Feeling poorly again - awake most of the night.

Still at work but plan to leave early if I can.

No allotment last night, but will have to go and water later and chuck some slug pellets round the kale - don't think I will be doing any digging though - see how I feel tomorrow.

Could do with popping out at lunch, but don't think I will. My boots can wait till Monday to be collected and I can pay the 50ps in then.

Hope everyone's Friday is going better than mine...

    How's the bread making going?

We got our bread maker at the start of the year, and I love it!

I mainly do white bread or 50% white / 50% wholemeal loaves. I've also done a cinnamon fruit loaf. Also I do dough for rolls, French sticks and pizza.

As we eat a lot of bread, I think it has saved quite a bit of money.

We've experimented with slicing, and the thing that works best for us is our old electric knife.

PS, hope, you get a better nights sleep

    Hi Goldie

The bread making is going alright.

How do you cope with the holes in the bread left by the paddles - is there a different way to cut it to minimise waste?

Also, do you add vit C to yours?

DH isn't keen on 50/50, likes one thing or the other. Tried a bread mix at the weekend, it was lovely bread, just a very strange shape on top.

Have ordered a box to keep the bread in to help freshness - will carry on till be get it right.

PS Still feeling up and dow, but did manage to get a bit more sleep.

Restful weekend it wasn't I'm afraid.

Glad you had the opportunity to skive...I do sometimes, depending on who is in the office and how much needs doing.

    And here we are...another Monday.

New charity driver starts tomorrow - fingers crossed he works out.

    Charity meeting later.

Got part worn tyre for Charity Van £22 - bargain! We don't do many miles so will be fine for ages. All other types are good - so hopefully no more tyre expense in the near future.

Still feeling unwell and still need more rest - won't get that tonight, but hoping that when I get back from the allotment tomorrow I can have a good sit down.

My friend has gone to rescue the contents of the greenhouse up the allotment (by watering as haven't been up all weekend) and to check my herb plants to make sure they haven't flown off in the wind (friend is golden - very grateful).

    Nothing to report MSE-wise.

Chicken Stirfry tonight - might get DH to do this...

Computer was really playing up yesterday...

£7.98 on repairs on 2 pairs of boots (good for another winter now).

Got to go down the post office and get a duplicate van tax disc. It's a nightmare - applied for the tax disc - didn't come, rang them up and told them - sent another one - that hasn't come - need to get duplicate today or can't drive the van. Not good when you've just had a driver start on the payroll!

Just another job that stresses me out and annoys the **ll out of me!

Received my refund of car insurance premium by cheque yesterday - so paying that and the 50ps into the bank today - glad the weather is sunny today (one saving grace at least).

Still not feeling quite right, but MUST go up the allotment tonight.

Need to get back to tracking my finances a bit better especially the old grocery shopping.

£22.85 spent on hairball treatment and special diet for cat's teeth (I eek it out mixed with regular biscuits her wet food and it usually lasts about 4 months - so not too bad). Cat is having alot of trouble with hairballs at the moment...

Another loaf made last night and made another mistake - as I use a measuring jug to measure all the ingredients on the scales to keep washing up down I measured out the first lot of flour (350g) and forgot to measure out the next 100g - went straight to the 50g of chickpea flour - realised I'd done this when we were halfway down to the MILs. So had to add remaining 100g when I got back - kneaded it in and put it back in the machine for the final rise. It didn't come out too bad, but really must concentrate on what I'm doing! (At least I remembered the salt this time...)

Been sticking to the menu plan this week:

    Monday - DH did stirfry
Tuesday - Salmon with creamy dill sauce (waiting for verdict from DH to see if he's ok after eating this dish)
Today - Roast chicken with herby roast veggies, potatoes and gravy

Hope everyone is having a happy hump day!

    Happy hump day MCI :)

I have found that bread makers are the one culinary area where you really need to follow the instructions - particularly re. adding yeast! :rotfl:

Do you use predominantly wet food, or a mix of wet and dry? I think when we get another cat, we'd opt for 75% dry, with maybe a small amount of wet food each day, with a weekly bit of fish or similar. Cat dental bills can be *horrific*

My cat has wet and dry food. 1/2 pouch in the morning and 1 pouch in the evening - biscuits on the side with a few tooth diet nuggets mixed in. She doesn't eat a great deal in comparison to other cats. She loves chicken though - very aware when we have chicken for tea and she is always there for some scraps! :rotfl:

Her teeth are fine; vet only expressed concern once and recommended the tooth diet. 1.5kg bag is £15 but it lasts ages as she only has a few a day. (bought off internet with cashback of course!)

Talking of the vet, I am sure she is due to go in the next couple of months! That will be fun - it really is a fight to get her in the basket these days - took both me and DH last time and she still had my arm off! :rotfl: (She's a tortoise shell and has quite a temper when the mood takes her).
