No Buying Toiletries in March Challenge

Well done nicci, that's amazing you haven't bought any toiletries in almost 10 yrs. I'm not surprised you're itching to choose your own. I haven't bought any conditioner since Jan last year and i'm sick to the back teeth of it already because it's mostly the same stuff i'm using all the time.0

Hello Nicci, what a fascinating story and thank you for sharing it.
It's funny how the toiletries thread didn't take off back in 2007, whereas it has now.
I suppose it's the zeitgeist - spirit of the times - even though this is the MSE forums, people are far more money conscious, post credit-crunch - and environmentally conscious too, less reluctant to bin stuff.
Kaz, what a total pain re the drains and I'm so sorry it's had such an impact on your precious time off.
Viv - I never would have guessed your stash was so large and it looks like you hadn't either!
Sawan.. Who would have known polish came in so many colours...?! Well, not me.
Two tiny UU's A hotel shampoo that I'm mildly amazed has escaped the cleaner and the cut open tube of hair conditioner from the Perfect 10 Medium Brown hair dye. This is a 55g tube and I think I got 7 or 8 uses out of it. I think Clairol do have something similar that you can buy.
WIBA? Well, I have a Foam Party hair dye to use next Saturday, but if anyone is thinking of buying Perfect 10, the conditioner is great. Do make sure to leave the colour on for longer than 10 minutes- don't believe the hype - and to have your hair clear of build up.
I have a couple more uses of a Superdrug leave - in -for - a - while henna conditioner, a little bit of tea-tree conditioner from Tesco, then it's Elvive for the rest of the year, apart from free samples/ stuff in with hair dyes.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Definitely worth keeping your appointments to have them done, once you reach a Certain Age.
Thats fab news - I second the keeping your appointments, I lost a close friend to breast cancer at 29, breaks my heart to see her children growing up without their mum
Asset - Congrats on the house purchase, you wont have any spare cash to buy toiletries now :rotfl::rotfl:
Hollyh - My ten year old has decided he is using wet wipes for his bum.... ran out of loo roll so he helped himself to Immy's wipes, said thats the way forward (no worries though, a recent B**ts glitch, so i've got thousands in the loft :rotfl::rotfl:)Actually, no I won't just remembered that DH fitted a water saver thingy to the shower head so it now doesn't even wet your hair.
Can you not remove it, use the shower, then put it back on?charlie792 wrote: »Think something really wierd has happened this week, after the misery of the begining my OH has encountered a string of incredibly good luck, firstly his work got printed in a magazine, then he got featured on a very well known website (in the industry at least) and today he just found out he won a design competion he entered last year, and on top of that found out yesterday some of his work might be published in a book...Its a strange world!

I think its funny that we are all toiletries and deals mad, so we stock up like crazy and then we get really frustrated trying to use things up!
When I think about how much I 'wanted' particular things at the time of buying them, it doesn't match how I feel about them now I am desperate to use them up and get on to the rest of my stash. I too really look forward to needing things again and being able to make (hopefully) more informed choices and only buying things when I genuinly need them.

I think you've really hit the nail on the head with that.
Quite a while ago I was glad of the fact that I had all the toiletries I did and would not have to buy any more, but now I just want to use them up. In mad moments I have even fantasised about pouring them down the sink
I think the key to stockpiling and taking advantage of offers is to not stash too much, else the result will either be wasting or disposing of the products (for the weaker-willed!) or seeing them as a chore to use rather than a pleasure and a 'luxury' to use.
And, after all, offers generally come around again quite soon!0 -
Bev i've just finished exactly the same order for Muslin cloths. I've been wanting some for a while and wouldn't pay full price.0

I bopught a BS shea shower gel yestedya 1/2 pirce to get the free LYB card, but noticed I've been charged for express delivery at £3.99  and its now showing as despatched. I wnat to cancel the order as I don't ned it that much and more importantly the postage was free so can't see why I've been charged for it. Truied to call their customer services but they are not open on a sunday. Do I refuse delivery? TIALife is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
