So, things have progressed a bit over the weekend.
We need so much more for the kitchen and that might mean we didn't have enough for the roof (which is absolutely essential for next winter).
I have some money put by for something (can't really say here what it was for) - but DH and I have decided that we are not going to use it for the purpose it was set aside and now we are going to use some of it for the kitchen and the roof. I think it's the right decision, though I feel a little sad about it.
Anyway, we still need to save some between now and the end of September, but nowhere near as much as we would have done.
The kitchen designer came and DH wasn't too impressed (though she does have to go away and design something). But when she rings me today, I have to tell her that we have decided to change the layout completely as the cooker I want will not fir in the space I had allocated - it's more to do with the doors opening than the actual width of the cooker.
More pottering done round the garden - planted some strawberries in baskets, re-potted some fuchias and pruned back dead wood on my potted roses (which will soon be in the ground) and my herbs (moroccan mint, peppermint and sorrel). All this while DH was shifting rocks!!!
Nice to get out in the fresh air and there was more than a distinct smell of spring in the air. Cat thought so too - garden isn't secure yet so she hasn't been out much (maybe half a dozen times since we moved) and she seemed most disgruntled that we were outside and she wasn't!
 Evening List for this week:
 - Monday: Charity Meeting
 - Tuesday: Yoga DVD
 - Wednesday: Pop down allotment with DH and see how moveable the greenhouse is going to be (weather dependant)
 - Thursday: Hour of clearing paperwork up in the study
 - Friday: Yoga Class
 - Stick to mealplan!!!
On tonight's menu is Turkey Stroganoff (last but one portion of Christmas Turkey!) - for which I will do the prep before going to my meeting (as I have done all my paperwork for that already!! yippee!).
Hope everyone has a good week.

Sad that you've had to re-allocate your money
Gardens still give joy! And the whole re-allocation thing sounds like you'll be less stressed about the structure - believe me, from the Storm Katie problems I've had, you'll be happy you did that! Roof always trumps 2023: the year I get to buy a car0 2023: the year I get to buy a car0

It is sad as it was a personal thing for DH and I - but it's a joint decision and we will stick by it. One door closes and another one opens (as they say). Need to keep positive and enjoy my new kitchen and be safe in the knowledge that the house will be warm, weather-proof and cheaper to heat next winter.
Glad I've got this new garden to make my own - be lovely when we can start planting things - also can't wait to get my greenhouse down to the house from the allotment!

It's nice at this time of the year when you can begin to look 'outwards' to the garden

It is KC - but have to look forward not back. Acceptance of a situation can be hard.
Thanks for your words of support.

Certainly is Goldie. Looking forward to making it nice an colourful, rather than just green grass and gravel.
It was my money we had to make the decision on - but it was for a joint purpose. Trying to look forward now.
 Thanks for your support.

The friend with cancer I visited in January has passed away. I am absolutely heart broken as she was more than a friend, she was also a Mum to me. I am so glad I went when I did. My resolution paid off and I am grateful for that.
Awaiting news of arrangements so I can put my April in order.
On my last visit, she gave me a fair few packets of seeds which I intend to sow in the garden this year - forget-me-nots, cornflowers, various poppies, larkspur.
I have a few bushes to plant and my roses, but as they really won't be that well established this year, I intend to scatter the seeds round to make a meadow type display - a riot of colours and heights that she would have loved and I will be able to remember her fondly every time I look out onto the garden.

:grouphug: I'm so sorry to hear this, MCI - you've had your own heartbreak going on.
I'm very glad you got to see your friend, especially when she was so dear to you. By arrangements do you mean the funeral, are you going to be able to go to that?
Sowing her seeds in her honour sounds lovely - I'm not sure what larkspur looks like, though the name itself is so beautiful, but the other three - forget me not, cornflowers and poppies - are some of my favourites. The poppies will certainly provide colour this year. Primroses? Chives that you let flower this year?
But the main thing is all that colour that your friend gave you, that you'll love to look at.

 Thanks KC
Oh yes, by hook or by crook I will be there - I need to be there for her husband and her son and daughter who are also incredibly dear to me.
Brought some chives with me from the old house - they do always seem to flower on me! Beautiful colour. I might divide and have some flower every year!
