  • Now the problem is that although I've had my pay, I haven't had my dividened yet - I suppose that will come in cheque form on the 31st.

Anyhoo - decided I'm going to make an OP of £400 next week after my regular payment has gone out.

Funeral of family friend is on Tuesday and although they are not things to look forward to, I will be glad when its out of the way so to speak.

Meal is booked for tomorrow - really looking forward to it - we are getting a taxi so we can both have a drink - nice to push the boat out once in a while.

  • Still looking forward to my meal....really hungry, but don't want to spoil my appetite...Chicken Salad Sandwich is going down well at the moment...

Spent £27 in Herr A yesterday and Mr T big shop is on the cards tonight, but can't really call it a big shop as did some of it last week to get the £5 off voucher!

Butchers for chicken and Mr W for sausages tomorrow and apart from fresh stuff I will be well and truly stocked up for the month.

Going to visit one of my suppliers on Monday who is retiring next week - he's been ill for a few years, but its time for him to take it easy. Factored in a bottle of wine into tonights shop as a parting gift. Will need to do a dry run on Sunday so I know where I'm going - its been a couple of years since I've been there, and I've never driven there myself - its not far, just unfamiliar territory!

Hope everyone has a great weekend...

  • Really enjoyed my meal out on Friday and so did DH. Had Red Snapper and it was really nice.

Got the rest of the shopping done, and I have spent £129 so far this month - but I'm stocked up and I don't think there we will any trouble spending less than £70 over the next 3 weeks.

Went to see my supplier today, he really wants to retire, but is going to miss the contact will other people - I'm going to miss him too, we always have such good chats! Managed to get there and back without getting lost too...bonus.

Decided that all being well with the weather I'm going to do the OP on Wed or Thurs when my regular mortgage payment has gone out.

Still waiting on the dividend - my colleage asked me about this morning - as far as I know we will get it tomorrow? Just have to wait and see.

Did MILs Self Assessment last night and I just can't beleive that her pension provider has messed up on Basic Rate Tax that is supposed to be paid every month. It has left her with a bill of £175, which although isn't a fortune, is unwelcome when her pensions and part-time job should deduct the tax at source.

I've told her that if she can't get the money back, she should ask for compensation - may or may not work, but worth a go.

    Funeral tomorrow....

  • Thanks again for your support Froggy.

Funeral was a bit rough really (and boy was it cold up at the cemetary! its was trying to snow!) - felt carp yesterday when I got back to work. Got so many things going on in my head - but I'm sure I will get them straightened out and put back in their little boxes in a couple of days. DH has been very understanding and has listened to me rambling on..and on...and on!

Going to do a letter for my friend today for the tax office - her wages dept have been applying the wrong tax code even though HMRC have sent them the right information and she's been left with a £400+ bill - not very fair. My friend doesn't understand tax (well neither do I, but at least I have a fair idea of how its worked out etc...) DH wrote a similar letter to the tax office and got his bill reduced from over £500 to £18! - my friend and DH share the same wages dept - so hopefully HMRC will see that they are carp and make allowances.

Will be going to make my OP tomorrow - regular mortgage payment goes out today.

Hope everyone ok. Cold today isn't it?

  • Just made my OP of £400!

This brings the mortgage down to £15711.49 (approx) with daily interest @ £2.88.

Mortgage free date will be Feb 2020 - which brings my MF age down to 47 (just).

Really excited how its going this year so far - I know its going to slow down for a bit now until the fixed rate ends in July.

    Hi Miss,

Well done on the OP! :T

Daily interest is starting to come down and 2020 is a nice round end date. Works well with my OCD :rotfl:

Glad to see the end is really in sight for you. Must be a nice feeling to be so close.

Yeah, its good to see the end in sight - hope to bring it even closer - and then I'll probably ruin it all by going to buy a bigger house with DH :rotfl:Be good when the fixed rate comes to an end - not planning on having another one as for such as small mortgage they really bump it up.

Thanks you LP and Froggy for the support...:)

Back to boring money-saving! How am I going to last the month before my next OP!!!!

Spent £4.95 in Herr A last night and the shopping list for Mr T is short this week, so I am confident that I will bring this weeks shopping in under £20.

DH has given me back the money he owed me for Christmas (£60) and so I'm going to put half of this towards the next OP as I haven't really missed it out of my bank account. MIL has insisted in giving me £75.40 back of the £175.40 tax bill I paid for her last weekend - I told her not to rush to pay me back, but she's feeling guilty. That is going to go back in the bank as its part of my bonus.

Had the pension guy in at work today as we are having a new company scheme - it will actually mean there are less fees being paid to the pension company and more in my pension pot, so all good. Have decided to put an extra £10 a month in as my payment hasn't actually changed for years and years and I think its about time I increased my contribution. There are other benefits to this scheme, so its a good option.

Dividened cheque has still not appeared...but my colleague in accounts has been really busy this week doing VAT etc...

Looking forward to the weekend and really glad that this week is out the way.

Takeaway pizza for tea tonight with a deal that came through on my mobile, so only £5 each for an XXL pizza delivered to the door....mmmmm.....can't wait.
