I was so anxious about joing the 40 club, but I'm not too bad now.
My cousin doesn't want a fuss - but we are going out for a meal and her husband called me last night to get me to make a cake for her to take to the restaurant. So, the pressure is on now - do I make a chocolate ganache cake or a giant cupcake? Going to have a go at the giant cupcake in the week to see how it comes out - need to practice to make sure it looks good.
Food plan is going ok so far, had Swordfish with Jacket Pot, Salad and HM Tatziki last night.
Tonights offering is Spag Bol made with Turkey mince.

Good to hear you had a nice holiday MCI.
Ohh a giant cupcake would be great!
Practice makes perfect plus all those "samples" need eating too!

Hey LP - I think I will try the giant cupcake route - my work colleagues are quite enthusiastic about sample cake!
Been looking on You Tube for a simple way to decorate them as the receipe I have has piped roses on it!!!!
Last nights dinner has a takeway container full of leftovers, so that has gone in the freezer.
Lamb Chop dinner tonight - I like to throw most of the veg (excluding greens) in the roasting tin with the chops - not the most healthly, but delish...
Why are my posts mainly about food? lol

Thanks for stopping by.
Of course you are still allowed on the thread :rotfl:everyone is welcome here!
I like to keep track of my meal planning on here as it keeps me focused (well 90% of the time!).
Had a lovely meal out with my cousin last night for her birthday and the Giant Cupcake was a hit.
Had a bit of a nightmare, but got there in the end.
Cake No 1: Base ok. Top had crumbled in places. So made again.
Cake No 2: Perfect!
Icing Attempt 1: Icing too thick - recipe is a bit strange - couldn't get icing out of piping bag - so added more butter. First attempt was rubbish. Took icing off.
Icing Attempt 2: Added more butter and tried again - bit better, but not the smooth finish I wanted - got DH's opinion and he said to do again (as at first he thought I was being too self critical).
Icing Attempt 3: Made new batch using half butter and half margarine and it came out much smoother - still not exactly as I would have liked it but really not bad for a first attempt at making this cake.
So, serious lessons learnt, but the end result was good.
Phew! Glad got that out of my system.

Car is in for a service today and taking the cat to the vets later for annual boosters - so an expensive day really.
Car tax is due at the end of the month too - may leave me a bit short of OP's this month, but we have to see how it goes.
DH keeps putting 50ps in the pot - so should reach the next £20 really quickly (well there's £40 OP).
Need to read gas and electric meters tonight - keep forgetting!
Apart from that, not much to report - work is a bit rubbish at the moment, but heyho - it pays the bills and keeps the OPs ticking over.
Dinner tonight is salmon and pasta with that cram & dill sauce (we just love this meal - quick, simple and very tasty).

Hi
Finally submitted Gas and Electric readings online (had had a card pushed through for electic reading too) - so readings will be the same - in credit with both - so all good there.
Car cost £226 (major service) & cat service cost £36! It was hell getting the cat into the basket - it gets worse each time - lots of hissing and spitting!
Bit short on cash now, so DH is taking me out tonight (his treat) to see The Dark Knight Rises (registered for the cinema site and got 10% off + cashback!) and a bite to eat.
Back to frugality tomorrow.
Happy Tuesday everyone!

Did I mention that the main reason I am short this month is because I bought a new printer?
Always wanted a colour laser and they had a really good deal on at Staple* and I didn't want to miss out as it was £80 off!
Anyway - I decided last night that I was being silly and I have transferred some money from my savings to cover the cost of the printer.
I should now be able to get to the end of the month without going overdrawn and will have paid for all my car and cat expenses (road tax up end of the month too) without borrowing cash off DH - he has offered, but I like to be self sufficient.
Enjoyed the film last night and I made a deal with DH that I would pay for the cinema tickets if he paid for tea! It was a good deal really(cinema £9 v tea £25!) but I always feel guilty when he pays as I am used to paying my own way - mad really as we are married, but its always been the same.
Going to get some shopping on the way home as I have nothing out for tea tonight. On Wednesdays we have a nice meal and a bottle of wine and that meal tends to be a roast of some description - but I have nothing in the freezer for that sort of meal, so need to get that sorted for the next 3 weeks as its a five week month:eek:.

DH locked me in the house this morning!
Brother had to come and resuce me - so was late for work!
Only spent £7 at Mr T on the way home last night - result.
Herr A tonight - very short shopping list.
