[EDIT]: So sorry - i missed the current thread where everyone is suffering similar problems! Shambolic.

Apologies for slight thread revival, but thought I might share my recent experiences:

So the switchover has begun: I tried to log on to Egg and my Egg creditcard has disappeared from my list. So I tried to log on to my Barclaycard account and here's where my disappointment starts.

    1. The initial security passphrases are a bit woeful. Make sure you change your username away from your card number, and your password away from your date of birth!

    2. New interface is a bit confusing, but that's only because it's new. Delving a bit deeper I discover some problems:
    i) It says I've missed a payment
ii) Trying to view recent transactions the website returns an error and logs me out!

    3. I phone Barclaycard and get through to their Indian call centre - the usual deal with hard to hear operators who you constantly doubt have English as A language, let alone their first.

    4. I am assured that they have received my payment on the 21st October. This is a physical impossibility as I didn't send it until the 24th October. The operator further reveals they have changed my statement date from the 11th to the 9th as the 11th "was not available"! He advises against changing back for a couple of months. My direct debit date will stay the same.. apparently.

    5. Passed to a completely different person for my "website problem" who I have to go through security again with and explain again. I am told that recent transactions will not be available for probably a week.

This is a very sad state of affairs. I was actually ringing to potentially initiate a chargeback, but I don't trust them to handle it right so didn't bring it up.

So, all of us who predicted that we would lose our good Customer Service that we had with Egg appear to have been utterly vindicated.
  • I've just seen my new barclaycard statement, following the switch from egg, and I was charged interest - not happy because I had a DD set-up with egg to pay off the balance in full every month.
This was apparently due to last months DD payment not being for the 'full' amount, but this was because there had been a shop refund before the DD was taken (this is normal and happens to most people). However, since Barclaycard were told this was not a full balance payment they charged interest incorrectly (they must have ignored the shop refund or egg didn't give them the right info) - so I had to phone up to get it removed.
Wonder if this will happen to other people who had a refund in the days leading up to switchover and get charged interest without noticing??
