Hey Miz ,
Long time no see ... Great to have u back its turning into a reunion here ... I like that.:D
Those lightbulbs really drag us back don't they lol ... I'm good had a lot on in the past year but coming through the worst of it now so ready to get back to getting on top of the money situation ... How's u doing ?
That could describe me too El - have had health issues this year, relocated (OH's work) and still trying to sell old house, and am on notice and am out of work in June. But on the plus side, love the new area, getting fitter, am building a new business and am back on here to sort out the money issues!0 -

I've not got through your one yet either, do wish your lot wouldnt ramble so damn much
Must admit - I'd probably be a darn sight more blunt now, if someone made a comment like that after having acted that way themselves. Definately think I'm getting old and codgy :rotfl:

I Have taken a break so you can catch up on Turnip related drivel:D:rotfl:
I am getting more blunter, especially of late. I think it must definitely be my age..i have a tolerance level and after that...watch out:D:eek:
:jMiz is back, was just talking about you the other week..wondering how you were getting on. Keep us updated and nice to see you posting again.:DBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
I think I need the rest now. I am not as young as I might once have been.
**reluctantly hands him back, but books him in for another time**

Phew ... I'm become a flipping wreck trying to catch up with you n Hypnoand just what have poor turnips ever done to you to deserve such treatment as lobbing
I said on Miz's thread ... seeing as us naughty truants have all slunk back about the same time ... and seem to be following each other around like nellie the elephant ... perhaps we should set a challenge to see how many peeps we can get in a line to do a conga through the threads :rotfl:
EL ... I hate to think how many lightbulbs I've ditched in the bin

i dont know i go away for a few days to see to dotty aunty jean and all sorts of shananigans are happening:D:rotfl::rotfl: keep them up peeps keep them up
it's lovely to see old friends again, MIZ hows the health going?
GHA, well i would be up for a small challenge ... problem is for me is managing to keep them going, i start so many then stop ... booger ... must try harder
BOB, i've got a spare male for you if you fancy, we shouldnt just tire the one out when we can have three or four
well whats been going on here
been up tp the hospital to see dotty aunty Jean she is slowly recovering, but it is costing us a fortune,
apart from diesel there and back (sometimes with two cars if i am working) its the food and the beauticians that i am paying for, i'll be glad when mil comes back and takes over lol
we went to the bank yesterday to have that financial review they wanted to sell us extra cover but soon got the idea that that just wasnt going to happen lol ... :Dultimately the woman was looking suspiciously at me and passed a few comments on the subject of you really seem to have a grip on the finances, i could tell her exactly what we spend money on ( although i cant always figure that out for myself lol) she:D even laughed out loud when we told her i cut hubby's hair, ( the usual questions arose how much do you spend on haircuts xmas birthdays etc etc)
ultimatley the gap within our finances is long term savings and retirement plans so we are going to start to close those gaps in one way or another
right the bit i think i need help from you all is
once again FOOD ....
ive figured out that we spend more fuelling both our house and car than we do on ourselves, £145 ( thats a whole other story) gas and electricity £120 diesel so £265 ... but i budget £200 for food and i am struggling even with that
last month i was £250 now this is to feed two adults only why oh why ... some people can feed a family of four for £100 ( probably more by now) but i am struggling to feed two for £250 and i just cant see where we are going wrong
i bake my own bread, we dont buy much processed food (we cook) we batch cook, we dont buy much ginger or sweets etc ... i just cant think where we are going wrong ... can anyone maybe give a wee bit of advice?0 -
Oh and takeaways which was always our problem ... Well mr el now does basically all takeaways ... So if we fancy chinese thai indian pizza etc he does them all much cheaper ... So we don't have takeaways no more ( the odd occasional lunch out if mr el isn't working but its became a rarity now )0
-
Not really sure what to suggest that you wouldn't know already. Have you tried keeping all your receipts for a month to see what you're buying and if there's anything that sticks out?
Sounds like fun with the bank!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
I'm keeping a spending diary squizz ... But I think maybe a spending diary and reciepts may help thanks
Ohhh it was fun with the bank ...I had to explain a few things to her and she was admittedly surprised ...she said I seem to have my head screwed on when it came to budgets and was impressed .... She also said that genereally the people she has worked with are in a lot more debt and some earn lessI deff know that a lot of our good finances ( ok they arnt great but they could be much worse) is down to mse ... I know I still have a long way to go but it is progress ( of sorts )
