Congrats on the new sofa Kaz!
I bet it's more comfy than the naughty step - where I'm going to be sitting!:D;)
I have to confess a massive and unnecessary IN.
I bought the Todays Special Value on QVC today. It's Mally make up - and I am a sucker for that.
I'm going to try and sell some of it on eBay to make it £££ neutral, but it's still an in.
And just to add insult to injury the kids are paying for another Mally Auto delivery kit that's already here, for Mother's Day, so that I don't have to send it back. (cos it's gorgeous!)
The good news is that Mally's not on QVC again for at least another six weeks so I can go back to being good again.
So Day 82. 3 Ins so far. Total spend remains to be seen. (I won't know until I've sold some of it on eBay)
Incorrigible.:o:o

I have couple of UUs and an IN to declare
UUs
Lush mask of magnaminty: WIBA? Yes, it is my HG but will not buy it just now as have bought a montagne jeunesse one to try. I am also waiting for some of lush pots to be empty so that I can exchange them for a fresh face mask. So it may be a while before I buy the mask of magnaminty mask again
Cotton balls: WIBA? Yes, I find them better value than the flat cotton round pads. I have one in stash at the moment so will buy them after some time
In
montagne jeunesse anti stress mud mask: I didn't have any in my stash and wanted to try this for a long time. I am thinking I will get 4 uses out of it so MSE but not sure if I like it. used it the first time tonight and my skin felt very dry afterwards0 -

If you don't find one in Tesco, I think I have an unused Body Shop kabuki lurking from when I bought mineral foundation so can look that out for you this week if you want?
Thanks, that's really sweet of you. Let me know if you find it and I'll PM you my address. xBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Am just catching up. I usually read this thread at lunch times at work but have been trying to finish my book the last couple of days. Am reading Under the Dome by Stephen King and have about 25pages to go out of 800+! Anyway hope the interview went well the vicster. No doubt I'll read further down and see your updated post!thevicster wrote: »Yay, Glee :jLoving the zombies!
I've only just got into this having missed the first Season. Have just ordered this from play.com though - it's reduced to £17.99. Will go over and confess to this on the I'm Not Buying Anymore DVDs Until I've Watched Everything I Own thread. lol. What is toner for anyway? I'm never sure. I thought it was to tighten everything up and clean away cleanser. The soap tightens everything for me and the water washes it away.
Getting excited about the thought of opening up a body butter once the nivea boys things are gone
Toner is meant to take off anything your cleanser missed and rebalance your skin's PH level. In all honesty I think it's a load of phooey but I still use it because I've been brainwashed by everyone in the cosmetics industry that I NEED it. Am scared my face will fall off if I don't use it!Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Ooooh, I have my eye on an Elemis cleanser and toner (once I've finished my current stash, of course!!):A - any recommendations/warnings gratefully received. I have fairly combination skin - I literally can get dry flakey patches with oil slicks on top on a bad day, on a good day I tend towards a bit oily as the day goes on... I think I'm massively dehydrated though (drinking lots of cola and very little water, another habit I need to kick!).
xx
Selfridges and John Lewis usually run a promotion where you pay £25.00 for the cleanser and toner and get a small Maximum Moisture day cream free. I have used the lavender toner and found that I had to use it sparingly or it dried my skin out.Another UU: Boots Extracts Cocoa Butter Body Butter.
WIBA? It was very rich, but a little flaky. I'm not sure if that's how it is meant to be, or just age.
How long had you had this in your stash? I bought a pack of 5 mini pots of these in the Boots Sale and have used one already - the mango one - it was very creamy so am wondering whether they don't "age" well. lolthevicster wrote: »:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Many apologies for keeping you all waiting!
Well, it was quite fun! The first half of the interview was the bog standard questioning, tell me something you're passionate about, what are yor strengths, how would you deal with a product launch blah, blah, blah! The second part was actually on the No7 counter - she wanted to see how I dealt with customers - I sold two things! :rotfl:a nail polish and a mascara :rotfl:Bless the customers, they were asking me about shades of eyeshadows and things! Hopefully I blagged that okay :rotfl:Currently the account is worth £800,000 which they want to boost to a million  There's a team of five people to control and basically it sounds like a very scary grown up person's job :rotfl:Am I grown up enough? Not sure! The training is good though, a five day jolly in Nottingham learning about skincare and applying make up and stuff, all expenses paid :rotfl:I'm not sure exactly what they are looking for, but I suspect they want someone from outside the industry who wants to do lots of promos, blowing up balloons and dressing up and stuff (I LOVE that kind of thing!). Anyway, not sure what to do - will just hang fire and see if I get the job (should hear early next week). At the very least it would be a £3,000 increase in wages a year, potentially more (will get an offer with job offer if I should get the job) which would be a mega boost to our earnings. A LOT of responsibility though
Sounds fab thevicster. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
My TBS order arrived yesterday. I was very good and only opened the body whip lotion to use after my shower last night. Goes very well with the L'Occitane verbena soap I'm using at the mo. Can't wait to finish this now so I can open the new Lemon and Thyme shower gel. The pot of body scrub doesn't look like it's going to last very long though.
Have finally got new Groupon code from asos.com and they've sold out of my Lemon Aid Grrrrr! Will have to keep an eye on this coming back in cos the vouchers only valid until 13 April. I did see an alternative on there by Dainty Doll (Nicola Roberts range) but not sure as the whole range is in the outlet sale and I've only read poor reviews about it all!Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Thread moving too fast for me to keep up with it.
Just wanted to say that I have still managed to use what I have, and not bought anything yet. Although my shampoo is starting to get a bit low, and it looks like my hair dye might be next as my roots are starting to show!! But we may last the month out, just.!
(I did sin and buy a makeup set in the charity shop for £4, but I gave that to my daughter, so that doesnt count does it?).When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I finally have a uu to report!!!!!!

Your post made me laugh! 6 weeks is not that long a stretch of time between Mally purchases you know! TBH that's why I've given up on watching QVC because it's the same brands being shown over and over - there doesn't seem to be anything new.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. 2 UU- Batiste Blush WIBA? I already have one in the stash but yes I will when thats done with
-Nina by Nina Ricci sample WIBA? No, a bit too fruity for me
Naturally Right handcream that I got in USA this time last year is spluttering a lot, so that won't be long.
IN- Had a miserable day yesterday, everything just p*ssed me off so I comfort shopped some Burberry perfume, and a load of samples (Agent Provocateur, Paris Hilton, Cindy Crawford, Azzaro, Liz Claibourne)0 -
A quick pop in and ask a completely OT question before I go back and read todays posts.
Anyone got an Ikea Ektorp sofa? Can you give me a review?
I've asked this over on in my home but had no replies yet here's the thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3127062
cheers gals
I've not got an Ektorp, but had a close look at it when buying furniture for my flat - I went for the Ikea Karlstad in the end, as I think it's slightly firmer, which I like, but the Ektorp was definitely a very close second. A friend bought the Ektorp sofa bed a week later, and another friend has the Ektorp in a corner config - I'm really impressed with both their sofas, so comfy, and the range of colours is fab - one friend has bright red, the other black, and they look so different, and work really well with very different rooms.
In terms of assembly, I just about managed to assemble mine myself (3 seater plus chaise to make it a corner sofa), but it was hard work and a lot of lifting.
I helped build the ektorp sofa bed, and that was definitely a 2 person job, but more complicated than a normal sofa would have been.
Overall I think the construction quaility is really good, I would easily expect them to last a long time, and I haven't had any issues at all with my cushions (albeit as mentioned above I think Karstad is slightly firmer).charlie792 wrote: »Yeah it seems the prices really vary due to colour, we could have got the white one especially as how low priced it was at the time but Im SO clumsy it would have ended up stained beyond belief in no time - decided on dark brown in the end a fair bit more expensive but worth it for something I knew I wouldn't be able to ruin
All in all I think I probably only plump the back maybe once a month or so.....I really can't complain for the price and it was sooo much nicer than any of the others I saw in sofa shops - some were hideous!
Only thing I can think of, is that you might want some cushions for the corners - just because I like to lean in them lol but other than that personally I love IKEA stuff, everything we bought for the flat is from there
On another note I shall not be buying ANYTHING non-essential for the rest of this month and throughout April...realised my bank account is in a very sorry state!
Also I dont suppose anyone has any advice about my hair? I actually seem to moult (sp?) like a dog - no joke my hair gets EVERYWHERE - the amount I seem to loose anyone would think Id have bald patches (I dont) but Im sure its not natural to loose so much hair? Its not long either, shoulder length and in fairly good condition but Ive always lost a lot of hair even since I was little....its becomming a never ending job hoovering up tonnes of hair from the carpet..
I went for a dark grey cover for mine, for easy maintenance tooIkea is great, I've also got the vast majority of my furniture from there recently, but I had none before, and an empty flat, so it really was the easiest thing to do! It does look like I live in an ikea catalogue though
Totally agree on extra corner cushions etc for the sofa -
they're not absolutely essential, but do help for a little extra comfort, and I like being able to contrast the colours against the sofa - it can look quite funkyThere's an Ektorp separate cushion which is soooo comfy - the lumbar cushion, I have one and it's amazing! Really nice behind your back.
No advice about hair, except to say I also seem to moult quite a bit (at least there arre always hairs everywhere!) and I've always been amazed I don't have bald patches, but I do have a lot or thick hair, and I've never found anything to stop it, so now I just ignore it, and hoover lots
Did I mention that my brother (in the Army) is going to be a daddy again? :T Well now so is my step-brother :T That will make 14 nieces/nephews - lord only knows how we're gonna afford it  Thank heavens for post xmas sales :rotfl:
*snipped*
I know it was days ago but all the talk of eyeliners reminded me of a little tip - if you keep your eyeliner in the fridge it's easier to sharpen and goes on smoother - same with lip liners and nail polishes
Sorry for all the snipping!
Congrats on the new impending neice or nephew - and it's a good thing you're an accomplished bargain hunter :rotfl:
Great tip about eyeliners too - will def try this with a few I have!0
