.
I need to check how many syns a cappucino is, as I know they do them in the cafe there and it would be a good treat when I start to flag... my son will have endless enthusiasm for it all I know!
    Hurray for bank holidays!

    Morning All

I'd like to join in with you but first I have a question. I've done SW before so I know what to do and I'm undecided whether to go to a class or give it a go at doing it alone. Any thoughts?

    Morning all!

The mexican bake (same recipe as Confused posted) was very nice and for the first time in days I felt like I'd had a satisfying tea!:j
I'm very hormonal and had to battle eating for the sake of it yesterday (hopefully will be better today with the arrival of our monthly friend!) - ended up having an ice lolly (1.5 syns), satsuma and a choc digestive (4 syns) so total syns were 8 for the day - not a disaster.

    Today will be green again....
    Breakfast - banana
Lunch - 3 ryvitas (B choice) with LC extra light (A choice), grapes, satsuma, strawberries
Tea - free creamy mushroom and tomato pasta (from SW website)
Snacks - Oaty bar (B Choice) as for syns I'm not sure yet, maybe a lolly (1.5 syns), still have the prized Dime bar...... who knows

I've just managed to catch up over the past few pages....

Hugs to Rachel - everybody has made the comments I would but take care of yourself so that you can take care of Mum. x

Takeiteasy - sorry to hear about your sinusitis - the comment about homeopathy was spot on - the remedy for sinusitis with facial tenderness is Hepar Sulph 6c - take 2 every 2 hours for 2 days. You can get it from Boots.
It's worth a try if you can't get into the doctors until tomorrow. The other oprion would be Pulsatilla - that is if the pain is more to the right of the face.

There is also a reflexology thing to clear the sinuses - firmly massage to top 1/3rd of the fingers or toes and it can clear the nose and make it run - sounds bonkers but it really works! I sort of squeeze it between my other forefinger and thumb.... Good luck!

Anyway - back to SW talk.

We have had a manic couple of weekends, but I am sticking to plan as much as I can. We were at a druid/pagan festival yesterday.... not our bag but each to their own. My husband is in a dowsing group and they had a stand there to raise awareness. I had a massage, my tarot cards read and generally had an interesting time! We took a picnic of salad, yogurt and fruit so avoided all temptation!

We had dinner with some friends last night and she had done a leg of lamb roasted over sliced potatoes with cauli/broc cheese - very nice but very off plan!!

She is a very old friend and we did SW together years ago. She is just over 6ft and is about 23 stone, had a gastric bypass 20+ years ago, and is not a great role model!!
We always chat about weight and stuff, and last night was the same (ironic chatting about losing weight after a meal like that but hey ho!)
She started on about the gastric band, and how she thought it could be my only way to get where i want to.
I have looked at it in the past, but the thought of unnecessary surgery always make me recoil, but we looked last night online, and she nearly convinced me......

On the way home DH and I chatted about why I try so hard and lose so little, and we agreed that we will work together, and stick to the plan without question,

    so ta-dah!.....

:j:jToday is the first day of my 'prove my friend (the Hogarth) wrong' diet.....:j:j

Sometimes I think I work better when I have a point to prove so this could be the spur I need:T:T

Please don't think badly of my friend - she is a person who speaks her mind and I like that about her!

Of to have a late SW free breakfast and plan the rest of this week.

    L x

I actually feel better for writing that down:).
NO EXCUSES - THIS YEAR IT'S PERSONAL..........

Julie, you can, go it alone with your books and help from this thread. If you have any financial constraints then that would be fine. I think you'd be better off spending £5 extra on healthy food. BUT, if you can afford both then I'd say join a class. I'm still very sceptical about the formulaic clapping but I think it's worth it for the 'all in this together' feeling and the general support and advice. Other opinions are, of course, available.;)

I don't agree with your friend, but each to his own. You just have to look at what people like MrsM on here (and loads in the magazines) have achieved and it proves it can be done with SW. I'm not pretending it's easy but if you're determined to prove a point.....:)

    EE day planned for today:
B: NAS squash, HEB toast, baked beans, teas with HEA milk
L: Marmite, tomato & cucumber sandwich, half a melon
D: gammon, chips, mushrooms, tomatoes, mushy peas
Snacks: may have champagne (depending on how my team does), bowl of berries
