Can you get your account re-designated at a branch?Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and you’ll get rid of him every weekend.0

drlabman - yes you can.0

I went into a branch yesterday to get mine redesignated.
The chap who dealt with me couldn't find any forms for the new Isa 4.
He went off and tried to 'phone to find out, but couldn't get through.
Presumably everybody was 'phoning about it as it was Monday morning.
Left it with him and he said he would try to sort it and would get back to me. Haven't heard from him yet.
He said it was possible that it would just change automatically to the new rate, but I don't believe that.0 -
Just for info 0800 0326479 is a freephone number to get through to the savings team.
Took about 5 mins to re-designate to the new ISA once I had politely declined the sales stuff about their poxy current account. I suspect in 6 months time this will be uncompetitive with interest rates on the rise, but with instant access easy enough to switch somewhere else.0 -

Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place0 -

think you'll find what they'd do if rates rise is to launch a new account (reward 5?), with a better rate. Hoping that Reward 4 customers don't notice and leave the money in the lower paying account. Best just to check these boards now and again to keep up to date. Halifax won't tell you !0 -

If I redesignate to a Reward 4, will I lose the additional 0.2% from time of first opening of the Reward 3 until the redesignation date? I guess it depends on the definition of a product i.e. is this the same product or a new one? I would be grateful for clarification on this point.
Many thanks in advance.
I'm in the same boat, and I think we have lost the 0.2%. What I forgot to do is tell them to leave £1 in the Reward 3. If this was left till the year anniversary from account opening then you would have got the extra 0.2% for the time the large credit was in the Reward 3.
At least that is how I read the terms and conditions... if I am wrong I will be very pleased!
The interesting question is if a better account than Reward 4 comes along outside Halifax, can you transfer everything less £1 and keep both open to get your extra 0.2%? Since mine is previous years cash ISAa I guess so? (this years 5100 is in another account that does not accept transfers for its' high rate).0 -

Crikey, I never thought about that. Now I don't know whether to try to redesignate or wait for the anniversary. Has anyone actually received that extra 0.2% ? I've got a websaver extra which got its interest last week, but didn't get the 0.2%. When I rang and asked why, I was told it would be added to the account separately on March 1st as that was the date last year that I signed up for the 0.2% reward. Its the 1st March today, but no sign of it yet.
I am heartily, heartily sick of trying to fathom out all this guff with Halifax. RB10 where are you? You always seem to understand what's going on.0
