Happy New Year MCI, your leftovers sound better than a lot of my pre-planned meals :rotfl:
And who knows - mebbe you'll win a million on the PB0 -
Thanks Ed - the lamb was in the freezer and going to do a big tray of roast LO veggies - 1 lonely sweet potato, 1 bendy parsnip, a few carrots, some onion and a tiny bit of broccoli (that will be boiled not roast).
Keeping my fingers crossed for the PB - did win £25 last month, so you never know.
I just count it as my emergency, emergency fund that I conveniently forget about.

40k x 1.35% less 20% tax = £432.
40k x 1.35% less 40% tax = £324.
From the MSE Calculator:
The Key ResultWith £40,000 in Premium Bonds, if you have average luck1
you would expect to win roughly £450 over 1 year
So actually, unless you're a zero rate tax payer you're likely to be as well off if not better with PB's. And there's obviously a chance you could be MUCH better off.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

I see what you did there GG, but no MFWer is getting a crappy 1.35% on their savings0

Ok, ok...I know PB's are not the best way forward. They are just a small part of my financial portfolio (if you can call it that!).
I like them and as they say, you have to be 'in it to win it'...
Going to do a shop for the food bank later - I've given myself a budget of £30 and I have worked out what I am going to get - surprisingly quite a bit...just want to do my bit every now and then - DH is going to give me something towards it...I am also going to give them the tins that have been hanging around in the cupboard forever...the things I bought and KNOW I'm not going to use at some point.
Other than that - just a small shop for the coming week.
Lamb Dinner was lush last night - think I ate a bit too much Lamb and there seemed to be tonnes of veggies...
Sea Bass Fillets (which I had forgotten we had in the freezer), rice, veg and some sort of sauce that I haven't worked out yet for tonight's offering in the Itt household.

I love sea bass, sound like you'll be eating well tonightEarly retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
Sea bass was lovely.
Tonight we are going out for our meal using the £56 from our coin savings 2014! Nearly forgot all about it - including to book it - but rang up last night and got a table.
It's at fairly local bistro - went there last year for DHs birthday and it was lovely. Looking forward to a nice chill out after the first week back at work.
Food bank and small grocery shop done. Birthday cards bought, written and will be posted at lunchtime. (Can't believe how many birthdays there are in January!)
Dropping food bank shop off this afternoon after work - my boot is practically full. then back home to tidy up the kitchen and then out for the evening - yay!
Hope that everyone has a great weekend.

Afternoon all...
Put my spending diary on a spreadsheet this morning and I will keep transferring data as often as I can.
Have worked out what we spent of Christmas Food etc... and out of our own money (excluding coupons and money from joint account) we only spent £71.07 which I think is great!
We still have loads of food in the freezer, however, the grocery spends for this month (including what I did as part of the Christmas shop) isn't looking too good - I only have £35 left in the budget for January - it's very doubtful that I will keep to this - BUT I think February will be under due to all the meat/fish in the freezer already.
I am not going to worry about it too much, but I was thinking that we still have £33 in nectar points that I could spend in the new Sainsbugs that has opened down the road - just to get some essentials next week.
Rang up N-wide this morning to retrieve my customer number - it went missing off my computer and after turning the house upside down looking for the paperwork, it was much easier to ring them (apparently they had updated their web-site and has accidently wiped all the saved numbers). Anyhoo, managed to log on and do my figures and shuffle some money.
Feeling quite positive getting things organised.
Right, off to sort the washing out (oh how exciting my life is...)
Hope everyone has a great Saturday.

Menu plan made till the end of the month (and a little beyond).
Went to Sainsbugs today, but because its a new store they needed me to swipe my nectar card and it takes 48 hours to register before I can spend any points - so £9.85 more spent on food! (although £3 was for different cat food as she has been off her food and coaxed her to eat another brand - so had to go and buy more...)
More spending - thermal door curtain and pole for my mum (couldn't get another one for us as they didn;t have the colour we wanted and there was only one pole) - good thing was that the curtain was 20% off when I got to the check out - must look online for the one we want.
Off to MILs for dinner tonight - but before then I must bake some blueberry muffins.

First Charity Meeting of the year tonight....prepared and ready to go (why do I get the feeling I might be the only one who has done some groundwork for this meeting!)
No money news!
Turkey Stroganoff for tea (first meal off the other half of the turkey crown we had before Christmas - so glad I chopped it up until useable portions and froze it) - but thank God for the MILs freezer - back in ours now as it's a little emptier.
Happy Monday - here's hoping all your weeks go nice and smoothly.
