Oh! Forgot to say! Happy Belated Birthday hollylangman37! Hope you had a fab day!:bdaycake:

Perhaps birthday months could be 'free pass' months?:D:rotfl::whistle:

Belated birthday wishes from me too. What a fab idea having "free pass" month for birthday. Mind you mine has gone now.

I think the shock value is definitely working and I'm feeling slightly sick at the amount I have. I'm not sure if it's because I feel greedy at having so much, or how much I've spent if I added it all up, or just that it's taking up soooo much space in my box of a studio! Maybe a bit of all three and then some. My home internet is down at the moment so will finish off my list later and post it when I can. I think my next step is to have a good look through, and figure out what can be used at presents, what can perhaps be ebayed, and what could be donated to friends/give and makeup etc...

Congrats on your news. This part of your post reminded me of the programme Spendaholics. I often wonder what Benjamin Fry and the other presenter would make of all the money I spend on products. I do remember there was a time when MrM commented that I didn't make an effort and then whinged after that (once the obsession kicked in) that I was "becoming high maintenance!"

I am not really an ebay person and probably will never sell on ebay (house full of stuff i am always thinking of putting stuff on ebay but never do). Like the idea of some sort of garage or car boot sale, problem is every time i go to our local car boot always bump into loads of my patients who always stop me for medical advice......

oops :eek:just given my job away

Now you're there can I tell you about my knee. I fell on it a couple of weeks ago and it is still very sore ...... lol. Are you a Practice Nurse? I wouldn't bother with car boots if I were you. The buyers irritate me as they want you to give them the stuff. I remember having a bottle of OPI for sale for £1.00 and a woman wanted to haggle me further down because she couldn't tell how much was left in the bottle.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

That nail varnish i put on last night peeled off in the bath  so i'm going to be getting rid of that. I did a bit more of listing my stash last night and found a box of 30 tampons. I've had a mooncup for almost a year now so it shows how long they've been there. I'll give them to my stepdaughters along with the nail varnish.

Celebrate - well done!!!!! :T Keep this up and the stash will slowly but surely go down.

I'm finding that knowing how many i've got left home is a great incentive to leave those bargains behind that I would normally snap up. Whilst I still havent actually counted them all, I've tipped them all out of plastic bags and into containers so I can see them all :o and grouped a lot of them so I know how many of each thing there are.

Brilliant, well done!! You have taken a first and very important step :T!

I have given some of my stash to my local charity for raffle prizes - if you aren't strapped for the cash maybe you can consider this?

I saw my local phlebotomist :rotfl: at Tescos one day and hid - I mean goodness, that woman knows me inside out, if you know what I mean

I decided I needed a new hobby to stop me going to the shops constantly- maybe you can consider this as an option too? I'm joining the excercise 3 times a week thread. It seems quite gentle.....got off the train one stop early - OK it's the DLR and the stops are practically next to each other, but as you have found out with your trip today, you gotta start somewhere!

actually didn't think of it that way...that my patients would be freaked to see me not the other way round  usually if i see one you just hear them whispering to each other as if you can't hear, "thats my doctor" , WOW!!!

when i had my 3rd child i was in a side room on the maternity ward and the one of service assistants that hand out the lunch was a patient at my surgery. She and her friends came in to give me my lunch then promptly outside my room started to discuss in very loud voices (yes i could hear) "she's my doctor, she's very nice," then started discussing my partners "i don't like so and so... she's very bossy, and so and so he's lovely....." hilarious!!!:rotfl:

i did consider joining a gym but didn't because it would cut down on my shopping time on my free afternoons (oops sorry catch up with housework time) LOL!:rotfl:plus again didn't want to bump into any of my patients!

I will soon need therapy to STOP LOGGING ON TO THIS THREAD!!!
I know its a substitute hobby for shopping but not something i would recommend to my patients!!

PS VALM- sorry about your knee, could it be your age??? arthiritis kicking in???

@celebrate Do you go shopping every day? You mentioned living near the shops. if you are city based it's almost impossible to avoid shopping

my local lloyds is in a tiny rural shopping precinct only about 10 shops hardly ever go there.

i never used to go to town every day just on my one day off but i do have 2-3 afternoons a week where i finish early and as i work nr the town centre so its easy to pop in after work on my way home, generally i pop into asda on my way home too.

Since becoming a bit of a fan of the grabbit board it has become a bit of a compulsion to grab those grabbits if you know what i mean, i am VERY selective though, really only go for the boots/superdrug/lloyds/tesco 1p thread, duvets etc/argos (although all my argos things went back was v disappointed with them, should have seen the SA's face-you want to RETURN ALL OF THEM ??? I calmy said yes, the towels sheets and duvets were awful quality)

Some of the grabbits are retailers i have never heard of or never shop at (eg asos, hobbs, body shop, clinique, gap, i do live a very sheltered life-you would be surpirsed! )However hving said that I had never heard of lloyds having a sale before MSE and never heard of sanctuary/S&G, oh and I never bought more than one fragrance per year for myself !!!!:rotfl:

That's the one beauty of not working anywhere near home and enduring that god awful commute. You don't ever bump into anyone you know from there!! And you can plan your pampering for the night when you get stuck in tunnels and the like :(...

Now, since you would be getting in your car anyway to drive to the shops, how about you get in your car to somewhere that you don't have to worry about bumping into anyone you 'know' and finding a nice beauty (safe) spot for a walk. Take some bread for the ducks! Or get on a DVD indoors and clear a space in the lounge.... you just need to stop thinkig about shopping...(as do I....)

This thread is a bit addictive! My boyf asked if I was gettin 'undertime' this month for the amount of time I've been on it!! He was right though and I've had to ban myself from it in the evenings to pay the 'family' some attention! This is my lunch break anyway....;)

Goodness I've got a hilarious GP surgery story but it's probably not suitable for here.....I'll see if I can phrase it in such a way it may be in a future post...
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!
