My post relates to Egg Money.
I have read all the posts. It was on the cards that this day would come. I can't see Barclaycard making any money out of me if they stop the purchase rebate scheme.
There is no point, in my view, in using the card any further until the future of the purchase rebate scheme is confirmed by Barclaycard.
My Egg Money card is on ice, with a zero balance, awaiting the annual purchase rebate.
I will wait to see what Barclaycard offer. If it is anything like they have got already then the answer is no. I would not be a surprised if they offered nothing.

I thought that was done over a year ago. Unless they did not enforce it.0 -

Correct, but anecdotally youu can still do it.
If you only xfer credit balances I don't believe there are any charges.0 -
Interestingly, my Egg payment made on 28th Feb is showing on my account as going to an "Advantage" card - not one of the Barclaycard named cards. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Anyone know when they will start merging the Egg Money accounts into Barclaycard?
We have a Barclaycard but stopped using it last year when they took our cashback to 0.00 (we spend over £1000 a month on it). Trying to reason with the indian call centre and get the cashback back was enough for us to stop using it and switch to using Egg Money instead.
Have been very happy with Egg and now hear the news they are being taken over from Barclaycard. Not at all happy
Just a warning. I stopped using my Barclaycard when they messed with the cashback rates and cleared the balance to £0 and have £200 cashback due in September.
I have today recieved a response eventually to a letter I sent them complaining about these changes that I consider arragant in tone as it not only basically says "tough" but advises me and I quote.
"May I refer you to the Terms and Conditions of your Barclaycard Cashback card on two pertinent points, should any party terminate the credit agreement during the aniversary any cashback will be lost. This means if you close your account cashback earned will be forfeit. I hope you do not wish to take this action. Likewise if the account runs with a zero balance for over six months again any cashback award will be lost."
cheeky bas***ds
and to add insult to injury the letter closes.
quote;
" I hope that my explanation was helpfull and as a much valued customer with Barclaycard, I sincerely hope that your relationship with us will continue."
end quote
Looks like I will have to make an effort and make a £1 purchase every month from Iceland. might p*ss them off at Iceland but it has to be done...0 -

Does anyone know what will happen to the extended warranty when Barclays takeover for items that were purchased before the annoncement?0

who knows.......I suspect they (Barcalys) will wriggle out of any commitments that they can
which is why I have just applied (and been accepted for) a Halifax Clarity Reward account, wife will be getting one in her name as well so thats £10 extra a month...not quite as good as eggs cashback but comes close.....I applied now as there was somthing in the weekly email about a rumour that this card will be closed to new applicants on monday but not confirmed. Plan to use this from this month when I get my egg cashback, if barclays keep eggcashback going then have not lost anything0 -
