02 march 2011 old style daily thread

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 2nd March. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

I hope that everyone one is well.
We never had the chicken breasts for dinner last night, In the end we had some more of the left over beef cooked in then with some peppers, onion, garlic, mushrooms, and carrots. We then mixed in some plumb sauce that we had from aldi. In in a glass bottle. Im not sure how much the cost of it was. But it was very tasty. Its the first time we have tryed this range of cooking sauces from aldi. There are a few in the range and we shall be trying some of the others now that we have got on well with this one.
With served it will rice.
Well not much to report here.
Iv got a cornish pasty for my lunch at work, pluss my normal fruit that i take.
Not sure what we will be haveing for dinner tonight.

Morning All,
Well my day today has mainly been spent catching up on laundry as Ive been rather slack in that area recently. Seven loads later, all washed and dried, i will tackle the ironing tomorrow lol.
Ive spent the rest of my time researching how to make sushi as I brought the bits to make it a while back but as yet i havent tried to do it, so thats my aim for next week. It should make a nice change from tuna sandwiches for Hubs lunches.
I had menu planned bbq chicken with mexican rice for dinner but i dont feel like cooking.......I dont know how you all do it! I think i need to take more time menu planning and not just use up things i have in my cupboards but also take into account the amount of prep each dish needs. I know Im not working and have time to do lots of prep but i find if there is a lot involved after a few days of doing the same I loose my mojo with it all
Anyway, off to try and find motivation to cook!
Have a great day everyone

Pixie, I've a recipe for sushi somewhere - the california rolls I have the recipe for. Will try and find it for you. But google it as I remember it being very easy (when I watched it being made!!).
Flying through the house today, dinner will be something from the freezer and will ensure that OH writes his CV today - grrrrr. Hugs to those in need.Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all
The washing dried on the line overnight, so got it in at 5:30 this morning & my hands are still cold.
Breakfast eaten, packups made, hubby dropped at the station, fish fed etc. I'm off to work soon, it's cold at work as the heating goes off on 1st March, my room's not too bad as my radiator is attached to the hot water system, though this does mean the room is like an oven during the summer months.
Spag bol for tea tonight & the leftover sauce will then be made into cottage pie.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning.
Today I shall mostly be doing housework.
Yesterday was an exciting day. If hectic. Hardly anyone got their e-mail regarding schools. Eventually at about midday, word got out of a telephone number to call. Anyway DD got her 1st choice high school!
My baby girl is growing up.
I'm going to get the flylady list & also what I need to do.
I shall not be back till lunch time!
Love (((hugs))) & spoons

Morning everyone
Not posted for ages - feel like I'm running just to keep still! 1st 2 GC of the year I've failed miserably, house going to wrack & ruin, 'new' job (more or less my own that I had to re-apply for) 75% less pay than 'old', so budgeting will be laughable at times!
The only bright spot is a surprise present from my oldest DD of a new bag as a thank you for something (Ca+h K!dston)
Feel better for a little moan - sorry!
A little cold here, but at least it's not raining. Got loads of towels & bedding to do today, hope they can go on line. Tea not christened yet, but got some reduced chicken breast from Marks so that's the basis of tea.
Hope you all have a good day, will try to pop in again.

Morning all
Dry and overcast here, not sure about the temperature as haven't ventured out yet.
DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Dinner last night was cheese on toast for the boys and jacket potatoes for myself and DH. Tonight I will be cooking the chicken I had bought for Sunday that we didn't eat. Will do the boys mash and veg with theirs and probably salad with mine and chips for DH - we're going out tonight, it's not often that we get to go out on our own so very much looking forward to it. Mum and dad are coming here to keep on eye on the boys. Have menu planned for tomorrow to, so will need to remember to get the meat out of the freezer later.
Work was hectic yet again yesterday, so hoping it will calm down a bit today.
DS2 got his place at the senior school of our choice (it's the catchment school, his DH is already there, and it's the only school we put on the form!) so no real surprise there!
Haven't been able to run since pulling muscle in my leg on Monday, now starting to have withdrawal symptoms, but must rest it until the weekend.
Just working today until lunchtime, then on days off, have quite a bit to do, having boiler serviced first thing Friday morning and hoping my plumber can sort out the leak under the sink, that the washing machine people have caused grrr.... but at least I've got my connection money back.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
