Charlie - I am seconding (or thirding?) the suggestions about volunteering a few hours a week in your choosen career area. There are a lot of volunteer positions avaialble at the mo in lots or areas. Not only will this boost your experience but provide some valuable networking opportunities to put you in touch with some useful people/organisations that will be able to help get you started in your field. I know it means having to hold off on some of your plans just now and financially may put an extra strain on things but it sometimes is who you know....IYKWIM.

Yeah I would voulenteer but at the moment there's nothing, at least not locally (criminology degree :o) and I dont drive which is a HUGE problem.

But honestly getting a full time job whether or not its in Tesco or anywhere else is my priority, I litterally have no money coming in after next month, can't claim JSA, can't get help from folks and OH's salary will only just cover the bills - absolute nightmare at the moment!

Good news is after realising how dire the future is looking I am not buying anymore toiletries lol :rotfl:

  • Another IN for me yesterday - Lush Angels On Bare Skin exfoliating cleanser - but I did need it as my current pot will probably run out in the next few days. Considering that's my first IN for March though and it took me 22 days to get to it I think that's pretty good!

I've only just got into this having missed the first Season. Have just ordered this from play.com though - it's reduced to £17.99. Will go over and confess to this on the I'm Not Buying Anymore DVDs Until I've Watched Everything I Own thread. lol.

Ooh! *has PlayTrade money and never actually saw a lot of the first season so may treat herself this weekend after pay day*

I have a UU to report Wilkos Simply Blue shower gel i don't know what it's like as a shower gel but it made a good bubble bath once it was diluted a bit.

I would have used up my S&G Righteous butter and S&G Handfood by now but i didn't have a bath last night due to Ds2 throwing up everywhere:eek: and i didn't have time this morning. Hopefully they will both be gone tonight.
  • Hi everyone. Am loving this challenge and dutifully working through my stash. Currently working through Clarins beauty flash balm as hand cream as it smells a bit funny. What a waste of money. I love it too, so not sure why I didn't use it.

Don't know if I should tell you girls this but have you seen the Tesco double the difference thread on the grabbit board? Managed to get some L'oreal wipes for 6p and they do some great deals on Nivea and Olay but it's always changing.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Hi everyone

Vicster -Pleased your interview went well and I really hope you get the job it sounds fab!

Well not many UU's only sample sizes a Decleor Experience De L’Age Rich Cream 15ml used it on my neck and decollete. I have gone off decleor as it just too expensive and doesn't fair better than cheaper brands but have a fair bit from QVC TSV's to use up.

Several L'occitane IN's as it is my birthday today. So perfume, mini's of exfoliating shower and body lotion in Plum blossom, a small soap and hand cream and a butter balm in vineyard rose. All lovely and also not really adding a great deal to my stash.

Spent my BS birthday gift yesterday and got the foot scrub and a sample of the foot rescue cream for £1.30:T. Like this Clintons offer may have to go and investigate.

Charlie792 your situation sounds just like mine although fourteen years ago!
I got very little careers advice at Uni -I felt just abandoned when I graduated and very ill-equipped. I ended up being self employed (not that successfully) until I had my kids seven years later! I am not self-employed anymore and gave up work to raise the kids - but right now I would give anything to work and have sought professional advice but the advice is poor (unless you have to re-do maths and english exams or you fit nice and neatly into one of their boxes). I will probably look into voluntary work which is fine by me but DH is not keen at all. But I have become so de-skilled over the years and have felt really low at times even taking a confidence course last year which frankly I could have run the course better myself as my background is in that area. But anyway, if I had my time again I would do things so differently! Career wise I have so many regrets......anyway musn't get depressed it is my birthday after all!
Charlie, I really hope you find something soon grouphug.gif

thevicster glad to hear the interview went well got my fingers crossed for you :)

Happy birthday bev97:beer: I hope you're having an absolutely lovely day :j

charlie got my fingers crossed for you too that something turns up soon. I know money's obviously tight at the moment, but how about you ask for driving lessons as an early present from someone, then might be easier if you do find a job that's a distance away?

I've been a bit quiet as work has been manic, then non-stop even when home. At least it keeps my mind occupied :p

Was meant to be having a hot stone massage tomorrow which I was excited about, but then found out it was by a man, which I personally wasn't very comfortable with - so now delayed by two weeks. Ah well, still going to the vitality show tomorrow - yay :j

Gave my dad Boots Extracts cocoa butter bb to use on his hands, but weirdly it's made his skin a lot drier :( It was from last years sale, but was unopened in loft til I gave it to him. Told him to give it to me to see how I get on with it and I'll give him another.

Second the best wishes to Victster -
Bev- would something like that be of interest to you? Or how about Avon lady - just things to build up your confidence? My mum was yee olde Avon lady and did tupperware parties too. She was a single parent working part-time aswell as these things.

Have you thought about doing a vocational course - not sure if you saw my earlier post about my 40 something bestie going back through college and now has a great career (and 2 great kids raised.)

My careers advice tuppence to those on here looking for work - the best thing you can do is to get your foot in the door of a good company - dont worry about what the actual job is, and do temping there if you need to.
It's getting in there to see what the other (internal) vacanices are, networking. There is some staggering statistic I can't quote about the tiny amount of jobs that actually make it to being advertised!! I've got all sorts of qualification but the one thing that always keeps me in work (well I'm hoping it still will) is some poxy flipping typing course I once did for free (when on the dole!) which means I can do 50wpm. Doesn't matter what the job is for, this gets me past the agency bimbos! (hope there aren't any on here to be offended!)

Well, park all your worries for today and enjoy your birthday! And don't forget to tell us of any INS!

I am sooo glad the 3 for 2 B**ts event has finished and I didn't realise it so didn't have a last chance to rush out and buy stuff :T. Word is some boring ;) sunglasses voucher may be next, so no temptation there- my last pair came from a petrol garage :rotfl:
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!

argh, just lost my post. A synopsis as it was obviously too boring for MSE to publish lol
UU my tub of acquious cream - WBA but not much choice as only thing i can wash my hands with.
GA Small bottle of Sanctury Foaming Bath soak - i don't have baths so silly to keep it really. Gone to a good home.

Was tidying up my mediocre make-up collection it literally fits into one small jewelry box container (i could take photo's as proof lol) and i found 3 small Art Deco eye shadow 'pots'. I know i bought them for my wedding makeup from a salon and never used them, has anyone heard of the range and is anyone interested in having them as i know i'll never use them
