I would never I repeat NEVER EVER use this service! Took forever for the cheque to come through and I didn't get all the money I was promised! Some of my items got rejected instead of being returned to me were probably sold on for a profit whilst I got NOTHING!! MY ADVICE DONT NOT GO THERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Their customer service is terrible and really rude when I rang up to ask why I didn't get all my money they told me it wasn't their problem and was apparently in the terms and conditions. I future well sell it on ebay they only pay 25p anyway and won't pay for for all your items! It's disgusting! DO NOT USE! EVER!!!

I've just had a look at them, having been told about them by someone, with a view to selling a box set of DVDs. They offered half of the cheapest Buy It Now for the same thing on eBay.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

To be fair, they are pretty clear on the whole rejected items not being returned thing. You should always read the T&Cs.

My main issue with MusicMagpie is the prices, but then it's my own fault if I'm too lazy to sell on eBay / Amazon etc.

I think they could possibly expand on that statement a little.

They could, but that's not really the same issue - it's the "these items cannot be returned under any circumstances" line before it that's directly relevant.

You're right that it'd be nice to know what scheme they use though, if only to put minds at rest. Maybe they all go the same way as Robbie's!

Many thanks for this post, I was going to use musicmagpie to sell my dvd/cd collection, think I will ebay/gumtree it instead :)
  • DO NOT USE MUSIC MAGPIE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!! I cannot reiterate how awful they are. Having read bad reviews about them I still made the decision to send them 2 boxes of clothes (they offered me almost £70 for these), I read their terms and conditions and was fully aware of what they look for, thus I meticulously checked every item before sending it to ensure it was good quality etc. some items were even brand new. Firstly the courier didn't turn up on the designated day, then it seemed to take forever before the items actually reached them. After many weeks I logged into my account to see what was happening, only to find they had rejected over half of my items with very spurious reasons and they would be paying me £29. They stated the new items had marks on them and even said that one item wasn't in the box which I know definitely wasn't the case. Interestingly it was the mosts expensive items that they rejected. I emailed them and I messaged them on Facebook - they blocked me on their Facebook page as I put negative feedback on there and the only response I got from email was the normal "it's in our terms and conditions, no we can't send the items back to you" tough luck basically. I then sent a recorded delivery letter to the head of customer service with an email back from him last night, a very arrogant response I have to say, bascially telling me my items were obviously sub standard and that he trusted the judgement of his highly trained warehouse workers. And under no circumstances would they be returning my items to me or giving me any more money for them. I haven't finished with them yet..........

Having sent MM a shed load of dvds` & cd`s (6 orders) on the Saturday after Good Friday (3 orders) and 3 through the following week, have only now just started to receive cheques,3 out of 6 orders, still owe me over £109 ! A couple of orders outstanding are from the first ones we sent ! Acceptance seems to be an arbitrary decision,i had 3 cds rejected from 1 order, strangely enough they were the best prices initially offered,2 x £3 and 1 x £2.50. Reason ? "Non originals"........but were bought legit from Amazon. They cannot return any items blah blah blah.
They do promise quick cash......but sadly it takes a long time to filter through to you.
Better offer prices than some others though, even though 30p does crop up an awful lot. If you can`t be bothered with car boots and putting them up for sale yourself online,it`s an alternative,if not a particularly good one. Don`t bother if you want a quick turnaround.
