Definitely keep receipts - useful to check things. Meal planning is the key for me. Decide what you are going to have and only buy what you need for those meals. Am also using up stuff as much as possible - toiletries mainly - not going to buy any more until we have used up the stuff we have lying around. Am going to do the same with cupboards so things don't sit at the back until they are out of date!

Good luck with it - am still working on reducing that bill myself.

i'm not doing too good with the whole meal planning its about the only bit i cant seem to get a grip of tbh... we only decide that day what it is we are having to eat that night ... like you i am also making the toiletries last as long as i can ... i'm even using a 50p piece size of shampoo ... as compared to my handful previously :rotfl::rotfl:

have tried to clear out the cupboards this week so i have dumped out a whole lot of out of date food ... i was ashamed i tell ya 2009 yikes ....

Don't worry - I found stuff dated 2005 when we moved!!

That's one reason why I am meal planning - starting with something that is in the cupboard or freezer then buying the extras that are needed. Tired of the waste. Also do you shop from a list? I find the two work best when you do both.

Wellllllll ... We do go to the shop with a list ... Then we deviate ...that is A LOT of what the problem may be but I like to buy toilet rolls coffee etc when they are on special ... We never really deviate for luxury items just the buy one get one free type things
