Vauxhall lifetime guarantee scam

Rather small relative to overall sales.
Is everyone a pedant on here?
To clarify: I was speaking from the perspective of Vauxhall themselves -- they are the ones that will have most to gain or lose from this warranty. The overall cost to Vauxhall of this deal will be minor due to the fact that, as a percentage of the cars they sell, few of them will be effectively covered.0 -

I think you'll find that resale values of newer Kias and Hyundais are somewhat better than Vauxhalls, and even in some cases than Fords, these days. I acknowledge that Chevrolet still have a major problem in this regard, but then they have only been running their expanded warranty for a few months so it is too early to tell.
(Toyota haven't lost the reliability angle, at least with people who see past all the politicking in the US).
Where did you hear that?The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Your post implied that Vauxhall sell a "rather small" amount of cars thorough their dealer network. Where do you get this **** from.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
What back door?
So, I take it you've never bought through a broker then.
They do not, and will not, reveal the name of the dealer until you buy the car.
There isn't anything underhand about the sale (in case you are reading non-existent meaning into my words again) but the dealers who are selling the cars do not want it to be widely known that they are selling cars at a substantial discount.
Because these cars are usually pre-registered, they do not qualify for this deal unless they are sold through NetworkQ -- which of course they are not.
Many private buyers buy cars in this way, and under the circumstances I have outlined, will not gain the benefit of the lifetime warranty. Reducing the number of cars Vauxhall need to support past three years.0 -

If you inferred that from my words, then I apologise for confusing you.
I will rephrase my point for the benefit of those who do not understand:
If you take the total number of cars that Vauxhall sells, and subtract from that value*:
1) the cars that are resold after three years due to their being fleet sales;
2) those private buyers who keep their cars for three years or less, or drive more than 100,000 miles in a short period;
3) those who buy their cars from brokers who are selling the cars as pre-registered at a substantial saving
you end up with a figure that is much less than 50% of the total cars sold by Vauxhall (a "rather small" number in relation to Vauxhall's total sales).
Comparing that with the like of Hyundai's warranty. Because the Hyundai warranty is completely compatible with (1), (2) and (3), far more of Hyundai's cars sold (expressed as a percentage) are covered under their expanded warranty package, even if on paper it is shorter.
So, in other words, the cost to Vauxhall for their package is much less than that to Hyundai due to the wording.
Of course, if you are a Vauxhall customer who isn't covered by the above, then you're getting a good deal.0 -
Yes, and how many of these are anywhere near as cheap as the online bargains?
Well, seeing as you are the one with all the answers, why don't you tell us.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
