Monday morning again... hope everyone had a good weekend.
Grocery spends stands at £129 and a few pence. Was quite pleased with my shop this weekend and what I got for my money.
Couldn't resist a bargain on some cumberland sausages - was buying sausages anyway and got 12 thick sausages for £2.19 (half price) which will do us two meals instead of the one I was setting out for (unfortunately, that is 6 extra sausages in the freezer!!!).
Swapped Saturday nights tea for Chicken & Mush pies and mash - but were still out of the freezer, and we are going to have the Basa Fillets tonight.
Managed to sort the house out on Saturday, but sadly the pile of paperwork is still sitting there on my dressing table - I just ran out of time. Sorted some charity stuff out though and thats a couple more things off the overall To Do List.
Also swapped Dads phone package, so he has all his calls included and won't be spending stupid money on quarterly bills any more.
Spent a couple of hours yesterday going through my good food mags looking for canape ideas for a buffet we are doing in September - got quite a long list - now to test them...mmmm.
Got a couple of friends coming round later for a pre-birthday drink, so I'm glad I got the house sorted - just got to make sure that I clear up the dinner stuff straight away tonight.

The lads at work have bought me champagne and flowers and I've had a lovely bracelet from my only female colleague!
Finally know where DH is taking me on my trip, and we are going to Rome over the Easter break. Really, really looking forward to that, I have always wanted to go.
I have had lots of other pressies too and everyone has been so kind - just feeling a little overwelmed at the moment.
Didn't end up having the fish last night because our friends came round early and we wnded up with mushroom ommlette and wedges - but it really hit the spot! (Can someone tell me how to spell omlette ! It always looks wrong to me.)
Out for birthday meal tonight - having Italian - and I get a treat as its the restaurant I have my amaretto sour cocktail!
Mum & Dad have given me some money, so I will be putting £25 towards the mortgage OP.
I was feeling really down about turning 40, but everyone has been so nice - my blues have been chased away - and its sunny outside!

Happy belated birthday MCI, sounds like you had a lovely day.
I hope you enjoy Rome, its a beautiful city. Now just to learn how to ask for your favourite drink in Italian!

Thank you Froggy, LP, Welshlady and uzubairu for your birthday wishes.
I had a lovely evening MSE for me as I didn't spend a penny;).
Back to the grind today, but I know I have some lovely flowers to go home to this evening.
DH bought me a phrase book - so I will be learning key phrases - most of the Italian I already know is to do with food, so should be ok there.
Will be sorting the insurance out later and going through quidco for cashback.
Thanks Froggy for correcting my spelling - just seem to have a block with that word - nuts really as I have got English A Level!!!
Dinner tonight is Pork Chops with Sage, Honey & Fennel Seeds with Roast Potatoes and Veggies. Pork chops are from the freezer and were yellow stickered from co-op from before Christmas - DH picked them up for 67p!

Been preparing my meal plan for the next week and I really don't need to get much! Probably looking at £10-12 tops for everything.
Going the make HM Cottage Pie tonight as we have a large box of mushrooms that DH bought on Saturday that really need using up and it would be a shame for them to go to waste - always put mushrooms in my cottage pie to bulk it out and just because I love mushrooms. Might keep a couple back for stuffed mushrooms.....mmmmm.
There probabaly will be a few portions to go back in the freezer though! Nevermind - we will get there eventually.
Going to make a concerted effort to get my savings and stuff sorted out this weekend as I want to get my isa swapped over to one with a better insterest rate and make a deposit so I will have used some of my allowance this year.
I know that they are planning something for me on Saturday as I have been told that I am being picked up at 4.30pm! Apart from that, I know nothing...

Just a quick update, as I have a busy day ahead and don't think I'll get back on today...
Didn't make the cottage pie last night as got home late and DH was going out, so did Omelette for him and Cous Cous, Tomato, Spring Onion and Feta Cheese Mixture for me when I got back from dropping DH up town. So failed on the cottage pie, but managed to keep last nights food 'in house'.
Another attempt at Cottage Pie will be made tonight.
Grocery spends stand at £133.07. Small shop at Mt T tonight - though got to add Brown Sauce to the list for DHs sandwich on Sunday.
Hope everyone has a great weekend - enjoy.
