No Buying Toiletries in March Challenge

I had fun and games in the bath last night. I went to get out to get a flannel and to put my book down but there was so much stuff in the bath it was slippery. I slipped and went flying, stubbed my toes on the taps and loads of water came out of the bath all over the walls, floor, my dressing gown and in the bin.
The S&G face peel stung like hell at first so did the eye cream but they were both ok after a bit. My feet are slightly softer after the heel genius but it's going to take a lot to get them silky soft i think.
Hope you didn't badly hurt yourself hollyh, I have bathmats in the bath for the kids but have slipped in there before and banged my head.
Welcome back rosemary54, glad you had a good time.
Well done mineallmine, very impressed with your self control.
Don't think this thread is going to do much for cowshed sales, I've never bought this as the packaging and names just don't seem to go with the price tag. When I first saw them I though they were a fun, cheapy range and was shocked at the prices. The devil makes works for idle hands0 -
Nearly forgot to mention, I printed out a 1/3 off deoderant voucher from the ACM in Feb and it said it was valid until 22 march. Tried to use it yesterday and it wouldn't go through, the SA said it is because they are only valid on the day they are printed and that the date on the front is misleading and that I should ring customer services and complain. I did just that this morning and they said it should have gone through and which store was this, told them and she is going to get in touch with the manager. Feel awful now as the SA was trying to help and now might get in trouble. Anyway I got 500 points loaded onto my AC for the inconvenience, so am very pleased:DThe devil makes works for idle hands0

Our first 'graduate' of the thread! :T We need to celebrate this! _party_ I think we should start a list of 'graduates' on the first post of the thread, along with their graduation date and perhaps we could also put the number of items they have used up, if they know and want to advertise the fact?

OW! Hope you'e okay! I did that on holiday in a shower - didn't realise it had just been cleaned and slipped on the way out...I had MASSIVE buises for days! I don't think people believed that I'd slipped :rotfl:Hope you didn't badly hurt yourself hollyh, I have bathmats in the bath for the kids but have slipped in there before and banged my head.

It is horrendously expensive, I was shocked too! Quite liked the smell of the shower gel freebie I got last year, but would never pay those prices! Original Source is just as good, if not better, and cheaper!

I'm really glad you weren't badly hurt Holly! I narrowly avoided serious injury - or worse- when I slipped when showering (over-bath shower) some years ago. I went down very fast and struck the side of my face and temple on the end of the bath. I had a very badly bruised face for a while. I also went straight out and bought a non-slip bath mat.
I'd had one when the kids were small but dispensed with it.
These days I use two see-through square plastic mats, they are nicely cushioned, very safe and mould resistant too.
People are killed when they fall in baths and showers, please, please everyone do use a securely attached safety mat.

I'm so excited, I have to tell you all!
I rang the water board at 8.15 to report my drain blockage. They said they'd have someone out within 4 hours. So off I went to work for my fire lecture (which isn't until tomorrow, I'm such a wally!) I got back at 10 past 9. The man hole cover in my front garden was up and leaning against the wall so I peered in it and it's empty, YAY! So I thought that they must have been while I was on my way to/ from work. I went upstairs to empty the bath and check it was draining ok (it was) so I got on with putting on the washing and getting the kitchen up together.
Then thedoorbell rings and it's the water man. I was very surprised and said "I thought you'd already been, the drains clear and the cover's up"
Clearly they hadn't already been so it must just have been that the brick acid had time to eat it's way through whatever was there! He said that if they'd had to clear it, there would have been a charge. He couldn't answer why I was pulling all the stuff out that I was which is really annoying because it just means it'll happen again.
Anyway, here's to a better week with not so much going wrong

Hi Ladies,
I'm so glad I keep up with the thread with my mobile, but find replying difficult. So I think it's going to be a couple of posts to respond to everything I wanted to and couldn't over the weekendHi everybody
1IN to report-Bodyshop sweet lemon scrub £8. I love this and couldn't resist it.
I had a lovely pamper day yesterday as I've finally recovered from a very horrid chest infection.mcculloch29 wrote: »Hello Nicci, what a fascinating story and thank you for sharing it.
It's funny how the toiletries thread didn't take off back in 2007, whereas it has now.
I suppose it's the zeitgeist - spirit of the times - even though this is the MSE forums, people are far more money conscious, post credit-crunch - and environmentally conscious too, less reluctant to bin stuff.
Sawan.. Who would have known polish came in so many colours...?! Well, not me.
I didn't know it came in so many colours eitherAnd believe it or not, none are dupliactes and each shade is different

When I think about how much I 'wanted' particular things at the time of buying them, it doesn't match how I feel about them now I am desperate to use them up and get on to the rest of my stash. I too really look forward to needing things again and being able to make (hopefully) more informed choices and only buying things when I genuinly need them.Had a little count up of items yesterday and tried to sort some better storage, anyway the number of items I currently have is as follows:
Body lotions/butters x 42
Body scrubs x 20
Shower Gels x 38
Hand creams x 7
Shampoo x 11
Conditioner x 15
Bubble Bath x 10
Face srubs x 12
Face masks x 17 (3 sachets rest full size)
Cleansers/toners/hot cloth cleansers/facial wipes x 33
Facial Washes x 8
Facial moisturisers/serums x 34 (two samples others 30ml/50ml)
Eye creams x 8 (3 minis, others 15ml)
Eye make up remover x 5
Perfume x 12
Deoderant/Body Sprays x 23
OMG:eek:, How did this happen.minerva_windsong wrote: »That's an epic nail polish list sawan! And I thought mine was big...thevicster wrote: »Fab nail polish collection Sawan! Where do you buy your nail art gems from? I really want to have a go!

The BS ones are generously sized, hope they work as £7 a pair is pricey. Tried some of the hemp hand protector whilst I was there, feels lovely and smells of patchouli imo, very nice but £10:eek:. I think it is safe to say I have a toiletry problem! The totals are going the right way though, but it's very slow going so far! The totals do include mini sizes so some of them aren't quite so bad as they look!
Oh, and I took a picture of all my eyeshadows and palettes in case anyone has ever wondered what 100 eyeshadows look like! I know I should be ashamed but they looked so pretty!!
I'll try to get it on here if I can manage the technology.
I think I should go and use some products now :rotfl:mad_scientist wrote: »It's taken me 3 months to pluck up the courage to post the stash list!!

It has been a good day for stash lists, I loved sawans nail list, my collection is not nearly so exotic!
And vivh list looks nearly as extensive as mine, phew!
I'll have some company for the next decade! We are all as bad as each other, so no courage required, but I think I'm going to be here for about 2 or 3 years at least!

Thanks for that Sawan, I'll try that next time and you definitely don't need any more nail polish!
I have the Avon socks and found them okay, I'm size 4-5, and think you're right - they are a bit on the small side.I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around0 -
Two OUTs for me today - used up the Lush Christmas Eve BBS in my bath this morning. WBA as it did smell quite nice but can't until Christmas. I've now only got two more bath things and hopefully at least one of those should be gone by the end of the month!
Also found that the Arm and Hammer Advanced Whitening toothpaste had died this morning so that's been binned. WMBA as I felt that it did do what it said it would, although not quite to the extent that it would, but the taste was a bit weird and grainy to start with (though I suspect that's due to years of only using Colgate!). I started the Colgate as well and think this is the last time I'll buy toothpaste for a while as OH has a stash of Tesco Sensitive Whitening Toothpaste due a glitch a while back when it was coming up on the tills at 19p...
Incidentally, for stuff that people other than you use (such as toothpaste), do you count that in your stash as technically it isn't just yours? Our first 'graduate' of the thread! :T We need to celebrate this! _party_ I think we should start a list of 'graduates' on the first post of the thread, along with their graduation date and perhaps we could also put the number of items they have used up, if they know and want to advertise the fact?
