Council house rant....

  • council just given her a brand new 2 bed house all bills paid.....

The council don't pay your "bills" either. She may be entitled to housing benefit and council tax benefit.

How refreshingly honest of her to confess all this loud enough for you to hear.;)

Social Housing is allocated on the basis of need. It matters not if you are employed or married.

Clearly you (and I) know nothing of this "woman in Tesco" personal circumstances or her level of housing need.

That is the problem, no "moral" judgement at all. Many engineer the "need" for themselves either calculatingly or through phecklessness, leaving those that act responsibly out in the cold in most areas. Annoys me.

And most social housing providers have a policy designed to give penalties to those who worsten their own circumstances.

You either are classed as homeless, or you aren't. "Technically classed as homeless" is usually an expression used by those who aren't.

oh really..that was the councils definition. does officially homeless sound better then? I am well aware of what is classed as homeless and what isnt.

Then you will also be aware of the duty to house, reasonable preferance, one offer, provision of temp, etc etc etc, Yet still you bang on about your fantasy "immigrant".

we are homeless currently living in a homelessness unit and op your comments couldnt sound more ignorant if you tried.

we have both worked all our lives helping others with learning diffs, dementia etc when last year our world came crashing down, we have lost everything including our dignity at having to ask for help when previously we have never had to.
We have been homeless since a week before christmas and been on the housing register for 2 years, but we know that our time will come and we can start rebuilding our lives

See, not everyone is your 'single immigrant with 15 kids'

Did the council send you a decision on your homelessness application. In there it would have told you that they have accepted your homelessness application or you have been classed as intentionally homeless. I have never heard of a council classing someone as technically homeless!

WE have been on council house for 4 years....

But silly us... we got a job and got married before we decided we should have children... now we are in a privately rented 2 bed house witht he 5 of us...

Who are you to dictate what people do with their lives. We are living in the 21st century here not everyone wants to get married and then have kids. We live in a society that is generally quite acceptant of peoples choices. If you do not like that perhaps youd be better off housed in north korea...

Reminds me of a game myself and my friends used to play, when we saw someone was clearly eavesdropping on our conversation we would spout as many stereotypes as we could, was great fun watching them turn puce, knowing they'd be ranting to anyone who would listen as soon as they could.
