    Hi El ...

I went AWOL for quite awhile and returned to see no updates on your last diary (subsription) .... and thought you'd also taken time out  but ... I just happened to catch sight of your new diary on the main Diary board (dont often get a chance to skim through them there) ... so thanks for posting today El - otherwise I'd have still been thinking you were MIA :o

I do have one bone to pick (a little one) .... it has just taken me over an hour to read

Guess it's marginally better than the ummm 100's of pages I've missed with some of the others (not to mention entire threads) :rotfl:

Just wanted to say ... if you've not already thought of it,,, now Mr El is back working .... have you relooked at WTC ?

Sorry to read things are still very up & down, but it is good to see there's been lots of positives for you too :A

PS ... I did remember to subscribe to this one instead

hello old friend how have you been?

sometimes it is good just to take that time to ourselves isnt it?

sorry youve lost an hour of your life hope it wasnt too painful lol

wtc well i tried to go for that before but my contract at work is only 23.5 hours and i was informed i had to work at least 30 hours to get wtc ... some weeks i work much more than 30 hours other weeks there isnt any overtime available so i wouldnt be entitled to wtc ... i imagine if anything the rules have got tighter now for claiming wtc so i dont imagine i would get anything at all ... thanks for the thoughts though ...i think the answer for me is deff to get a new job ... but they are soooo thin on the ground just now

on the one hand i should be happy i have a job as i know many many dont , but although i am happy i have a job i am looking for something new tbh

ok so its been pay day again in the elantan household ....

i have managed to pay some money off the debt with more to come in the next few days , i havnt however managed to put anything by for savings but i am thinking that i will try and boost the debt payments till the end of the year and then when the new year starts i will start in earnest to get the savings back into play ... i think this will give me the much needed psychological boost that i need after the last few months of being able to pay nothing but the bare minimum ( a wee bit more when i could)

other than that i havnt been up to much, i have started to delete out of my life some people that have had a negative impact on it, i think it is going to be a slow process and some people do require a bit more persuassion than others to leave me alone, i was sitting the other week and i noticed that i dont actually have any real friends that live close by me, in fact i dont have any real friends that live in the same country as me

this is generally because all my friends travel and live abroad so we stay in touch mainly through email, facebook etc and when they do settle for a wee while we catch up and spend time together then, but they have had to move due to work or the need to lead an adventurous life , i spose it means that when we do catch up its more special

dont get me wrong i have acquaintances here, people i can chat to meet for lunch etc, but they aint real friends if you know what i mean,

anywaytime to update my sig ... its nice to put the debt payments up:D

edited to add ... just notice quidco have actually traceked something for me eventually ... tbh i was at the stage of giving up quidco as i had purchased a few things and they just didnt track or were declined ... but my current purchase has atleast tracked , fingers crossed they pay out now lol

Thanks El, I'm doing much better than before, things stabilising a little more and a light is just about flickering at me from the end of the (very long) tunnel. :)

I won't bog down your thread with it, but you'd be welcome to wizz through my new ramblings if you find yourself with nothing better to occupy your time - I'd guesstimate it will take you all of maybe 15mins max :rotfl:

Oooh, finally I might be able to actually help :o
El, I was in the same boat - firstly due to Temp work .. no way round that one ... and when I landed my current permanent job - I too was on exactly the same hours you are .. with variable on / off O/T (though often more on than off) and like you, was told by an Advice bureau place (and after confusion myself silly on the official government website) that it's 30 hours for wtc.

I've just recently had an extra role added to my job, taking me just above the 30 hour mark - so I contacted their helpline. Now here's the rub ...

After going through previous & current hours etc ... they advised me that the "30 hours" is not what you're CONTRACTED to do... but what hours you USUALLY / ACTUALLY do. And if it varies like yours - they work it out on a minimum of a six week basis so ... if you take your last six weeks ... add all the hours together then divide by six ... if it averages 30 or more - you'd probably qualify.

From what the claim helpline man said, I gather that if there are two on part-time hours ... and those combined hours are over the 30 mark ... again that can qualify you. Short version ... call them and double check !! ....
I was nearly devasted when I found that out - as I could've been claiming some time ago, and they only back date to a max of three months :(

I also didn't realise that I might also qualify for Council tax credit - again it's worth checking direct with your council and asking the question. I thought it was only for people on JSA type benefits

    Hope that might help..

Savings ... what are they :rotfl:I really need to put something by, even if it's just for the emergency type things (like the unexpected bill for the car mot :() ... But I've not had enough left at the end of the month to do it .. lucky if I was able to get to the end with anything more than fumes keeping us going at times

other than that i havnt been up to much, i have started to delete out of my life some people that have had a negative impact on it, i think it is going to be a slow process and some people do require a bit more persuassion than others to leave me alone, i was sitting the other week and i noticed that i dont actually have any real friends that live close by me, in fact i dont have any real friends that live in the same country as me

It's tough to have to move people out of your life - older friends especially. But if you no longer have much in common, or you find you're the one always doing the "following up" ... or they really don't appreciate the place you're in and still want you to do things you can't ... sadly, it is time to let them go (nicely if possible lol - after all ... they were at one time the good friends you needed)

dont get me wrong i have acquaintances here, people i can chat to meet for lunch etc, but they aint real friends if you know what i mean,

    That's so very true EL,...
I don't really have any of the acquaintance type ones where I live now and all the old ones (and so-called friends) petered out or just plain disappeared .. firstly when we moved location a few years back and then again after Mr GA had his stroke. Strange that.
I'd love to have one or two "real friends" again - but it's difficult at this moment in time to "find" some :o

*shuffles off as probably hogged the thread enough already*

    hey Angel,

no you havnt taken over, i like company please sit down and have a virtual jaffa *lobs packet of jaffa's over to gha*

will have a look at my work rota and see if i can work that out... might be slightly difficult though ( isnt it always with me) as i work 4 then i am off 7 then i work 3 then off 7 and so on so on ... so i have plenty of time on the 7 off to work and do the odd occasional hour before after work etc to help out others will deff sit down and figure it out though as i think it might make life easier for us

savings... welllllll we had some not much but with oh off we had to use them :( have you ever read the richest man in babylon? its a very interesting easy to read book .... take out the religion bits etc and use your imagination a wee bit, it really helped me think differently about money , hence the reason why i am not ecstatic about not having savings ... but that i know come January next year i will deff be implementing the 10% pay us first rule ( richest man in babylon)

i have to admit i found it very interesting the friends that dissappeared when hubby had his breakdown as well, incidently i have to admit i also find that being the type of person that i am i need to deal with things myself, i need to be able to make my own decisions ( kinda like with leaving uni, i locked myself away for a weekend and made my decision)

but the few friends that hubby had dissappeared into thin air , since then one *friend* has himself been ill for four weeks and his partner was on the phone moaning at me that no one has been in touch with him since he took not well ... i replied yeah i know what you mean mr el was ill for over 7 months and funnily enough no one phoned or visited him either .... or did your man come and i missed it ? that shut her up lol

my friend that i am trying to get rid of happen to be some of the ones that whilst mr el was going through what he did were more poisonous than anything else, since then they have admitted to me that the only reason they passed various qualifications was because they copied me, i was livid to say the least, i did meet this person at college and we did two ( fairly high 1st year of uni type) qualifications together, and now i find that she blatantly copied me both times, this slipped out when she visited one day and hung all over mr el ( ohhh long long story how long have you got lol) then when i went for the job that i never got there but got the great feed back to she did something underhand aswell, as i had been dealing with the emotional stuff with mr el i had to concentrate on that but now that he is much better, i have decided that its time for her to go,

will head out to work just now but will try and have a squizz at your diary tonight :)

oh and in other news the treadmill has been moved downstairs so once i get this run off night shifts out the way i fully intend on getting a running plan organised
