Celery can quite often be found in Chinese food.
So is MSG but I don't see you adding that :D.

Celery should only be allowed in stock. Or casserole bases etc. Definitely not when it can be tasted (except when accompanied by a nice dip, preferably of the cheesy variety :T).
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I just spent £37 MCI - what do you have to say for yourself?! :rotfl:
  • That's the trouble with those places (I go to one in Birmingham) - you may spend alot - but you really get value for money. I go about 2-3 times a year (unless there is something I specifically need for catering).

Hangs head in shame with a slight smile. Lol.

  • Taken a leaf out of Goldiegirl's book and have started to de-clutter a few things.

It will only be a few things every week, but it will all make a difference to the amount of storage etc.. we have. As DH is making slow in-roads into the loft, I thought I would make an effort with the rest of the house.

Last week I decluttered the drawers of the coffee table.

This week I de-cluttered 3 bottles of irish cream - they were set solid! And 1 out of 6 drawers in our dining room unit (got rid of Christmas receipts from 2009 that were lurking in there!)

This will be a slow on-going process.

  • Grocery budget spent £101 - hoping for an underspend of at least £35 this month - will see how we get on.

Could very well have one or two veggie days next week as DH is away for a couple of nights..so will need to alter the meal plan accordingly - should have enough stuff in the house to accommodate this without buying extra.

Off to !kea later - not necessarily to buy anything - looking for ideas for our house and for Mum's - hoping to pick up a catalogue so Mum can see what I'm on about.

Beef & Mushroom Stir Fry with Oyster Sauce tonight using a lonely piece of steak I found at the bottom of the freezer.

Hope everyone had good weekends and that this week is kind to you.

Still going with my philosophy of 'keep smiling' :D :rotfl:

More fried rice over here, you've got me started!

Tonight was onion, ginger, celery (it works really well, honest!), sweetcorn, beef, dried chillies and spring onions. Added five spice to the eggs, rice vinegar, soy sauce and toasted sesame oil to the mix. Served with some really good vegetarian chilli oil :)
  • Very nice! Still can't be with you on the celery - really can't stand the stuff! But really glad you are enjoying the recipe - I find it so versatile.

  • Busy busy today!

Got inspired at !kea. Saw the ideal cheap bookshelves for my Mum's library we are going to organise for her (she has hundreds of bookd cluttering the place up!)

Also, after a bit of mulling overnight I have realised that we have almost enough storage in the house - we just need to empty it of unwanted things and replace that with the things we want to keep that are cluttering up the place.

I mentioned a new bathroom cabinet - but I think with a bit of sorting and jigging around we should be able to fit more towels in the existing one. This is the same in the bedroom - got some MOPPE boxes that I've had for years, full of make-up that I have hardly touched for years - I think you can see where I'm going with this...these two things are on my declutter list.

Lemon & Smoked Salmon Spaghetti tonight - looking forward to that.

  • Busy again, so early update while no one is looking.

In fact, not much to report.

Charity Trustee Report to complete for AGM tomorrow.

Turkey Dinner tonight with a joint cut from our Christmas Turkey and some posh stuffing!

It's all about the Christmas leftovers etc... at the moment.

    Happy Hump Day everyone.

  • One more day and it's Friday.

More freezer fodder tonight - HM cottage pie.

Will be eating late as it's the charity's AGM tonight - be nice to just zap it in the microwave and serve with some brocolli, carrots and gravy. Delish.
