PS. It was a while ago, but the recipe for egg fried rice sounded amazing, shall be trying that soon
It is amazing. I got so inspired by that recipe that it led to a £70 spend in the Chinese supermarket and a solid month of regular EFR, dim sum and miso soup for tea :rotfl:
Your plan for largely vegetarian lunches sounds good. When we lived in London I got somewhat obsessed with this Simple Dollar post on frozen and then reheated breakfast burritos. The recipe is crap, but the concept is sound.
I used to love my frozen black bean, brown rice, salsa and scrambled egg burritos. They were great value and even offset my spendy £2 cups of coffee from Pr3t
Sure something similar could be leveraged into a lunch option?0 -
Funnily enough, I think it's going to be egg fried rice for tea tonight! Using up some ham and a few other bits from the fridge.
Principle for the breakfast burrito sounds good. Might have to try it, but with a different filling perhaps. Thanks for the tip Ed.
Packing is at an exponential pace now - but still have to work right up till completion day, so restricted on time - going to be shattered. DH is working today and tomorrow and then he has the rest of the week off.

I last moved in 1989, but I still haven't forgotten what it was like during the week before we moved, with all the boxes everywhere, trying to get everything packed,
But I also seem to remember that we got sorted out really quickly once we moved here. I think you are so keen to get moved in, you keep going until all your possessions have found a place
Very exciting though - this time next week you'll be in your new home.
Hope it all goes well.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Thanks Goldie - I really hope that we will get things sorted fairly quickly once we are in - the worst of it is that I still have to be at work and DH has time off - I've only got Monday off!
Difficult to comprehend that we will have actually moved by this time next week - incredible considering we were only casually looking at houses :rotfl:

Guess what?? More packing last night!
Our table and chairs also got taken down DHs council garage. They are shot really - was a bit tearful as they were my Grandad's, but DH says he will find a use for at least some of the wood - so they will be recycled and be part of our new home in some format.
Quick trip up the allotment needed tonight to water the greenhouse - hoping to get back to it properly in a couple of weeks.
Turkey mince on the menu tonight - going to make some yuk sung type stuff as I have some iceberg lettuce to use up, plus I have some veggie spring rolls which I can add to the meal.
Really struggling to make up meals for Thursday and Friday - might have to buy something!!! Will assess the situation tomorrow.
Majority kitchen pack up on the agenda for tonight's packing.

Phew! I am shattered! It's been a long few days.
I am officially a MFW again :rotfl:
So, we are in - still a few more bits to come from the loft at the old house and stuff that's screwed to the walls!
No OPs yet, we are going to wait until the old house is rented out (theoretically, let's see how it goes). Any spare money will be going in the house fund for the things that need doing at the new house and the kitchen fund.
The roof needs a bit of work which needs to be done sooner rather than later, but DH is going to be on the case with that.
New Washer Dryer and Freezer delivered and are now in situ. Need a new fridge too as ours didn't fit in the gap and looking closer at it, it was going rusty at the bottom anyway - so we are going to get a cheapy 500 wide fridge to tide us over until we re-vamp the kitchen. (Still got the fridge freezer too which is now in the kitchen instead of the spare room as it was at the old house).
Took me 12 hours to sort most of my kitchen stuff - I really do have so much of it, but everything has a home now apart from a few things that need to go in the sideboard that we haven't bought yetNice to have everything in one room instead of dotted round the house.
Anyway, money news:
£1.44 £co
£10.32 Council Tax Refund
£90 bank account sweep (really can't have spent much last month)
So, £101.76 transferred to the House Fund.
I am allocating £2.5k for new house things and anything over that is the start of the kitchen fund.
Hope to catch up with you all soon.
