Hi Bonnington
Would your wife look for another job first or does she want to be a stay at home mum??Electric and Gas Predators 17/£700:j:j:j October make £10 a day challenge :j:j:j£155/£3100 -
Hi Bonnington,
I have just read your diary - it did take me a couple of sittings though!!
Everyone on here is starting to inspire me to start writing my own diary with the help of my DH. We both had our LBM earlier this month and DH is fully on board with the trying to pay off our debt!!
I wanted to comment on your diary as I read about your sleep problem. My dad has the same problem and used to snore loads and stop breathing in the night whilst asleep. He had an operation which didn't work and various other things were tried and now he has an oxygen machine with a mask which he breathes through whilst is asleep. It works really well and doesn't bother him at all now he is used to it. I hope you get all sorted soon!!
Keep up with the good work with paying off debts.
Forgot to add - I am hoping you will inspire my husband to finish plastering our bedroom and finish decorating it, then he has started the hallway by ripping off some of the wallpaper!! I don't think I have one room in my house which is finished!DD1 born May 2002, DD2 born Dec 2005, DS born Dec 2008. Baby due May 2010! TEAM PINK!!

Bonnington, I know you wanted to do this without telling DW, but do you think it might be time to get her on board?
I think with her help on cutting back on things you could get this debt paid of much quicker & then perhaps it would allow her to become a SAHM without placing extra financial burdens on you ?
Will you be entitled to extra benefits if she does give up? Would it be enough to cover your shortfall? I.e would you get more help with uni costs, and prescriptions/dental etc. You may even be entitled to tax credits until kids leave full time education?
I hope it's not causing you too much trouble thinking about it all xMORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. I totally agree with DFW, you would be so much better off bringing your wife on board.
The burden is too great for one person to bear. I'm so glad that Mr B and I are tackling this together, there is no way I could face it without him.:(Debt £26k 18/10/140 -
Well done on not using the credit card, I really don't think your wife can give up work at the moment and I think you need to get her on board so she understands the situation. It may help in the long run or at least tell her she can't unless you clear the boiler loan (she knows this exists??)Electric and Gas Predators 17/£700:j:j:j October make £10 a day challenge :j:j:j£155/£3100

Still need to update my signature.
As you will see in my signature I have made £68 in cash from surveys so far this year. I have just transferred £68 from my current account, which is in credit, to the target NW credit card. Also paid this month's payment and also the other day I paid £1 of 1p's in so transferred £1 to the card.
I feel on top of things at the moment money wise and as far as I am aware, although I haven't finished the figures, I think the spending has been cut down.
Will update signature when I have finished the figures.
Just looked at car insurance and last year's payments for both cars was about £74 per month. This year it is £27.82 per month. A massive saving.
:jyay great news about the spending!
And WOWser on the car insurance  I hope mine drops when it is due too!! I had to raid the savings i built up to pay for work on it  so be nice if it halvedMORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Hope the tiling is going well Bonnington, do you ever stop ?:)
Great news on the reduction of the car insurance. Mine just seems to be going up and up each year for no apparent reason. I will keep my fingers crossed that you get the £25 for the surveys ! Why dont I ever see surveys like that drop into my inbox ?!:D
