On the question of saving up syns: I think any 'tweaking' means you wouldn't be following the plan exactly as SW designed it BUT.....

I save almost all my syns for weekends and use them for wine:o and proper gravy on my Sunday roast. I do use a few others for the odd tbsp of cornflour in sauces during the week but that's about it. Doing that, I've lost just 1lb short of 2.5 stone since I started in the last week of September so it can work.

Thanks Maman, that is quite reasuring. I am going to races with friends on Friday so i will use more syns at the weekend.

Also I am going on an All Inclusive holiday in about 3 weeks, how do you guys manage SW when on holiday, or do you just go for it and start again when you get back home.

This is another lovely thread for support and inspiration. The food diaries are great as it is giving me ideas of what to plan on eating.

    Today
B = Banana, Muller Lite Vanila and choc chip yogurt
L = Chicken Breast, potatoe and baked beans
D = I'm visiting someone so could be dangerous
Snacks, Banana, oranges, FF Strawberry yogurt.

Another question, are sweetners in tea/coffee syns

How man syns in light cranbery juice, I'm planning to give up smoking after weekend so bought some last night in preperation.

    Thanks again

    Morning all.

Didn't bother with my ready meal last night, and had a cheese, tomato & ham omelette instead. Surprisingly nice, seeing as I don't like eggs :rotfl:

    EE again for me today.

    B: Banana, satsuma
S: Pineapple, strawberries, alpen light (0.5 HEB)
L: Speed soup, sw chips, mullerlight
S: Pineapple, strawberries, alpen light (0.5 HEB), walkers baked crisps (5)
D: Jacket potato, cheese (HEA), beans, meringue (3) strawberries

Off to the gym straight after work tonight which will hopefully burn off some of the weekends' excesses.

FORGIVE ME FELLOW SW'ERS FOR I HAVE SYNNED [big time] its pre * week and I have had the chocolate cravings from hell along with some other odd cravings. Had pickled onion mash for tea :o. Think I may be half way to my weekly syns and its only Tuesday . Does anyone else have odd cravings pre * week or is it just me?:rotfl:

Two tactics I have used with success to get rid of chocolate cravings at that time of the month. One is to take a magnesium suppliment, because there is some evidence to suggest that your body is mistaking a magnesium craving for a chocolate craving, and the second sounds harsh, but my chocolate cravings and splurges were getting out of hand, so I stopped eating chocolate at all about a month ago and I really don't miss it now. :)

:hello: Hello to all the newbies  Dizzy you may need a bigger tank to fit everyone in :D

Syns - I'm a use them or lose them kinda girl mostly, I may have been heard to say 'I haven't used all my syns this week so if I go over it won't matter' but this isn't intentionally saving them IYSWIM :p. For planned special occasions I go flexi.

Todays plan is ....... TO BE GOOD [but don't hold your breath :rotfl:]

Good luck all [especially me :o]
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

Dizzyk thanks for the warm welcome. I printed off some more information today so getting better idea.

If I had had soya sauce instead of Oyster sauce would nthis have been syn free.
Ive started using garlic, ginger, soy sauce. or sprinkling chinese 5 spice in with some soy sauce.....all free :D
I have had large chicken breast, a potatoe and cauliflour tonight and am completely stuffed, does it matter how big the breast is, although it was healthy apart from the Jerk sauce I really feel I have eaten too much LOL.
chicken is free so no limit to the size ;)
I bought Half fat creme freche and extra light mayo, are these good alternative to butter for say adding bit of flavour to potatoe.
try using fromage frais with a tiny bit of mustard powder & some chives, salt&pepper .....really nice for mixing in your jacket spuds....or making potato salad or pasta salad with ;)

I also used Bovril to make gravy this evening so feel like I must be on the right track.
All stock cubes are now free so you could use oxos too

    Thanks again for your help.

ive got the 2010 one and its under 'dorset cereals' what are you looking for?
  • I'm really looking forward to my food today, having a red one :)

B - 2 slices of wholemeal toast, scrambled egg and tbsp tomato ketchup (HEB1) (1)
L - tuna, lettuce, cucumber, tbsp ex light mayo (1) co-op pitta bread (HEB2)
    Snacks - apple
T - Maggi Herbs for Chicken (2.5) carrot and swede mash, roasted mediterranean veg
Evening - will have mint choc options (2) and 250ml ss milk (HEA)

Syns for the day = 5.5

I am trying to store up my syns this week for a night out on friday, i'm still going flexi on the night, but trying to save for a 'buffer' as it were.

Could someone please tell me what the syns are in Irn Bru? The place i'm going has the worlds most disgusting diet coke so I will be drinking double vodka and irn bru instead. Going to limit myself to 5 I think, so just wanna tot up how many syns that will be for the night.
