No Buying Toiletries in March Challenge

:DHi everyone
Spent two days catching up. So many newbies with so many wonderful stashes! Big hugs to everyone feeling low or going through a difficult time -keep posting this is the best thread on MSE!
It's certainly the friendliest :j
I have been sorting out my stash and sold a shower gel on ebay so pleased I've made a start. Got alot of help on this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2949734 about ebaying etc and once you get started it is great checking how many bids you have. That's so true!! And I'm finding I'm browsing much less on eBay now, so spending less :T The thrill of buying is being taken over (partially) by the thrill of selling!
celebrate - I was unsure about ebay at first but there is loads of help out there on how to get started setting up paypal and perfumes even opened ones sell really well. Look out for the next free listing weekend they have just had two - next one might be hopefully in the next month.
Hopefully! It usually works out about one a month - not sure why they decided to have 2 in Feb.
If you've got the time, with free 99p listings there's no need to wait for the next free listing day for lower value items, and its sometimes worth even listing that item you think no one could possibly want - you'd be surprised sometimes.
2 UU's - Decleor Arommesense Neroli 5ml -WIBA - yes but got two other serums to go. Also MOP C-system hair mask - WIBA - had this for years it was nice but need a change - will use up satchets of Philip Kingsley Elastisizer next.
Have noted a problem with using up so many facial satchets and samples etc is that your skin goes haywire. I have two big swollen zits on my cheek bone that no amount of concealer is covering up. Feel like a teenager in my mid thirties - (I'm sure there is a positive in there somewhere!)
Maybe it'd be better to use up samples occasionally while mainly using products that you know you're okay with. My skin felt tight and itchy after a couple of days when I tried the last Olay sample. Gave up and went back to my usual one on my face.
P.S. Is there a pamper party tonight?
Ooh yes - I'm waiting to find out tooXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0 -
OMG flirtini - you have made me smile! now go start using things up!
No UU for me yet, most of the stuff I am using at the minute are ercent starts so might be a while!
Theyre .... what????Did my nails and a face mask last night though so onwards and upwards!
BIG hugs to all that need them. This really is one of the best threads around. You guys are always here for anyone that needs and I thank you all for that from the bottom of my heart
Definately:D

I took photos last month or maybe January. Once I've finished catching up here, I might go and see if I can find the post and I'll put up a linky!
ETA: Linky.... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=40165028&postcount=955 Now bear in mind that I have been on this challenge since it began in Jan 2011. I haven't bought shampoo since August 2008 and I recently bought my fist conditioner since then too.
I had a carrier bag full of shower gels given to me by MiL in Aug 08 which were 10p. There's a reason for that! My bathroom and all my floors were clean for aaaaaaggggees!
DH never uses his little aftershaves so I use them as room fragrances on cotton wool balls. It uses them up!
Congratulations, comiserations, whoops, boos and happy birthdays available. Deal them out amongst yourselves please.
All of you on the naughty step, are you done yet? I wanna be able to get up to bed without breaking my neck in the morning!
I'm afraid I can't join tomorrow nights session 'cause I'm at w*rk again. I may catch up on Wednesday. Unless it's face mask 'cause I haven't got any. I did the full shave last night as I was starting to resemble a yeti! Toes to be done on Wednesday night before I start the ironing.

mmmmm, yummy! I tend not to be able to follow the story line due to perving though!
Errrrrm, what else?
Oh yes! Celebrate, I suspect Professor Plum in the kitchen with the rope. Am I right?
And FINALLY, because I'm feeling naughty....
Two elderly hippies are sitting in the sun smoking some we ed. One turns to the other and says
"Have you ever been picked up by the fuzz?"
The other looks into the sky, deep in thought and replies
"No. But I've been swung round by the t1ts!
Now read that at work without sniggering at your screens
That whole post made me laugh :rotfl:Thank you!Lynseydee - hope things get better for you soon, he sounds very immature.
Flirtini - wow, where do you put it all.
Celebrate - a GP, I had my suspicions but just because your a medical professional doesn't mean you have to be perfect.
Perfectly putAs requested
He is quite hot isn't he??So two days watching Glee and The Mentalist did distract me slightly. So glad I had recordings, couldn't see anything I wanted to watch on live tv that wasn't lovey or heartbreaky
LOVE that colour Sawan! Very unusual! Glee rocksI want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around0 -

I know it has to be done, but in a way it feels so final - I've lived here most of my life, and now I'm probably only going to ever come back a handful of times a year. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about moving and starting my new life in London (especially as a really exciting potential job has come up!), but I think it's just that feeling of a major part of my life being over.
Good luck! It's sad when you move on, but sounds like you're going to have an amazing time
Right, really must go and get ready to go out (am v lazy). Just gonna have a little look at the m&s sale first...I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around0 -

Hello ladies, I haven't quite caught up fully, but wanted to say count me in for the party
I'll have to get online tonight anyway, as I can only view some pics on my comp at work - about half don't show up, and most links aren't accessible - I want to see the foal! And the stashes
I also have a UU to report, woohoo!
Dove go fresh showel gel (mini) - was from an xmas gift set. Fine, but nothing special. Woouldn't go out of my way to find it.
I'll be moving on to a Body Shop Tea Tree body wash now.
Speaking of that, a few ins to report from the weekend
I popped into Body Shop on Saturday with a groupon voucher, and spent another £17 on top and got the following in total:- Carrot cream
- hemp hand cream
- body butter x 2 (Satsuma and grapefruit I think, on offer at 2 for £15)
- body butter small - coconut. (Free as I spent an extra £10 about the groupon voucher)
- vit c serum
- vit c microdermabrasion (free gift for spending more than £15 on skincare)
- tea tree body wash
Can I bring some of the dairy milk I also bought with me? :A I'll share :rotfl:0 -
ok where do i start??
vivh-thanks yes i know i do set high expectations for myself and when my patients see me out shopping  especially in the sales, i need one of those niqab (muslim women where them) to cover my face so i can push and shove with the rest of them:rotfl:
kaz2904-thanks so much for the photo, but is that it??????? what are you doing on this thread, your stash needs building up girl....oops didn't mean that, so watch this space for mine but might be into next months thread by the time i get everything out of the attic, the shed, under the bed..........oh and who's Professor Plum (sorry having a dumb day!)
bev97-i saw the free listing on ebay posted on the grabbit board, problem is although i have bought stuff from ebay i have never sold anything on there..not sure how it all works... just need to be bold and make the first step, but don't they charge alot if you list something at a higher price-i'm just worried if i post everything for 99p some things might actually sell for 99p! and i will lose money.
so just to make you people feel better i wanted to let you have a laugh at my mental state this morning. I rang up a couple of lloyds in sheffield last week to see if they had any fragrances in stock in the 3 for 1 promotion, i went to a couple as you know and bought loads of stuff on friday but didn't have time to do the other two. Now since then it has been nagging away at the back of my mind about these two that i didn't visit and i know they have the "f" word in stock. Today I had the full intention of going .......had my sat nav ready etc.......nipped to town first to do the usual-checking boots clearance shelf (had 3 pantene leave in conditioners there last week for 75p each and i only bought one-been kicking my self ever since) anyway nothing doing, so went to M&S sale resisted buying anything except couple of undies and socks and the Oh a couple of new shirts for the OH). All the way round town I was arguing with myself in my head" you are going to lloyds, no your not going to lloyds you total idiot...and so on) . It was hilarious.
Eventually fought with the desire/temptation to go but was a struggle. You all know I don't NEED any fragrances, why the heck is there this urge in me to waste 1/2 hr petrol and my valuable day off (house is a mess) to do this.
Anyway I have NOT gone and half of me is mad and the other half is pleased. Hopefully the mad half will shut up and calm down soon. Have had a lovely lunch and am now going to log off and sort some of the house and cooking out.
I know I'm bonkers, is there anyone else as crazy as me or do i need sectioning???!!:rotfl:
Oh fogot to say, pop into my local lloyds.......BIG OOPS thats about 20yards from where i live just before i got home (to console myself... SORRY ANOTHER BIG OOPS!)-not been there again since start of sale SA was a right stroppy so and so, they had 3 oil of olay in the promotion for 3.99, anyway i took them to the till, stood there arguing with myself in my head again (bought 3 on friday in the sheffield lloyds) and then walked back and put them back on the shelf. The SA must have thought i had totally lost the plot. Please don't report me to the GMC for temporary toiletries insanity . LOL!GRATITUDE WHEN GIVEN, PATIENCE WHEN DENIED
Please press the thanks button when someone has helped!0 -
Flirtinti, I am impressed - that is one hell of a stash!
I reckon that's about 3 years that you don't need to buy anything. At least!
I think that giving some away or Ebaying it would be a good idea. Saves wastage, space and earns you a bit of money.
Congratulations for counting it all and 'fessing up. Now get on with reducing it! :T
I know, it literally is enough to last me years... and yet I bet I'll be back on the naughty step before too long... At least I can feel less guilty about using up the nice stuff as per the PRCP - after all, I have so much more after! Lots of them I've not tried at all yet, so I'm hoping there might be some HG products amongst them - I struggle to find things that wow me.Flirtini - wow, where do you put it all..
It is crammed into my bathroom, all shelves and surfaces are pretty full, and I have a cupboard under the sink that is bursting at the seams with those stackable box/carton things. I have to say, it does make me feel a bit claustrophobic, I only have a small studio flat!OMG flirtini - you have made me smile! now go start using things up!
BIG hugs to all that need them. This really is one of the best threads around. You guys are always here for anyone that needs and I thank you all for that from the bottom of my heart
I have to say I'm slightly surprised by the reaction to my stash - having read some of yours I was impressed and thought that in comparison perhaps mine wasn't *quite* so bad... I'm starting to think I'm still slightly in denial, or possibly not seeing the wood for the trees (or bottles!) Or maybe the shock is still sinking in :rotfl:
PS - I have a confession - No, no ins yet! - I know I have at least another drawful of stuff :eek:at my parents that isn't on my list as I can't remember what's there. I'll make a note next time I'm back and add it on...
Hope you are all having a lovely sunny day and enjoy the pancakes later on!! Maybe my challenge for lent should be part of my giving up toiletries buying!

Hello
Glad I'm not the only one on here who loves Glee!
Just caught up - phew, some stuff going on here. With my rubbish track record in relationships I wouldn't dare give advice except put yourself (or the kids) first.
I found out some really dodgy stuff about my ex-boyfriend while we were still living together - he always wondered how I knew but he didn't realise that his yahoo chat left a trail on his computer - what a dunce. Now have a new Boyf of several years and we still happily don't live together. Can't put too much about him as he knows I write on this thread and maybe spying on me :rotfl::rotfl:
My Olay face wash from a Skinny voucher yeeeeears ago is finally cut open and one more go should do it.
Did I see something about a pyjama party - ooh, it's pancakes tonight though isn't it? Not sure what to put in mine?Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -

Brilliant, well done!! You have taken a first and very important step :T!
I have given some of my stash to my local charity for raffle prizes - if you aren't strapped for the cash maybe you can consider this?
I saw my local phlebotomist :rotfl: at Tescos one day and hid - I mean goodness, that woman knows me inside out, if you know what I mean
I decided I needed a new hobby to stop me going to the shops constantly- maybe you can consider this as an option too? I'm joining the excercise 3 times a week thread. It seems quite gentle.....got off the train one stop early - OK it's the DLR and the stops are practically next to each other, but as you have found out with your trip today, you gotta start somewhere!Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
