MSE News: Barclaycard to buy 1.15 million Egg customers

Thanks Froggitt. Appreciate it.
What is likely to happen then? Will the limit/balance then increase on my current Barclaycard or will a new one be issued without the ability to make new transactions (should they decide upon this)?0 -
I think up front, they will just give you another Barclaycard of some description or another, with the same limit/balance as your egg card.
Further down the line......who knows.illegitimi non carborundum0 -

What I like is this:
Will Barclaycard rebrand all Egg cards? Will I have to have a Barclaycard?
Yes as the Egg brand remains with Egg. As we get closer to transferring your account, Barclaycard will be in contact with you and will send you a new card (if you satisfy their reissue criteria).
My emboldening - but clearly take nothing for granted!0 -
That's what confused me. If you don't satisfy the criteria and don't get a new card, what happens? How do you carry on paying back the balance?
Sorry if these are silly quesitons.0 -
I seem to vaguely remember something similar happening when egg re-introduced Egg Money last year was it, or when they did their wholesale closure of account 18+ months ago? Did they not simply freeze account balances to prevent any spending, and then just have them paid down over a period of time prior to closure? If you didn't satisfy re-issue criteria I'm assuming Barclaycard would do something similar, i.e. transfer the debt but just have the balance paid off before the account was closed by them, but obviously no card issued and therefore unable to build more debt on the 'Barclaycard' account? A very simplistic interpretation I know, but just my own take on how it might happen. Others may have more technical/detailed knowledge of the process that might be followed in those circumstances?0

How do you carry on paying back the balance?
In the normal way e.g direct debit, BACS, cash, cheque etc.
Your account will still need to be paid off, but you won't get a new card to spend on.0 -
Thanks Copperplate and Lisyloo.
I know it is only guesswork, but you say there might be a time limit to pay back the balance - what is this likely to be?0 -
I have an egg card with a limit of 1,700 sitting idle having not been used for a while. I was looking to apply for a barclaycard 0% card, will this transfer from egg to barclaycard affect my chances of being approved for a barclaycard at this moment in time?:eek:Credit Card Debts: £11,605.95/£16,240.53 - 71% paid off.
£4,634.61 credit card debt remaining. Aim for credit card debt free before [STRIKE]October 2011[/STRIKE] December 2012. In debt since 2004.0 -
If you have PPI claims who do you send them to EGG or Barclays and will Barclays managed them?0

Just logged in to egg today and been asked to confirm details of my newly issued card (not received yet) even though my current card still has 2 months left to run; so it looks like the re-issue process has started. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.
