Happy New Year to all
JoJo - I am with Petplan (which I am now glad I took out) It nearly £30 a month but so far our dog is nearly 3 and has cost the insurance company £5,000.00!!!!!!!
What is the flylady thing!!!!! (Am I missing something) Not been able to get here for the last few days for some reason!!!
Thanks for all the hugs sent I am feeling loads better just reading all the messages on here. I am now in the mood to start getting as much money as possible any ideas out there please throw them at me so I can start saving and get debt free in record time.
Our friend have asked us to go on hols with them in July for 2 weeks but do we book now and pay loads or take the risk and wait till nearer the time and hopefully get it cheaper!!!!!Light bulb moment - 18th Sept 2006 DFW 88:ADD1 17/1/04 (9 weeks early):ADD2 1/9/07 (4 weeks early) :ADS 5/7/2011 (5 weeks early)

Hi Tracey
Flylady - is how to clean your house bit by bit - there's a thread on the old style board:-
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=338109
Not sure how much I'm going to be able to do whilst at work - but I pick little bits here and there - I like the 15 minute blast of activity followed by slobbing agan!
As to Holiday - Its lovely to have a deposit down and something to look forward to and you could pay a little every few weeks . But a last minute deal may be a cheaper option if you can be good and stash the money away ready and have a bit of flexibility in where you want to go or how you want to stay (eg: 4 star or above). I have done both over the last few years - always had 3 hols a year (can you guess why I'm in debt?!!!) One big one was always booked in Jan and then the other 2 were "let's jump on a plane somewhere at the weekend" type of impulse things - Can't say there's much in it as far as enjoyment goes - nice surprise when it's last minute - but did have a terrible experience in Morocco once doing a last min thing. But it is lovely to know it's definately happening and look forward to a big holiday knowing where you are going and what the hotel will be like etc when you book in advance. - Not much help am I!??
Do you have any idea where you want to go?

Hello! Hope everyone is well - you all certainly seem to be doing alright so far!
I have spent the whole of this week (inbetween clients) seemingly trying to sort out our finances. My head is buzzing so much now and it just seems that at every turn, I am thinking "debt, debt, debt" and i've just about had enough of it for now, but am scared of letting it go because I need to get this sorted.
So, this week, I have done more snowballs, and worked out that every £10 extra we throw at our debts each month, is another month sooner that we are debt free, so just got to find an extra £10 each month - simple!!!!!
I have also put in more bank charge claims - which would give us £4500 if successful, but I am anticipating a battle!
I have cancelled the gym membership (haven't had the energy to go since the summer anyway!), have changed phone and broadband over to a cheaper tarrif, have written a letter requesting that my daughter's school trip place to Normandy in March is cancelled, (that was tough but she is ok with it), put in a claim for a complicated insurance thing that went horribly wrong about a year ago (this alone is £530 so well worth doing), and have put some bits on ebay towards the olympic challenge.
I have also got my credit file up and see a couple of big anomolies - like a default issued in error by Egg which they have admitted was their mistake but didn't bother to amend the credit records!! So have been trying to sort that out.
I have been trying the flylady challenge - I have been having a cleaner which I cannot afford but if I don't have her coming here once a week, the family just don't bother. So the idea is that if I do flylady, I can cancel the cleaner without the family realising, they will keep the house tidy (ish) and I will save £100 a month! Nice idea, just hope it works to my favour.
I have 4 mystery shops lined up for Monday, so a few extra quid in the coffers.
I am going to do some brainstorming/mindmaps now to see what else I can do to make a difference. Then tonight I am off to a friend's for girly gossip and dinner so that, at least, will be a welcome respite from all of this.

Will a nice surprise this morning was a county court claim form from one of the creditors!!!! not looking forward to tell oh!!!!!
Spoke to Payplan and they just said fill in the bits we need to and sent it to them and they will deal with it. I was wishing that this would bne straight forward but nothing in our lives is ever straight forward!!!!!!!!
Two creditors have agreed the dmp and halifax has declined it!!!!! surprise surprise.
What is the Olympic challenge I don't get chance to look throught the whole site at mo as daughter is playing up and would go to bed on a nite!!!! later than me and OH we leave her talking to her self!!!!
Speak soon

Hi All
Sorry to hear about your CC claim Tracey - think it's only a matter of time before they are dropping through my letter box too.
I've only had 2 ccs agree payment schedule's so far - Haven't heard back from most of them but have had a "you must be joking" letter from Abbey who I gather are also known as MBNA, so can expect them to take me to court - apparently that's their way of helping!
Moneysaving is becoming a wee bit trying at the mo. My main telly is broken - been limping along for ages - so my son, who is permanently fixated on the Simpsons, is having to share my little portable - Even I, as a teacher, can only say "go and read a book" so many times!!! He's driving me nuts. Would love to get a new one and started looking at the flat screen LCD things - got a 17" one in Sainsburys for £120 in the sale -which I thought was a good deal. Now I have to decide if I'm going to spend out on, what is after all, a luxury item. Did get £20 Argos vouchers this morning in the post from one of the survey companies (which was a nice surprise as I didn't realise I'd done that many) So Argos cheapies might be an option.
Sadly, I spent £91 on groceries at Sainsburys this morning - had a £12 voucher which helped and I've re-stocked the freezer and bought 4 packs of nappies which will see us through a whole month so it's not quite the extravagance it sounds, but I really thought I'd be doing a little shop this week. Just can't ignore the £12 saving when you spend £60 it's too good a deal to pass up. I have one more voucher left for next week and then it's back to belt tightening and cheap old Morrisons where I won't be tempted to buy extras. If I stock up on cat food next week and baby milk, I can probably go without any further groceries for about 2 weeks, so I suppose it will be worth it in the end.
I've got the whole set of the West Wing on dvd which I'm going to Ebay tonight to see if I can get enough money to get a new TV that way it won't feel so bad if I have to get another one.
On the plus side I've been really cutting back on some areas - cleaning products are now at a minimum. I got my free sample of soapnuts through this morning, I shall give them a try in the next few washes and see if they are a viable alternativ to washing powder. I also planted my first lot of seeds last week and the first are emerging - some herbs for the kitchen window sill and a few early crop cherry tomatoes - I have a little mini greenhouse I salvaged from the neighbours skip (never thought I'd be going down skips - it will be bins next!!!) but I hoping to grow some potatoes in pots on the patio this year - so I've picked up a bag of early harvest seed pots and I'm going to give it a try.
My Mortgage fixed period is up next month - I haven't heard anything yet - but I'm so worried that my credit rating is now shot to pieces and I won't be able to get a better deal on it that my household bills could go up dramatically. Oh I do hope not!
Anyway - that's me for today off Mystery shopping now - that's another £20 in the telly fund.
Take care everyone

Oooh hell, not good on the CC side of things.
Oh well,if it comes to me it comes.im expecting one from RBS any day,and M and S finacial sent me a default notice, saying i have to pay back 530 pounds in arrears otherwise im in the doggy doo00000000...........Havent responded to either as CCCS is sending them payments anyways,so who knows.....If they take me to court, ill just go bankrupt, and then they can get sod all,as i own no house, car etc etc....
On the good side of things,as im really skint since the holiday,i have only spent 60 pence on milk since wednesday.0 -
