Hi hypno
I really like the idea of breaking the debt into £50 chunks and representing that with pennies.
I would do the same if it weren't for the fact that I'd be adding pennies to the debt pot at present!
Where did you change the money into pennies? Did you have to order them in advance?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Ok Quick update on the cat.
Spent weekend in Intensive care at the vets and then was sent home on Monday with antibiotocs, pain killers and special food. He didn't touch any food at all on Monday and when I took him back in for a check up on Tuesday morning the Vet decided to keep him have him back in Intensive care. They rang me an hour ago to say that he isn't responding to treatment and that they now think there's something more sinister going on (More sinister????) So the vet haas now advised me to go to a specialist in Maidstone who can do further research into what is causing the problem. The specialist vet rang me an hour ago to make an appointment to see him tomorrow morning, the initial meeting will be £175 plus vat and then we could be looking at a treatment of between £800 and £1500. He is insured, but they are asking for money up front.
I know this sounds awful, but I just can't afford to pay the money up front and there's still no guarantee they can help him. I just feel awful as I'm now thinking it would be better all round to just have him put to sleep now and not go through all this extra stuff. I do love him dearly, but I just can't stand this uncertainty and the upset. My son said goodbye to him last Saturday when I first took him into the vets and hasn't seen him since so part of me things it would be less upsetting to just cancel tomorrow's visit and call it a day. What would you do? Feel like I'm a cat murderer now!

Hiya,
So sorry to hear that. Its the worst think that could happen when you have no money!!!!! I porsonally could have my cat put to sleep I would try anything and would ask my parents to help out as long as they know they would get the money back from the insurance, but if there is no way you can get the money then you have to do what feels right to you. x x x
All my love x x x

Hi Everyone
Hope you are all doing well - the board is very quiet at the mo - had to go through 5 pages to find us.
As to the cat, well after a sleepless night I did a bit of re-jigging of my budget and "borrowed" enough from the mortgage to get us to the specialist. They did an ultra sound and the prognosis wasn't great, he had two tumours on his liver and pancreas and blood tests showed that both were failing. It wasn't really much of a decision after that and he fell asleep peacefully in my arms yesterday morning. Bit sad all round, but I'm glad we did at least try all the options.
On the DFW front not much to report. My DMP payments are all going through but still being ignored by AMEX and Nationwide. Ho Hum!

Well, I'm being a bit grumpy at the moment because of my unexpected car bill (£400) - I hadn't budgeted anything for it , so you can imagine £400 came as quite a shock. I've not put it on my credit card, but paid for it myself which I know is good but I will be overdrawn very soon. But as I told my husband, I've got to really tighten my belt this month.
My husband are I are going to pop out this afternoon (we have people coming around to view the house and don't want to be in) and he said he will be buy me a big money box which I've asked for, and I'm hoping that we will both regularly feed it and save lots of dosh.
Apart from our budgeted weekly shop yesterday, I didn't spend anything which I'm really pleased about. I came pretty close to nipping out for something, but was determined to fight temptation. Where my office is there are loads of little cafes and shops to waste money in!
It was also my mums birthday yesterday which is another way I usually spend a fortune, but my sister and I have gone halfs, which has worked out really well. We've bought her some lovely things together, but not broken the bank! We are having a family party at my parents on Sunday and I cannot wait (I get to play with my five month old niece all day!!!).
Apart from my earlier moan, I do feel quite positive, I can see my credit card balance going down and I'm a lot more open with my husband about my finances.
Anyway, that is it for now.
SM x
PS JoJo - so sorry to hear about your cat. We were so sad when our last cat died, he was such a member of the family and a real little mate to my dad. But at least you know you did everything you could.....sending you lots of love.0 -
JoJo - Hope your feeling ok. You did everything you could x x x x
Everything is going ok at the moment. I am very shocked that I haven't heard from anyone for over a week now. Maybe I have spoken too soon!!!!!
Speak soon

Hi all, I am grumpy today, so much so that everyone has found excuses to go out because I am not easy to be around!!!
All my friends are either skiing, have just come back from skiing, or are about to go skiing.
I LOVE SKIING BUT CANNOT AFFORD TO GO THIS YEAR!!!!!
Everyone keeps talking about it and I just want to scream at them to shut up!
Rant over, hope you are all ok!

Hi Everyone
We all seem to be pretty grumpy just now, I am too. I got bad feedback on my Amazon account, Im really fed up about it. Said item was not in condition stated but it was perfect. Im wondering if postie jumped up & down on it?!
Only just started with Amazon so only 4 sets of feedback, so 25% bad! Have been ebaying for years & am proud of 100% good feedback, so my pride is hurt!
Also am worried about where on earth my dmp payments are going. Egg wrote months ago to say they were passing debt to DCA, but DCA hasnt got in touch. Checked Egg statements on-line today & no sign of payments, but CCCS statements shows they have been made. Will have to get in touch on Monday, but it is really difficult to call from work.
Sorry to hear about your cat Jojo, hugs..Proud to be dealing with my debts :j

Hi Guys
Sorry had technical hitch for the last week which meant my lappie had to go to the sick Laptop hospital - but we're back together again now (can't believe how much I missed it!!)
Hope you are all over the grumps and feeling positive again - apparently February has more suicides than Christmas- I blame Valentines Day!
Everything quiet on the debt front for me - disturbingly so I suspect, but I'm ignoring it even though there's an uneasy feeling creeping up on me. Can't wait for Half Term next week Yipppeeeeee!!
