  • Hi Bonnington

Sounds like you've had a busy day :).

Good news that the debt is moving in the right direction and even if it does increase, at least for the time being you're paying less interest than you would otherwise have done...think that makes sense!

You're doing well sorting Christmas too. I've barely started as I'm still waiting for the kids to finalise what they want ;)

Excellent news on the birthday card :rotfl:

have you listed the freelander yet? I bet people are looking/ will be looking around soon for such cars...have you thought about listing on auto trader as well?

I'd love to have my own business at home. I don't do well with commuting & long hours. It completely drained me the last time i had to do that and i was only 24 :o nearly 10 yrs on now and i hope my next job is near to home :rotfl:or i think i'll be done in by mid week, every week!

Have you got all of your food for xmas or do you stil need to buy things like milk/bread/fresh stuff. I am only just getting my head around planning in advance and it's quite eye opening really :) and hopefully this month i can get my food in for less than £250 :T

Hope you are having a good day :D

  • You sound very busy Bonnington i hope you get a bit of 'you' time this weekend. I tried to apply to a shop & scan site but their quota for people like me were full :( ! Have you signed up for anything like this it could be some easy money/ vouchers i think if you fit what they are looking for?

I also told my hubby i didn't want anything for xmas as i bought that course for myself. However, if he hasn't at least wrapped one present for me to open as a surprise he won't be forgiven ;) lol...

I need to wait until december's pay to get our xmas shop in, also need to find a bit of extra money from somewhere first to allocate to that budget :p nothing can ever be easy huh!

Anyway hope you get all your jobs done and things ease up a bit at work next week :)

I am trying to find out from DW about presents. She says she does not want anything as has been buying small bits from ebay during the year. This is a good result. :D

    Result, as you say :)

OH and I are trying to decide whether to get each other a small present or not. My head says 'not', but my heart says 'go for it'!!

Of course, the children will come first, followed by making sure that we have a good spread on Christmas day. We usually have family around for dinner and at teatime usually a few more arrive, so need to be prepared.

  • Wow, that's a big post Bonnington ;):). I think these diaries are an excellent place to get things out of your head and down on 'paper'. It certainly helps me to keep things straight.

Nearly all of our D/Ds and SOs come out of the bank within the first couple of days of the month. I find it helps to know all the bills are paid, and then I can budget better for the rest of the month with the food, petrol etc

Your potato story made me laugh :D. It's the kind of thing I do, and mainly the reason why no one wants to eat my cooking. Works for me though ;).

    Keep up the good work!

I have had some 'me' time today. Caught up with Strictly and the Remembrance event from yesterday evening. :)
:)glad you got some time to yourself. It's so easy to forget about ourselves sometimes which in the long run just makes everything more stressful

Can I get the hall finished before Christmas? You said it was a small hall, i challenge you to get it done before xmas ;) you'll be glad when you have ....i hate walking into undecorated rooms, reminds me we have no money to do them up :rotfl:so if you have the materials i'd get straight onto it and cheer it up :T

I need to spend as little as possible this week. me too :( !! think it's the time of year! everyone i speak to is counting down to payday now!

I will have to fill up the Freelander, which we still need to sell, with petrol. Have you got this for sale yet? Would you lose a lot more if you were to sell to a private dealer? (sorry don't know too much about cars i let dh deal with ours :o)

Have received the insurance renewal from Co-op and they advised they cannot quote us. No idea why as we have made no claims on car insurance for over 20 years. :(???

Will use confused or similar comparison site. probably get a better deal anyway........don't forget cashback sites too :)

Managed to re-list items on ebay. I was supposed to be listing other items for sale but for some reason cannot motivate myself. Had the same thing last time free listing was on. snap, i've fallen out of love with ebay :(

I have closed a savings account with Santander which was an A&L account. No point in having it with just over £1 in. Received £1.46 inclusive of interest and account now closed. Awaiting closure of an ISA also with A&L. Only £1 in there and never used so no point in having it. :T

I still need to buy some new shoes. I prefer Clarks. I used to buy Tesco or Asda but these would only last about three months for about £25. My last Clarks pair were about £50 but have lasted two and a quarter years. So it is better to pay more so they will last longer. :T I agree, my son bought 'fashionable' shoes this year for school and they lasted 6 weeks  last year we bought start rite and they lasted until they were too small!!!

I am thinking about changing some of our D/D's so they come out of the account early in the month. Then most of what is left is ours. :)
I did this when i started on my dmp. Only talk talk and an axa account wouldn't change them  but at least i know by the 3rd everything that is left minus around £50 to pay for the other two is ours :)

Sometimes, like today I just run on for ages and sometimes I have nothing to say. :rotfl:same here, although more often than not i have too much to say :p

:T hope you get some of your jobs sorted today :)

  • :( to the dilemma with the gas. I think i would stick to the dd's for now as only a fiver more and then call them in a month or so and have them read the meter to see how much has been used. surely then they can lower the dd's?

Good news with the bread maker though! I wonder if it is a simple problem that could be fixed? i'd be tempted to sell as 'faulty' on ebay for parts. I know tonnes of friends that make a fortune out of selling broken stuff :)
