Then i won't get a job will I, if no one will employ me (if we assume your ridiculous attutide is the norm) so there will be no choice but to pay me benefits.I suggest you demand your right to sign on at your convenience, how rude of the JCP not to have asked in the first place. Looking forward to hearing you have been sanctioned.
Oh and you could avoid all this hassle by getting a job, quite why anyone would employ you though I'm not sure.
At least try and think what you say through.
Highlighting stuff in big red bold text just makes you seem ridiculous. Moaning that someone wants to sign on at a time that's convenient (ie when the buses run - how selfish of me) is being unreasonable is just a symptom of how far society has fallen and how downtrodden some people have become.
If you look forward to hearing people have had their benefits stopped then I must conclude there's something wrong with you.0 -
I'm sorry, but my reply had every bearing....you asked how could you be expected to get to a signing on at their convenience if it didn't tally with the bus times. I gave an option, cycling or walking......and you would be surprised by how many bikes come up on freecycle or are dirt cheap in the local papers, I know because I have had to get many bikes for the boys down the years and I certainly have to rely on those avenues to get one.
Bootsales are another avenue for cheap bikes, usually less than a tenner...ok, they may not look the business or have the latest brakes etc on them but they are good enough to be used.
I then took it a step further in asking how far away employment could be, think of it as planning the next step (I get OCD about next steps, I have to plan everything and work out the pitfalls...my own personality wrinkle I am afraid), to then ascertain whether cycling or indeed walking would be possible. If cycling, then the bike you would have obtained for the job centre would then serve a dual purpose of being your means to travel to employment...killing two birds with one stone as it were.
In other words, I was trying to be helpful and proactive. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Of course there is something wrong with me. I obviously have nothing better than to reply to a no hope benefit junkie. If I had my way (which I will not) I would stop any benefit designed to destroy the work ethic, you my dear would starve.ghost_whistler wrote: »Then i won't get a job will I, if no one will employ me (if we assume your ridiculous attutide is the norm) so there will be no choice but to pay me benefits.I'm sure you are correct

I think your statement PROVES how far society has fallen.
I was once on the dole.....for two weeks. My own pride forced me to get a job, any job. I was (am) a professionally qualified accountant and took a job as a car valeter @ £95 per week until something else came along.
Yet you come on here and have the audicity to call me names because you have the 'inconveneince' of travelling 8 miles to get money that you do absolutely nothing for.
THAT is the problem with today's society my friend, people wanting something for nothing and complaining when they have to do something to earn it.Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those affected (Benjamin Franklin) JFT96...YNWA0 -

At least we now know you're on a wind up and can stop bothering with you.0 -

JSA wasn't designed to destroy the work ethic, whatever that is. Just another phrase used to keep people doing the menial work that pays a pittance while the bosses profit. I believe that people should be helped to find suitable work, that is right for them - whatever that might be. I also believe people should be paid a decent wage as well as a decent rate of benefit. If you think starving people into submission will work then you would be mistaken.
You also seem to be operating under the assumption that I don't intend to attent signing times. Your hate filled rant is in reponse to my querying the rules about being given a time that fits in with the means for people to get to the signing point.
Quite why that's such a source of consternation is beyond me. Perhaps once you've calmed down you might explain, and also why you are so bitter that you'd be happy to see people starve.
Of course people won't starve, they will turn to crime and criminality (drugs etc) which will end up costing your taxpayers money even more. So well done.I think your statement PROVES how far society has fallen.

I didn't call you names because of the 'inconvenience' of anything. I called you names, as you put it, because you are taking out your prejduice and bitterness on me, for no reason. You still can't explain why it's wrong to expect a signing time that fits with the ONLY means to get to that time. This has nothign to do with taking jobs or not taking jobs and your childish assumption that peopel on benefits are all lazy just makes you look even more stupid.Oldernotwiser wrote: »At least we now know you're on a wind up and can stop bothering with you.
Then don't.0 -
When I used to sign on, I had to catch the morning bus in, sign on. and then wait all day and catch the evening bus back. It was miserable... but I did it.
Having to wait around for two hours is nothing.0 -
Hi Ghost Whistler. Don't take any notice of all of the negativity. A lot of people who will be reading this thread will be behind you, as you are making a lot of valid points, whist other posters just seem to want to get into an argument. I am sure that very few readers will suspect that you are a troll.
With regard to not answering all of the questions that have been put to you, some questions are not worth the bother of acknowledging.
The spirit of this forum does not seem to be what it once was, and I am probably just going to stop looking at this section of MSE soon. I don't know if I've just not been paying attention properly, but until this weekend, I had always believed that some of the more established posters had a pretty well balanced view about unemployment, and like me, were only anti-JSA for workshy scroungers. It's pretty clear to me now that a lot of them are anti-JSA full stop, and it is turning into a "community" that I don't really want to be a part of.0 -
I have paid tax every week (apart from two weeks on the dole) of my post school life, I am totally amazed that anyone like you could have their hand in my pocket for free cash and have the rediculous idea that once a fortnight the state should organize themselves around your personal transport issues.ghost_whistler wrote: »JSA wasn't designed to destroy the work ethic, whatever that is. .
What do you class as a decent rate of benefit ? Enought for you to have a car to get you to JCP ?
If people did get decent benefits why would they go to work ?
I didnt suggest starving people into submission I suggested that if you find it so onerous to attend JCP stop attending if it doesnt suit, and do without benefits. I can assure you that if I could walk 8 miles to JCP that is what I would do,leaving me more disposable income.0 -
Both my wife and I work. We both have cars to ensure we get there. This week mine had to go into a garage for 3 days for repairs.
To get to work at 6am, I had to walk 2 miles to a bus stop for a journey that took 30 mins. I then had to get a train for a 40 minute journey and walk another mile or so to get into work....i made it on time on all three days.
My son works 30 miles away from home. He starts work at 7.30am. He walks the same 2 miles to the bus stop for a 45 minute journey. then gets the train which takes 1 hour and then catches another bus. He gets up at 4am to make sure he is on time. In 6 months he has never been late.
And if you tell that to kids today, they simply won't believe you
