Trying my best to pull myself up by the boot straps.

I think its the combination of alot going on personally and work-wise - plus the run up to the first anniversary of Dad's death.

I am annoyed with myself, but can't seem to snap out of it - just going through the motions.

    I think I need a break...

We are planning to go up to the Lakes in May for our Wedding Anniversary (when I finally have some time off work); and DH has promised we can do something nice over Easter.

MSE-wise, I have the cheques for the expenses in my bag and I will be going to pay them in at lunchtime; then I can shuffle some money about in a few days. I also need to transfer all our joint and house savings into our new account.

After a really long time I have some £co money due and have just requested a payment of £3.67 (I think - £3ish anyway).

Have been fairly good when it comes to food shopping etc... and tonight's tea will be the good old comforting posh sausage and mash.

Going dairy free next week (or DH will be) to see if that helps with his stomach problems, so a mealplan is essential for next week.

Sorry to hear you are out of sorts. Xxx
  • Hi MCI, the first year is so difficult.

You have a merry band of MFW chums around you. A break sounds like a good idea and Easter is just around the corner which at least gives you a long weekend. Not an easy time for either of you.

    Best wishes Tilly x x

Hoping that I am starting to turn the corner - just so tired and no get up and go. DH made me take it easy last night by plonking me in front of the TV with a glass of wine while he did the washing up and made tea.

Thanks Froggy - my DH is golden...

    Feel a bit better today.

Went out for a meal last night and had a 12oz ribeye steak with all the trimmings and I really enjoyed it.

We chatted away about nothing in particular and I think it just did me good to focus on nothing except DH for a couple of hours - he said that it was the most I'd said all week!

Having some girlfriends round tonight (kicking DH out for a few hours - he'll go to our polish neighbour's house) and we intend to have a good laugh, a few drinks and some nibbles.

Cheques have cleared and will be organising money shuffles tomorrow as I have got to swap to our new joint account.

Happy Friday everyone...hope everyone has had a good week.

    Quick update:

Feel rubbish - depressed about having to take Dad's clothes to the hospice shop on Saturday. Became ill at the weekend and although I am at work, I feel carp!

    Anyhoo, that aside:

    - Had a great night with the girls
    - Charity stuff done on Saturday
    - Planted up some of my tomato plants and courgette plants - that had germinated
    - £403 added to House Fund, plus DHs regular £50 (£453 in all)
    - £3.87 also added from £co payment

Tonight I have to move some plants on the way home, they go home and cook a cake DHs nephew's 21st tomorrow night (agreed to do this before getting ill) - Darth Vader Chocolate Cake with Star Wars Cup Cakes - hopefully wont take too long.

    Then I can rest.

DH is off work this week, and he said he'd help me out.

Didn't have to do the cake yet as its his birthday tomorrow, not today! So had a rest; but in hindsight I should have potted some more tomato plants up as they are in danger of getting leggy!

Feeling a bit better today - not so achy. Still got sore throat and seem to have developed a cough. Managed to sleep last night, but still need more sleep!

The plan is to leave work bang on 5 (like last night) - get home for about 5.45ish; feed cat, get changed and get the DV cake sorted and in the oven. Then going to pot some tomato seedlings while its baking (takes 50 mins). Then I'll do the cupcakes and their toppers. Intend to ice either tomorrow morning or evening as soon as I get home.

Popped outside this morning and potted another 5 courgette seedlings. Needed to get them done before they get too leggy - waiting for more to germinate.

Going to make something with turkey steaks tonight (still got some in the freezer from the Christmas Joint!)

Looking forward to my lunch of greek salad today too...
