  • Grocery spends for this month are up to £150.10, so still well on target.

Weekend was ok, didn't really do much and nothing really on the money saving front.

On the flip side a really bad dragging noise (so loud it drowned the radio out) and rubber burning smell on the car this morning - so straight into the garage after driving to work at 15 mph - will find out later what the damage is. Fortunately the garage are just over the road from work - but who knows what its going to cost...good job I have a contingency fund.

Boo...not very good start to the week.

  • News is just in on the car...Suspension Coil Spring has corroded and snapped, which inturn has b**gered up the suspension leg and the tyre is jiggered too when it was catching. £258 to fix.

  • DH has been talking about taking me on a weekend away for my birthday present.

He can't do it as a total surprise because our holidays are very awkward at work and there are only set times we can have them - the times we can choose ourselves are dependant on whether anyone else has booked time off - its sensible really as we are a small company, by DH gets very frustrated that we can't go away at anytime - he can take his holidays when he likes.

Not very moneysaving I know - I have told DH that I don't want him spending too much money on my birthday, (I just want it to creep by without anyone noticing really) but he just nodded in that way that you know that he's totally ignoring what you are saying...as long as it coming out of his money and not the joint account...lol.

  • Grovery Spends are up to £150.90 (had to get coriander for last nights tea)!

LO Pork Meatballs are in the freezer for another time and we have HM Turkey Stirfry tonight - was just going to do it with noodles, but feel like I need filling up (so hungry in this cold weather), so think I'm going to make some HM Egg Fried Rice to go with it.

Hopefully he can come up with an idea thats cheap and enjoyable.

My birthday is next few days and i've told OH not to waste money on a card or anything like that. Might go for a meal to our favourite restaurant and that will suit me fine.

Hope you have a good one MCI!

Thanks LP...hope you have a good birthday.

Mine is a month away, but its a big one (hence why I want it to creep by), so he feels he has to spend more...

We will definately be going for a meal at our favourite restaurant too - that I know already.

    Hope you enjoy your meal.

  • Turkey stirfry turned into turkey egg fried rice last night - but no money spent yesterday on food at least - paid for the car repair yesterday.

Tonight is lamb chop dinner - and yes, I remembered to get the chops out of the freezer...

Organic veg bag delivery today, so can't avoid spending today, but its all accounted for. Usually have a bought lunch on a Wednesday, but have brought some HM Soup from home....mmmmm.

This post is very foody, must be because I'm hungry (again!)

  • Bought a sandwich today as there was only enough bread for DHs sandwiches - but one a week is budgeted for...

Cooked some jacket potatoes while the lamb chops were doing last night - will have them for dinner tomorrow night with some HM stew or chilli from the freezer.

Something quick and easy from stores tonight as DH 'might' be going out - but its not set in stone yet.

Got a couple of things to do charity-wise, but have decided that they can wait till the weekend as I'm so tired at the moment and can't face another night where I don't go straight home.

Mealplan is sorted for next week except I'm not sure what to cook for Valentines Day - going to have a dig around in the freezer tonight to and see what goodies we have got in there.

I know we have a camenbert in the fridge that is just ready to be baked in the oven....
