  • Charity meeting was ok - we have alot to do this year.

Still eating to meal plan - tonight's offering is Turkey Chilli with brown rice and HM Guacamole etc...

Was going to go shopping on the way home, but I've realised I haven't looked at the mealplan for next week, so have no idea what I need to get - so going to leave it and go tomorrow.

No more money news - hope everyone's week is going well.

    Friday tomorrow.

  • Happy Friday!!!!

I am tired of having no money news! Boo...

Think I'll count my penguin pot tonight and see how much we have.

Self Assessment stuff came yesterday - got everything together, just got to activate online and get it done. Will be doing the MILs shortly too (as long as she has found all the paperwork!)

Hard morning at mum's planned for tomorrow - we will be getting the carpet up etc... in the front room ready for painting.

Quick Spanish Style Fish Stew tonight using up ingredients in the fridge, freezer and store cupboard - haven't got a recipe as such - will just make it up as I go along.

Nice easy tea of burgers, ciabatta rolls and wedges planned for tomorrow night (again using up stuff we have) - need something simple after the day I think we are going to have.

  • Spanish style fish stew was great - must write that one down before I forget it!

Tired after a hard day at Mum's yesterday, but it's all ready for the painters now - you probably think I'm mad having painters in, but it's too much for me to do on my own (and DH doesn't do painting!) Plus I don't have the time and it so desperately needs doing - money well spent in my book.

Then I went home and did my tax return! (they owe me £1, but I'm sure that's only because they round the figures down!) So glad that's done and out the way - only got MILs to do now.

I've got £1.63 coming through from £co - whoop! and I still have a penguin to count.

£15 nectar points and £2.08 cash spent on food on Friday - then realised I had forgotten bread - so that was another £1.49 at Mr W - whoops - going to catch up on my spending diary later - fortunately Mum has paid me for some of the things I got her. I don't mind buying her the odd thing, but the last couple of weeks, it's really mounted up.

Will be mainly resting today, but will see if I can get MILs tax return done tonight or tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

I think you are completely sensible. Ceilings. Landings. Ugh.
  • Me too! We got painters in to do the difficult stuff (exterior windows and hall/landing) and then got them to do some easier stuff (a bedroom and the downstairs loo) at the same time - money well spent in my mind as it freed up our time to do other stuff :T
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
    Mortgage-free: January 2021
Retired: June 2022 (186 months early!)
  • Thanks for the support on the decorating front both.

In my defence to anyone who thinks it's money down the drain - they are 10ft ceilings!

Spending diary done: £9.16 left in the food budget but I have got £5 of nectar points left.

Bag of plaster, bargain dress and VERY reduced tinsel bought today (spent 35p on tinsel and got 7 x 2m lengths)

Penguin counted: £20 to be paid in next week.

Quite a productive weekend all in all.

    That's very em...... eclectic :rotfl:.

Quite right too on the decorating :T.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Staying in the office this lunchtime - but will have to go down the town tomorrow.

I am finding the spending diary very informative and hope that I will be able to be a little more in control of my finances in the future.

I know that I do alright - but I need to do better if we are reach our goal of £30k as soon as possible. Done some number crunching and with all the regular deposits we do we will be £2k short at the end of the year. Now, I cannot depend on the success of meeting the goal by the end of 2015 by hoping that we will have a dividend this year; so need to pull the stops out to make sure it's met.

Still eating to meal plan - Sausage Pasta tonight using posh cocktail sausages bought at Christmas that didn't end up on the Christmas Dinner - I think they have apple and rosemary in them.

Need to get some bread later - must resist scotch eggs.
