What a weekend, did not stop...Kids party buffet went well and even got an enquiry for another one from one of the mums (not till next May - but an enquiry all the same).

Was shattered after cooking and helping out at the party, so we were naughty and went out for tea! Shouldn't have really as we are going out again on Wednesday.

Gave the house a good tidy yesterday and its finally getting someway back to normal - put all my catering stuff back in the loft and got things at least in the rooms they are supposed to be in.

Then went up the allotment for a couple of hours - a friend has been up on Saturday and done some as I said I'd pay him to do some (not very MSE - but it really needed doing) - its looking better now, but still a long way to go. Brought all the rubbish back with us and filled our green bin and that of two neighbours and still five backs to go into ours when they have been to empty on Thursday.

Need to carry on with the house sorting tonight and get inherited paperwork put away out of the way ready to sort when we get back from holiday.

Just 4 more sleeps till we go away (not that I'm counting at all).

Only a few bits I've got to get to take with us - will get those later, or tomorrow (depending how I feel when I finish work today).

Should just about be able to squeeze a £200 OP out of the bank account when I get back - but we will see how we go.

  • Hi LP - should smash that target this year - next few payments will be smaller, but we are probably going to be looking at a revised target of around £3000 for 2012.

thats 50% more than you had planned! good effort, did you underestimate what you thought you could manage or have you managed to make extra savings?

Thats a quick settlement on your friend that died, we are no closer to the end on my aunt who died 18 months ago. I think our lawyer is "pants" by the looks of things.

Hope you have a great holiday, I always pray for rain back home whenever I go away. Always puts a smile on my face to know I escaped it :rotfl:

Bit of both really...the interest rate dropping on the mortgage has enabled me to overpay more, I have made some savings on bills, I had some bonus that I squirrelled away to overpay once the fixed rate ended and there have been bits and pieces of earned money and what dad's given me for going to the hospital with him - its all added up.

Our friends' affairs have been handled by the bank as the executors and he did pretty much keep everything in order leaving very specific instructions for everything. The speed of the house sale surprised me, especially because of the climate at the moment - but it was a bargain to the people who have bought it.

Thanks for the holiday wishes, really looking forward to it - though I hope it cheers up in the UK for all my colleagues who arn't going away.:rotfl:

    3 more sleeps...the countdown continues.

Mortgage protection insurance has reduced again due to the regular monthly payment dropping - so thats another couple of quid that can be added to the OP exch month.

Had fish with cherry tomato, pesto and creme fraiche sauce last night with rice and veggies.

Tonights tea will be spag bol - have forgotten to get the mince out of the freezer, but it isn't all bad as its the one thing that can be defrosted quite successfully in the microwave.

Got to pop to my mum's on the way home as she decided on Saturday that she wanted me to get her something (when I had already been to the shops on Friday! and she knew this!) - oh well, give me a chance to catch up with them and my brother before I go away.

    Hi all

This will be last update until I get back off holiday as things are manic here and not going to get much chance for browsing!

Not much to report really. Ate out last night using the £20 that Dad gave me to dig the garden last week.

Chicken stir fry tonight - using anything edible left in the fridge.

Need to quickly palnt my little gems and spring onions when I get home and give the tomatoes a good water. Need to pick the courgettes that are on the plants and give them a good water and feed.

Packing will be done in the morning as I have a charity meeting tonight (really not ideal!). Off to the airport about 11am tomorrow, so should have enough time to iron and pack the pile of clothes I have put ready.

Hope everyone has a good week. Will be able to spend some time catching up with your diaries when I get back as I have another week off work.

    Take care all.

    Hi all

and thanks megela for the holiday wishes. Had a great time thanks, wish we had booked for two weeks now.

Been back a week now and it feels like I haven't been away, but its been nice to be off work and get a few things done. I must admit though I have been totally distracted by reading and haven't got as much done round the house as I would have liked - finished the series of books last night, so today I am going to crack on with my other jobs without fear of further book distractions.

Made an OP on Wednesday of £200, which quite nicely brings me over my target for this year. £50 has gone into the isa this month and the shopping has started off well. Got to remember that its a five week month and that can be a killer for the grocery budget, so careful planning required.

Anyway, just thought I'd check in before I go back to work on Monday when I can post the full low down on the mortgage figures as the spreadsheet is on my desktop at work!

Off to update signature though...really please things have gone well with the overpayments so far this year.

Hope everyone is ok - catch up with your diaries soon.

Counted up another £20 worth of 50ps from Penguin Pot that I will pay in and OP at the end of the month. We are nearly up to the next £20 too - so tempted to OP that at the same time too!

Mr T savings stamps are adding up. After not getting any for a couple of months I have nearly caught up and now have £29 towards Christmas shopping (really should mention the winter fetive season until at least September!!!). Got about £15 in boots points and about £28 in clubcard vouchers, so these savings are going pretty well at the moment. There, done - won't mention it again until nearer the time.

Back to work today, but time is going quite quickly for a change.

Got to get a birthday present for my cousin this week - she is joining me in the 40 club on Saturday. We don't normally do presents, but this is a special occassion - got no idea what to get her though.

Need to book both the car and the cat in for services too...

Going to catch up with a couple more diaries before getting back to it....

    HI MCI,

Glad you had a nice holiday, you look forward to it for so long!!!

Our holiday this summer seems to consist of clearing/doing up DHs new business premises.

We've promised ourselves a big holiday next year though. Although when it comes to booking it and seeing the price I'll probably reconsider!!

PS have just joined you in the 40 club too!!
