I've been caught out by late night software updates too - horrible! Sometimes I've just let it run, which always makes me slightly dubious...

Something permanent to remember loved ones ... it's tricky, isn't it. When my brother in law died, my sister had a *lot* of insurance money come her way, and she decided to give £1,000 for an acre of Woodland Trust wood, at a specified place, to be named in his memory, they sent a map marking it out. Its a bit much, I know, but there may be other things. Oh, benches! A bench at a favourite spot? Didn't mean to push, it just popped into my head :)

I looked at Woodland Trust for my Dad's memorial (as originally he wanted to be buried under a tree :rotfl:) - but decided against it due to the cost.

I think I am thinking about a rockery - we have lots of rocks and a separate bed in the garden where it could go. This would be collective for Nan, Grandma, plus Grandad's et al - just a memorial 'patch of' garden - maybe with special plants for each of them?? One Grandad loved to grow Roses and Cacti (:)) the other Roses and Fuschias. Both my Nan and my Grandma were named after flowers :) - our family friend who died a few years ago was a biologist and loved all sorts of flowers.

Dad wasn't keen on flowers, but loved to grow his vegetables :rotfl::rotfl: I am having a veggie patch - so maybe that can be for him :rotfl:

Looks like most of the garden is going to be in memory of...

Sorry things are tough at the mo ent. I think the 'memorial garden/veg patch :D' is a lovely idea.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Gotcha! Yes, I love that - when my nan gave up her council house to go into sheltered housing, we took some plants that were special to my grandad.

It makes sense I think - we haven't got 'graves' to visit apart from our biologist friend (whose grave I look after) - and to have it all in the back garden is wonderful.

Funeral is on 20th April - glad it's not next week as it's the anniversary of Dad's death and I just don't think I can cope with any more at the moment.

I have arranged to have the time off work and they are fine with it - lucky in that respect.

Might be that DH drives me up there (so we can do there and back in a day). I don't want to put him out (or make him book holiday), but it might be the best solution in the long run so I don't impose on them at this difficult time.

No particular money news at the moment - small shop last night (£15) and a few bits to get from Mr T later.

Turkey Meatballs (from the freezer) with HM veggie & tomato pasta sauce tonight.

Can't wait to go to my Yoga class today - think I am in need - though I don't feel the best, so promise not to overdo it.

    Happy Friday everyone.

PS DH Gas Fitter friend is coming tomorrow to look at the heating.
PPS Forgot that we have the kitchen planning appointment on Sunday!
PPPS Still got to complete spreadsheets, but at least number crunching is done.

I'm glad you've got yoga today - sounds like you've got an awful lot on your plate for the next fortnight, so that'll help, I'm sure. Do you do Salute to the Sun or anything on your own? I don't do it myself, but I always remember wending my way about yoga pads when visiting friends :) it's a lovely atmosphere.

    Take care.

Hi KC - yoga was good on Friday...

I have done the Sun Sequence in class, but not on my own yet.

Need to work out a sequence I can do that lasts about 20 mins and then I can do that on a more regular basis.

It feels so nice when you have grasped the basics and can enjoy the sequences.

    So, another week begins:

Managed to get quite alot achieved over the weekend.

    - Letter delivered to the allotment
    - Chores done
    - Deep fat fryer cleaned and refilled with fresh oil (it's only a small one)
    - Under sink cupboard sort of sorted - I have so much cleaning stuff left over from doing the rental and I really need to get it down to just a few products - put a few in the cupboard upstairs and chucked a couple away - but still got loads - I better get scrubbing and use them up!
    - Managed to find some stocks of compost bags for the food waste - so don't need to buy any of those for a while.
    - Sorted Mum's House Insurance Credit Agreement out.
    - Spreadsheets finally completed. Summary of what we have in what pot for DH.

Had a chat with daughter of my friend who died (for ease I am going to call her my Godmother as as far as I am concerned that's who she was). Arranged that we would go up just for the day, DH is going to drive as he is concerned about me driving when I'm upset (bless him). I am relieved that all that is sorted now and I know what I'm doing.

The big news is that we have ordered our kitchen units and worktops. (This was Sunday's job). Not as much as I thought (they found alot of discounts for us) - and I have got what I wanted - I didn't have to scrimp!

So now the plan is to start the kitchen when we get back from holiday - so in the meantime:

    - Price from kitchen fitter (friend of ours and DH will help)
    - Survey from electrician (also a friend of ours)
    - Gas fitting shouldn't be a problem (friend of DH came on Saturday and said it would be fine)
    - Approx price for slimline dishwasher - done
    - Price for cooker (direct from manufacturer as my compnay makes parts from them) - with a discount (hopefully)
    - Price for sink, taps and cupboard handles - looked at but not finalised
    - Tiles and paint to be decided.

Second bit of big news was that DHs gas fitter friend came on Saturday - balanced the rads and managed to set up the timer for us.

OMG!!! what a difference in temperature - a good 3-4 degrees higher even with the boiler on lowish. He fixed the rad in the attic room too and it's now like a sauna instead of an icebox and the cold air can no longer plummet downstairs! Once the roof is done should be toasty in the winter.

We do need about 4 new rads - but it's not such as big problem as we thought it would be. Aim is to get these done by October.

    Busy week ahead:

    - Heading to town at lunchtime to put my boots in for healing and have a nice walk.
    - 2 x front door keys need cutting (friend will need to feed cat when we are at the funeral next week)
    - Charity meeting tonight
    - Out with work tomorrow (film and pizza)
    - Allotment survey Wednesday
    - Massage & facial on way home on Thursday (paid for with voucher DH gave me for my birthday)
    - Sunday - Toy Fair

Phew...sure I've missed something...full steam ahead it seems - wouldn't be me if it wasn't!!!

Claim has come in for Dentist treatment, so £25 to Kitchen Fund and £24.80 to my EF.

Charity meeting was hard - personnel problems!

Tonight I am out straight from work with the boss and a couple of others - going to the cinema and then pizza afterwards.

DH is fending for himself tonight.

Was going to get a sandwich from down the town, but I have decided to have a cup-a-soup out of my drawer instead - especially as we are having pizza later and there are cakes on the table for my colleagues birthday! Bang goes being good today...oh well there is always tomorrow.

    Hope everyone is well.

Just decided to post my menu plan for the rest of the week...maybe it will help me to stick to it (although we do have a list stuck to the freezer).
