  • I just wanted to post a message for saying sorry for being rubbish. I posted on here ages ago saying I wanted to join and being part of the support club, but not really posted much (if anything) since.

Promise to keep a better eye on this thread and post now and again.

Good luck people - we can tackle this debt beast together!!!

  • Hey guys - How is everyone? - board's been rather quiet for a couple of days.

I've fallen off the wagon this weekend, first payday after Christmas and I spent a small fortune on kitting the kids out with clothes at Bluewater. Did get some bargains - but bought loads more than I intended. The only good thing was on the way in there was a huge queue of traffic so I decided to pull out of the lane and go the long way round - just as I pulled away, a large van went smack along side of me and then bumper shunted down the row hitting every car in the queue for about 100 mtrs, managed to be a 7 car pile up, 10 seconds earlier that would have been me too. So I suppose I could now be facing a huge car repair and weeks of misery and inconvenience. Thankfully no one was hurt. Needless to say my 10 year old son was deeply impresed at witnessing a car crash - Sick boy!

Got my fence fixed at last and then had to rush the cat to the vets on Saturday morning; he's been missing all week and came homeon Friday night looking skeletal and really in a bad way, thank heavens for insurance as we're already into hundreds and no end in sight. I know this sounds terrible but part of me was hoping the vet would say its probably best to have him put to sleep - instead they soldiered on and he's been in their Intensive care unit over the weekend. Diagnosis is a dodgy pancreas and Liver infection which should respond to drugs over a few days.

On the money front I've sent off the next letter to the Woolwich claiming back almost £1500 in bank charges, looking at the thread here I think I maybe in for a long and drawn out battle with them as most posts have sited them or Barclays as going all the way to the court date before capitualting. I was so thrilled with First Direct when they settled immediately but I know that that isn't the usual scenario. Ah well I'll get them in the end!

Hope you are all doing better with your DFW ways.

and SkintMonkey - lovely to have you back!

  • Hello everyone

Having a terrible time with Royal Bank again, claim to have not recieved ANYTHING from CCCS, keep getting letters about how I havnt contacted them etc ( only 8 times so far, how remiss of me!) Challenge going well, have sussed out matched betting and made £80 this week! Sorry to hear about your cat Jojo, I hope he recovers but similar pattern happened with my cat & she finally died after 9 months of tests/treatments and being up & down with her health :-(

Fell off wagon today too, got jeans and top in the sales! They did cost a fraction of the new price, that I used to pay without thinking, so not too bad!?!?

    Love to all, talk soon

  • Not a happy girl at the moment, got a £400 car bill to pay (holding off paying it until Wednesday when I'm paid). Really hacked off actually as I did my sums and everything and thought I'd be ok next month, but hadn't calculated anything for the car (because I'm such a dozey moo), and now it looks like I'm going to be over drawn next month. I could transfer some money over from my credit card (don't have any savings), but would rather not. Have an 'agreed' overdraft, so will be ok in theory, just utterly hacked off!

Plus, my mums birthday is on Friday and I've got to pay my sister for my share of the presents - aaarrrgghh! As soon as I think I'm sorted, it all goes pear shaped!!

  • Hiya everyone,

I have been really good but we need to go to the supermarket to do a shop and as I am at the moment I could eat a horse all the time!!!!!! its going to be a nightmare.

JoJo - Hope everything goes ok with the cat, it sounds like you have a farm at your house just like ours. The dog has to go into the vets for a few days tomorrow for his op so hopefully he will be back home end of week.

Skintmoney - You won't be jealous when I am getting fat!!!!! and then having to content with sleep less nights!!!! Not used to them as little girl was really good as she was born at 31 weeks she got into a routine in the NNU at the hospital so we only got up once a nite with her for her feed then back to sleep!!!!!

My husband and I've agreed to only start trying when we've moved house and settled in - but I am very broody at the moment. We've not got any children yet, so I'm probably seeing things through rose tinted specs! Hope you will be having an MSE/DFW baby!!!
  • HI there everyone, how are you all? I have been off work today with a sicky bug along with DD, we feel sick as dogs and cant keep off the loo! (nice!) I have been really good moneywise just lately, been resisting the urge to buy anything! DD has just joined Army Cadets though so will have to cough up £15 for joining fee (insurance etc...) but its mega cheap for her to go - only 50p a week for two nights - i cant believe it, its right up her street, they get so many fab opportunities, learn loads of good skills and get to go on camping weekends and week camps in summer which are really cheap too, finally she is getting off the xbox and comp and doing something healthy!!

Tiny tot - hows the pregnancy going?

JoJo hope your cat is getting better?
  • Hi

I'd like to join - need all the support I can get, trying to take things slowly (one of my problems to date is a tendancy to rush into things without thinking - waiting to see if this is part of a bigger problem

Might not be able to post much support for others at the mo - but hopefully will soon

Hi BH and welcome to our happy group :hello:

Today I got my bank charges back from Mint - the smallest of all my claims but important nonetheless! So happy with that one.

I also had a horrendous problem with Egg last year and their computer completely messing up my loan account causing default etc. I complained, and got a full apology, thorough investigation into their errors, compensation plus a halving of the interest for the remainder of the loan making it finish 7 months early! So after all the hassle I had last year with it, I finally feel as though I can lay it to rest.

So all in all a very positive start to the week. However, I have not heard further from Barclays re the claim I have with them so I see a bundle of court papers appearing in front of me shortly.........

I also have come up with an idea for a visual thingy for my debt. At the start of January, we owed £50000 (just over, but it will do). This is a huge amount but if I break it down, then 1000 lots of £50 seems doable on the basis that one client is £50, one shift of DH's overtime is £50 etc.

So, I have changed £10 into 1p pieces - 1000 of them each representing £50 each. Every time I pay off £50, I move 1p from the debt pot into the debt free pot!

Works for me, but you may just think I am slightly barking.....
