  • Lets stay together by Al green. Was fabulous. Also rehearsed a dance routine to it which had the crowd on their feet :D
  • We didn't dance, but we had Watercolour by Pendulum.

  • I know I posted earlier but those of you that are planning on a first dance and are worried the DJ won't have a copy make sure you take your own version on a CD!

We emailed a "playlist" to our DJ about 2 weeks in advance and asked him to stick to this as much as possible - we love our rock music so wanted this to feature heavily in our day.

We gave him the exact version of our first dance on CD that we wanted to dance to which was great.

Even now 3 and a half years later we still have people saying to us that our reception was the best they have ever been too - what a compliment! (we just had the reception in the local villiage hall so nothing massive or extravagant!) They said the music played a massive part to the fun aspect.

We had a barn dance in a marquee with a live band for our night time do. My new hubby sang 'wild rover' with the band - not very romantic but it makes me smile when I think about it.
  • We had two, Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce and Nothing Else Matter by Metallica.

We started our dancing with a traditional grand march followed by a waltz. Then bride with father and groom with mother. Does nobody do this anymore?
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

  • We had 'From this moment on' - Shania Twain.

I just had to search for the lyrics online to make sure it is an appropriate song for a wedding as I remember my head feeling a bit like mush when I was trying to decide on one and having just read the lyrics, I don't think we could have picked a better song. It sounds like it was made for a wedding.

Still I have heard what other people have had and thought 'oh that would have been a good one'.

My husband also suggested 'Don't want to miss a thing' (I can't remember who sings this).

Walked in to pipes, down aisle to The Rose by Bette Middler and I am ashamed to say we can't remember our first dance song LOL!! It was a last minute thing I do remember Ronan Keating sang it but it wasn't his song originally and it was a female singing! :o

We'd organized the whole event ourselves, and as our own was the first wedding either of us had been to, were doing it a bit blindly. I didn't know about the first dance....:rotfl:

The DJ suggested Greatest Love of All by Whitney Houston with two minutes to go so we thought "That'll do!". For a wedding dance, the words are completely inappropriate! However, after four years, I spent the following 14 as a single parent and the words really resonated then..
