Happy New Year MCI - congrats on your continuing success at the toy fairs.
Less good to hear about the electrics and gas, but at least DH has friends who can assist. We spent in the region of £450 to have our fuse board replaced by a competent person.0 -
Thanks Ed
I've been told that a new fuse board is about £53 (Cost) - then they've got to do the earth bonding and look at the wall light. It will all depend on how much DHs friends' want for doing the job - I wouldn't have thought it will be too much - hoping it will be about £200ish altogether (or less) - but we will see - mates rates can be very handy at times!
In other news:
MILs tax return done in record time (45mins) - she owed £2.60 due to incompetent Pension companies that can't work out tax!! I know that it's not alot of money - but as they are supposed to be deducting at source, you would think that they would get it right!!! Anyhow - done now and out of the way for now.
Looking after ourselves:
LO Brie with B/Beans & Jacket Potato for lunch today - needed it - was starving after the morning I've had! DH has got a salmon sandwich...
Roast dinner tonight - Duck Crown I bought cheap at Herr A before Christmas - going to do baked apples with it along with the usual roast meal trimmings.
Might be treating DH to a meal out tomorrow with some of my bonus money - depends how long the gas fitter is down at the rental.
Beauty treats booked in for Saturday afternoon - Mini Facial and Back Massage - £10 off each treatment (voucher from the Salon for Christmas and their January offer) - so just £30 for the two. I think after the week this is turning into these treats will be well deserved - also trying to make sure that I have something out of my bonus rather than it all going on the house or into savings.
I do intend to pay off our furniture with some bonus money though - on the list for the weekend jobs!
Off to do a bit of Feb meal planning - still plenty of meat in the freezer, will only need to buy a couple of bits protein-wise.
Happy Hump Day everyone.

Rental News:
Gas Fitter for second opinion at the Rental tonight - fingers crossed.
Think the electrics might be cheaper than anticipated - buying breakfast stuff tonight to make bacon & egg sandwiches as part payment :rotfl:
Looking after ourselves...
We have two options tonight - cheap and cheerful if DH is back late or posh nosh if he's back early! Can't wait - I am definitely not cooking tonight!
Brie (last of it) and apple chutney toastie on wholemeal bread today. DH has got Hoisin Chicken & Lettuce Sandwiches.
Really looking forward to yoga tomorrow - it's been a stressful week so far, with no real respite at work. Glad to have a few minutes on here before getting back to it!
Pay day today!!!!! Money shuffling Saturday.

:j:j:jWe have a Gas Certificate:j:j:j
The second opinion was golden! Yes there is a slight drop in pressure but well within legal limits - he said that that it would be practically impossible to find the leak as it's not that strong and you can't smell gas! As far as the boiler being under-gassed! - yes it is very slightly - but the rads are warm and the water is hot! The pipework will only need changing if we change the boiler - and even then not as much as previously thought. The extension pipe on the gas cooker point doesn't need to be done as there isn't an appliance in situ! If it does need doing if the tenant wants a gas cooker in then it will cost about £30 - it's only a short piece of pipe with a couple of solder joints. We might not even have to pay for this it may be the tenants responsibility.
The only thing we do have to do is get the earth bonding done on the gas meter (which is on the list for the electricians tomorrow).
So hopefully, both the Gas and Electric Certs will be handed in on Monday.
Then I suppose as soon as we sign the lease we will be good to go!

Great news - what a relief!:TEarly retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
Certainly is Goldie! Had visions of they having to rip half the pipework and all the flooring up - which apart from the mess would have cost a fortune that we don't have. - Really pleased.
Feeling a little stressed today (even after yoga) as I have even more to do today than planned - so paperwork is being relegated to tomorrow and I need to get all my running around done before my massage at 2.45 - hopefully the massage will help me to de stress after the last few days.
Still sticking to the menu plan (especially as I've done Feb now).
Catch up soon.

Still got a few nightmares at the rental regarding the electrics - looking like another week till we will get it all sorted - fed up! But it is what it is so got to get on with it.
Magazines dropped off at library - had never been to this one - it's lovely! They were really pleased and also took Dad's name. I said I would let them know if I found any more (there were a few journals of the British Astronomical Association too that I threw in). The library are having a science fair next weekend which the society will be at. So nice to here about these groups - all is not lost!
Massage was great. Going to book myself another for the end of Feb - I think the combination of yoga and massage might really do some good. She said there was a lot of tension in my shoulders - it's so ingrained I don't feel it all the time - but I do today! My yoga instructor has given me a couple of exercises that might help too.
Got some jobs done - but still have some more to do today - but will do at my leisure rather than break neck speed like yesterday.
Made Cottage Pie last night. Plenty go leftovers and a little one made for mum (really need to push her to get her freezer sorted and then we can stock it up! )
Enjoying sitting in bed with a cuppa and the cat for a few minutes - waiting for DH to say he's going to do breakfast!
